Hi @AllamHouse. Thanks for your many helpful videos. There one other thing relating to routing that I have discovered. On the ROUTING/INPUT page, bottom right are settings for RECORD and PLAY. These relate to settings for the DN32-Live card. On SETUP/CARD/page 2 there are settings for CHANNEL ROUTING and PLAYBACK CONFIG. These settings allow separate INPUT routing for when you are 'Recording' - i.e. taking inputs from local or stagebox inputs and 'Playback', when you are playing back a recording (e.g. Virtual Soundcheck) from either a SD Card or via USB from a DAW. CHANNEL ROUTING can be set to RECORDING, PLAYBACK or AUTOMATIC. Automatic seems to be activated when recording to or playing back from a SD Card and it is meant to automatically select 'Playback' when the SD Card recorder is playing back and revert to 'Recording' when the SD Card recorder is stopped. I have found that if this set to AUTOMATIC, it sometimes 'forgets' that you're not playing back a SD Card recording and stays on 'PLAYBACK' and this results in the entire desk receiving no inputs from the Local or Stagebox inputs! Scary if you aren't aware! Next to it, the setting for PLAYBACK CONFIG - SD Recorder or USB Interface - can also cause unexpected results if CHANNEL ROUTING is set to AUTOMATIC. My work around is to set up a Snippet for 'Live Mixing' which sets the CHANNEL ROUTING to 'Recording' - the channels that are sent to the SD Card and USB for recording are identical (set in Routing/Card). Then I have another snippet for 'Virtual Soundcheck' which sets CHANNEL ROUTING to 'Playback' and sets PLAYBACK CONFIG as SD Card or USB as the source. I then change from Live Mixing to Virtual Soundcheck using SHOW CONTROL/Snippets. Thanks again, regards, Ken

This is some great setup work. I am personally just on the standard X-USB card sonI can manage everything in my setup with the Rec/Play button. That being said, I’m sure there are plenty of people using the other SD card that will benefit from you info here. Thanks for sharing with the community.

Hi @AllamHouse. Very helpful videos for me to setup our x32 producer edition. Just a question that I have been trying to figure out. How would you route vocals that are on Local 1-3, send them to the daw and put autotune then send it back out to the mixer to your left and right? I really could not figure this out. Your help is much appreciated. Thank you!

Caution: Using this process across USB will add latency to your vocals. Do NOT try to push this into their IEM. It can be okay in FOH if your venue is large enough and your congregation is far enough away from the stage to not hear the natural vocal. This takes a little finesse in the USER in/out area. Here is the basic process... 1) Build [USER IN 1-8] to have 1-3 come from Card and 4-8 come from your current source. 2) Build [USER OUT 1-8] to have 1-3 local and 4-8 your current source (if needed) 3) Routing > Card 1-8 setup [USER OUT 1-8] to send your local 1-3 to your DAW 4) Routing > Inputs setup [USER IN 1-8] to bring the signal back from the DAW 5) Make sure in your DAW you have the appropriate routing in/out to send to your appropriate channels AND that your send level is set to "0db" so you are returning the full signal that is coming into the board If you need individual help, I do handle remote consultations and would be happy to assist you in the setup.

@AllamHouse Thank you for your channel, it has been helpful putting together 2 X32 and stage boxes in my church. I had one question. After installing the stage box, we start to experience crackling noise on the channel with the DAW return. Before the stage box, the signal from DAW return was clean and we didn't have this issue before with stage snake. Any thought on what could be the issue? Both our X32 have the same issue with the DAW return.

My first guess is that the sample rate is set different between the various devices. If you are using this for live stream I would recommend setting everything to 48k (instead of 44.1k). Give that a shot.

Thanks for the info and all the videos that you guys do. We just purchased two S16 stage boxes and set them up and they seem to be working fine, how ever when I change scenes I don't have all the routing settings on my other scenes. Is there a way to globally save these ?
@AllamHouse
@AllamHouse 2 жыл бұрын
There is not a global routing change button unfortunately. The only real option you have is called Scene Safes. You could select the scene safe for routing and then when you load the new scene, your routing would not change. I usually stay away from that since my scenes tend to have various routing changes depending on how I am using them, but it is an option. My preferred method is to just take the time on an off-day and make these changes manually across the various scenes you have saved.

Hello Dave, we got the M32 last year for our church and I couldn't have got it up and running without your videos. Thank you. Question, the routing still somewhat eludes me. I have it protected in all scenes (I think, boxes are checked). Could I copy our praise team scene to a blank scene that I can tinker with, then uncheck everything in the Scene Safes for that scene only, will that allow me to experiment and change routing and anything else without it affecting any other scene routing. Videos are great but experimenting and messing up and fixing without affecting the service scenes are much more helpful. I've already experimented 10 minutes before practice, just before the service, and lost all sound and that really puts the fear into a person.
@AllamHouse
@AllamHouse 2 жыл бұрын
If you have the routing selected as scene safes then it will NOT change when you open the new scene. This could be an issue as you might have been experimenting with a different scene and that routing would stay in place when the desired scene is fired up. I never use scene safes for this reason.

