Fantastic way to rapidly drain a battery. If you plug it into the cigarette lighter, it will blow the fuse.

was looking into this out of curiosity .. because i was sure of the same, basicly a short most springs of the type shown are made of whats called piano wire (SW-A/B/C), it has a reistance of 11.8 mico ohms/mm^2 per meter .. witout any current limit thats a dead short from a 24V system thats 24/11.8^-6 = 2 033 893 amps that can be drawn (dead short) ..noe its entierly possible the resistance in the leads and the crap bolts will lower this .. but not even close to reasonable the max current (theoretically) amps for a 1mm^2 gold conductor is around 10k amps, this is the theoretical max amps u can draw with a 1mm^2 conductor (there isent enugh electrons) so the wire itself has some inbuilt current limiting, assuming the wire is 1/4 of a 1mm^2 its still around 2.5k ampere .. now copper has a maximum electron availability of around √2 of gold( around 142% available electrons compared to pure gold) thats 2.5*1,42 -> max Amps of 3.6k amps ... not only will the piano wire get extrmely hot the cables will get almost as hot ... ..assuming we have a 250Ah battery fully charged 3.6k(amp/s) * time t(s) = 250(ah) * 3600(to convert to Ampereseconds) -> t = 900000 As / 3.6k = 250 seconds = 4 minuits and 10 seconds to fully drain the battery .. ..but its still a dangerous contraption if we disregard toasting the battery .. and drawing this theoretical much power for long 86K Watts isent good for the battery (assuming its connected directly to the battery poles, and actually could deliver 3.6k amps, wich it cant .. but if .. it theoretically could last 4 minuits, in reality as the battery cant deliver 3.6k amps it will be longer, how long depends huw much current can be drawn from the battery during a short) .. otherwise ur most likely frying other electric systems of the truck .. wouldent recomend it ..

Since halogen bulbs give off lots of heat, couldn't you just build a housing with the bulb facing up, and place your metal cup on top to heat your water ? Same concept, but this one you could add a cigarette lighter plug, and just plug it into the Dash ! I even have a slogan : Heat your Water in a Flash ! Just plug this into your Dash ! 🔥👍😂🤣😂🔥

So how much power do you think it takes to whirl the engine over with a starter? Why does a car battery have 750 AMPS average sometimes much more. This was an EMERGENCY resort, not a way of life. 12 volt water heaters are sold for years all over the world and they plug into the cigarette lighter.

You can't, you blow a fuse or melt the wires. At the same time if there is no electricity you'll have no way of charging the battery. And if it's a real emergency you'll definitely not want to waste gas to charge battery. This is nothing more then a fun science experiment. A wood or other burning stove in an emergency is 100 x better.

The battery drains. However, you can buy a second, spare battery which your vehicle’s alternator will charge through an isolator. You cook using the spare battery, and the isolator doesn’t allow discharge of the vehicle’s original battery while cooking.

One problem is the wire will burn in two pieces cause it will get red hot and burn up I've used nichrome wire to build a smoke canister to check for vacuum leaks on cars and if not in something to transfer heat or liquid to keep too much heat from burning wire you're basically wasting your time tested it few times to see exactly what wire could stand

" if not in something to transfer heat or liquid to keep too much heat from burning wire " Perhaps you should actually watch the video. The rest of us saw the heat "TRANSFER" to the second can - and then to the pot - and then to the water. This would keep the wire from overheating - due to the very heat loss that you just described. If there was no heat loss how did the water boil? I guess you weren't the top ,student in your science class - duuuhhhh!!!

Instead of ruining the battery , What I would do is make a stand to put the pan on and use Sterno canned heat cooking fuel which costs alot less than having to replace a battery and much easier to use and you can find Sterno cooking fuel at the supermarket , Walmart and other stores , Plus If you drain the battery 80% or more , Then the battery isn't gonna hold a full charge anymore

There's SO MANY things that can go wrong with this idea so easily. Just DON'T DO IT !! Car battery 12V heating elements and cookers can be bought very cheaply on e.Bay and Ali.Expr.ess. Please be aware though that they use a huge amount of power and can easily run your battery flat in a remote location. In 95% of circumstances a $10 gas cartridge stove is the safe and more convenient option 👍

you wont drain the battery on car as long as the car is running, the alternator will keep the battery up. also you wont blow a fuse in the car if so wouldn't the cigarette lighter blow the fuse itself? it draws a lot more amps then the stove does. Do your reserch before making a negative comment. No dis respect to anyone but I think this is a pretty cool trick.

And remind me again where the cigarette lighter gets it's power to heat up? Am I allowed to use a can opener to open the can?
@artszabo1015
@artszabo1015 3 күн бұрын
He did not expect you to need to be reminded. Out of human kindness I will help you. The cigarette lighter in your car is connected to a 12 volt battery like the one in the video. Under the hood near the battery is a large metal device called an engine, it is what moves the car down the road. On the engine is another smaller device called an alternator. It generates 12 volts of electricity that keeps the battery fully charged. Some alternators will put out as much as 200 amps. Running the engine will prevent the battery from being discharged. I realize that this was cruel of him to not explain this to people like you and cause you this trauma. But fortunately for you I came along to help you through this stressful ordeal. I sincerely hope this answers your question; "where the cigarette lighter gets it's power to heat up?" And as to your second question: "Am I allowed to use a can opener to open the can?" I would say yes if you actually own the can opener, if not you could ask your Mom if you can use hers. If you need any further assistance just ask, I am here to help. Art from Ohio
