I'm from Brazil, I have a TBS Bible based in Brazil and the material is great. I have 3 models of genuine cowhide covers, they are printed in Korea SWpress

Thank you for your post. I have a Cambridge Pitt Minion Bible with a Morrocco cover that I purchased in June 1963. I've used it regularly and it shows no sign of wear. It has been with me from the Chicago area to the far east and back to the Dallas/Fort Worth area. This is the only Cambridge bible I have but it has served me well.

Thank you so much! I’ve watched 2 of your videos and have learnt so much about my wide margins font, leather type and binding 😁. Now I feel ready to buy my new baby. I have a french Morocco & a goat skin, give me the mutton every day (thought my eyes long for the concord font 🤣🤣)

I absolutely love my KJV concord Wide Margin goat skin. I wish they didn’t use synthetic liners and put a yapp on the Bible, but, as far as the quality, durability and the paper, they make an excellent Bible. I’ve used my Bible every day since I got it last September and it is holding up perfectly

Mark, I recently purchased a Cambridge Cameo w/Apocrypha in black calfskin which is exquisite. It looks and feels like ironed calfskin and so is very smooth with little visible grain. A beautiful binding!

Wow how old was it do you think? The Cameo is my favourite hand size Bible from Cambridge. So excited to see the new print run, now with Cambridge maps (as opposed to Moody maps) stay tuned!

Excellent video. This will really help people when they’re trying to decide what to get. Cambridge makes such great Bibles. I have some of theirs in French Morocco, calf split, imitation leather and goatskin and they are all awesome Bibles. I do have a hardback on the way which will be my first hardback from them. Again this was a great video 👍🏻

How different are the Morocco and Calfsplit? I'd like to try something grainy in the future... calfskin I like but they trend too smooth.
@BurtonBibles
@BurtonBibles 7 ай бұрын
I prefer the calfsplit. Both are stiffer as they are thicker stiffer leathers on vinyl paste down liners.
@nobodyspecial1852
@nobodyspecial1852 7 ай бұрын
@@BurtonBibles so both are stiffer, thank you. I was afraid the split would be spongy or weird, it looks so good I thought there was a bad opportunity cost involved to make it cheaper too. I've heard it doesn't hold up as well, but I don't plan on abusing anything full of paper anyways. I got my first cambridge yesterday, it's calfskin (topaz) and not at all floppy but I don't know if that's indicative of the average. It opens and reads fine but is rigid otherwise. I like Schuyler but they're a bit too soft IMO, I only like them in PSQ but will likely not buy another Quentel.... the topaz seems the answer for bigger bibles and I'm sure I'll try some clarion too (I thought the Treveris was too much empty space and full of ghosting so I'm not going there again).

Brother I keep thinking me and you are total like minds when it comes to the feel and look of bibles😍 That French Morrocan really is nice looking and isn't much different then the more expensive ones. Their imitation bibles almost grab me more than the fancy ones LOL other companies use very cheap synthetic its obvious to my eyes that Cambridge picked a very good synthetic. I love their synthetic liners on their goatskins they are very "SPOONGY" agreed😉 in a very nice way. The Turquoise just exploded my bible geek brain, using a thick leather liner was super cool and is a very unique Cambridge bible to own. It amazes me that Jongbloed can make such different looking bibles for so many different publisher, Cambridge bibles feel like butter😍

Airik1111 I think so too brother! My Turquoise will arrive next week along with a KJV Wide margin and Cameo from Cambridge. 😀👍👌 I also ordered a Humble Lamb Bible today (personally) for my wife, either Christmas or birthday. Too many nice Bibles! 😊

Goat skin is very well but the font size in it is upsettingly very small for such an expensive bible. Anyway, thanks for your review!

Thanks for the video, it's very helpful! How well does the calfskin handle daily use? How long does it normally last?

Very well! Couldn’t say lifespan for sure though. I’d imagine 20 years plus easily providing it’s not abused.

I need to sell a few items... I want to save for the goatskin, TOPAZ Bible!
@WeldingForJesus
@WeldingForJesus 2 жыл бұрын
Now today, and where I live, the price between calfsplit and goatskin is negligible. Without looking at the current exchange rate I'd say roughly £9. Considering that also includes edge lined instead of paste-down I'm surprised they sell any calfsplit at all...

There would be nothing to stop that happening tbh, and I agree it would be good to see. I’d expect it to be around the £50 which would make it something of a bargain really!

@@BurtonBibles Exactly, I look at TBS - they have hardcovers of nearly all their editions and they are incredibly affordable while not giving up anything in terms of readability.

Hi bro, the word I have back is that the binding is likely a synthetic material, all leather bindings would say so. Ariston means ‘the best’ in Greek so we believe this is a descriptor for an old Cambridge high quality man made cover binding. Hope that helps!
