I have three comments about this recital. 1) Richard Gowers makes these organ compositions look easy, which is a sign of true talent and mastery over the instrument. Bravo!!! 2) The camera work @ 4:40 - 5:30 is spectacular! 3) I loved the 4-way screen split @ 8:57 & 9:20. Richard M is doing an amazing job with the technical stuff here.

Having just read the Wikipedia entry on Julius Reubke, the Sonata on the 94th Psalm was written in 1856, only 12 years after Mendelssohn's Organ Sonatas were first published (I compare the two as they are considered organ repertoire staples). What an explosion of scale and drama in those few years!

@@beautyinsound Like when deciding what to wear when dressing for a formal occasion, it's a remarkable testament to our times that you, Richard McV., were able to "rummage through your wardrobe of organs" to provide your guest artist Richard Gowers with just the right two to "clothe" his music in. I'm in awe at the amazing set of accomplishments that you, Richard M., have brought about since you launched "Beauty In Sound" - such as your inspiration to take the balls which Hauptwerk and others have tossed your way, and run with them as far and as well as you have. When stopping to closely reflect on these technological marvels, in retrospect it was inevitable that you would want a keydesk truly worthy of these organ sample-sets - and tonight, the fruition of your inspired ambition and the manner in which you have been able to carry it out were on full display, giving your guest artist Richard Gowers the freedom he needed to express his considerable talent, unencumbered. Tonight's recital was a beyond-words-magnificent event in every respect! Bravo to both of you! Your upgrade to Hauptwerk VII shone through as well.