Have you done any videos on routing out to AES stage boxes? We have a monitor that we want to send to that is connected to a SD16 output but can't figure out the routing for AES outs.
@AllamHouse
@AllamHouse Жыл бұрын
I have not done any specific videos about it, but the short version is that you have 16 outs that can be sourced from any mix (main, MixBUS, or Matrix). You can then send these to any number of physical outputs. The outputs are setup in blocks of 4 and while this can work great if you have even numbers of outputs, reality usually has us doing one over here and another over there. This is where the User Outs routing comes into play. If you have to do custom routing, I would go to the Routing > User Outs location and set some custom output routing that you can then select in your AES50 location to get the signal to your monitors. As always, if you need help and want to do a consulting call you can fill out the contact card on my website and we can start a conversation outside of KZbin. sound.AllamHouse.com

Hi Allamhouse thanks for your video. Can I ask a quick question re the M32. In short: how can I route a local Aux input to an output of the DN32 to track in my Sampler/DAW via USB? I have an Akia one sampler connected to the DN32 so I can send 32 channels out from the sampler to mix on the desk, this works, the problem is I need to sample from a record player which comes in to the desk at the aux input, but I cant find a way to send the aux signal back out to any of the DN32 outputs which are connected to my samplers digital inputs via USB.
@AllamHouse
@AllamHouse Ай бұрын
The first thing to keep in mind is that you only have 32 channels you can run to/from USB. So you can run 32 channels from your DAW into the console and 32 channels from the console into the DAW. Once you add your record player into the mix coming through the AUX In on the back of the console you will now need to determine which two channels (assuming your record player is stereo) you will give up to be able to push these AUX In channels to your DAW for sampling. If we choose Ch 31/32 to substitute with AUX In 1/2 to move forward with the example then we would do the following setup. Go to Routing > User Out and setup your Out25-32 to have your first channels matching your existing setup (25-30) and then 31 would have a source of AUX In 1 and 32 would source AUX In 2. Once this is complete you will need to go to Routing > Card and set your channels 25-32 to the USER OUT 25-32 and the right window (when you scroll wheel down) will show that your settings look similar, but now channel 31/32 should have AUX In 1/2 as their source. I hope this is helpful, but let me know if you have other questions.

If I have a dl32 on stage running master out to how /can I keep using the same master out on the console as well. I am having issues wrapping my head around the router setup
@AllamHouse
@AllamHouse Жыл бұрын
My assumption is that you have your Main outs set to 15/16 in the Routing > Outs tab. Assuming this is correct, the Routing > AES50a tab will determine which of these outputs are going to your stage box. This is usually just set to a straight 1-16 mapping and that is fine. You still have access to the XLR outs on the console where you can route outputs to as well. You can go to Routing > XLR and set your outputs to go out the back of the console. By default these are also set (like the stage box) as a mapping of 1-16. This video covers the routing window and might be helpful. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hqHIooWrhaycaLs

Hello, my direct outs under the P16 are not matching. On channel 7 for the P16 I want bass, but it’s showing on 15. The direct out is channel 18 on the mixer. I am using the x32 compact with a s32.

I figured it out. It was a bad cat5e cable cause the channels not to sync up in the p16.

It is usually best to go channel by channel on the P16. I even use a piece of paper many times to help me track the channel (or Bus) that has the sound I need and which P16 channel it needs to route out. Many times the P16s can get pretty complex since most people have to Bus instruments together (drums, BGVs, etc) to get the channel count down to 16.

So say I have a s32 digital stage box and I want mix bus 1 to go out to the output 1 on that stage box. But I have my Main L/R going out local output 1 on the console. Is this possible or does local output 1 take up one of my remote output spots on the snake?
@AllamHouse
@AllamHouse Жыл бұрын
I'm going to try and give you enough info to make this work well, but if it isn't clear enough, let me know and I can try again. So, the console offers 16 outputs and you can send any mix (or channel) to a desired output. That is internal mapping so then to get to the external mapping you will go to Routing > XLR and select the setup you want for your physical outputs and then AES50a for the S32 outputs. You will quickly notice they are setup in blocks of 4 so now you get to customize one or the other (physical or AES50). While you can customize outputs using the User Outs portion of the Routing page I find it easier to do a one-to-one mapping and only connect the outputs needed at the main console OR on the S32. This is assuming you have a fullsize console with 16 physical outputs. Here is a basic example of what I mean... Routing = Out1 Main, Out 2 MixBUS1 Board uses Out1 and not Out2 S32 uses Out 2, but not Out 1

Hi Dave. On the Block Input page in the bottom RH corner there is the INPUTS RECORD/PLAY option. What would I use this for?
@AllamHouse

This is a button that lets you have two presets… 1 for normal setup and 1 for virtual sound check. I talk about it a little bit in this video, but I usually have it setup for my REC stage inputs (AES50a) and then card inputs for the PLAY setting. kzbin.info/www/bejne/pYHVkpqQlN1qg7M

If you can't find the "Record / Play" switcher in the bottom right corner, it's only in firmware 4.0 and later... HOWEVER!!! don't update your firmware until you've saved your scene settings (see the pinned comment in kzbin.info/www/bejne/pYHVkpqQlN1qg7M from AllamHouse)

My question is I tried to connect a mic in the back of the console and I’m getting no signal. I only get signal if I plug in mic to my stage box abs
@AllamHouse
@AllamHouse Жыл бұрын
This sounds like a routing issue. If you go to Routing > Inputs you should see options for your inputs. Most likely yours are set to AES50 to source from your stage box. These are done in groups of 8 so if you need to plug in one mic you can either set a full group of 8 for Local Inputs or you can use the User In setup and do a custom mixture of AES50 and local to meet you need.

How would you just route one output from the output section. I’m using the AES A and B but I just want to connect a physical xlr cable to the output I just want to bypass one output. I know I have use the User section how would I configure that.
@AllamHouse
@AllamHouse 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, the User Outs section might be needed if you need to send custom things across AES50. For starters, go into Routing > Outs and setup your specific mixes to go to specific outputs. Then you can go to Routing > XLR and you can setup a specific output to go out a specific XLR on the console. Then, if you need to make adjustments inside of the AES50 routing to (potentially) remove this local mix from what is sent to AES50, then you can go into User Outputs and setup a block of 8 with your specific needs and then go back to Routing > AES50 and select your User Out group at the bottom of the specific AES50 channels you want to run across. I'm not sure of a better way to explain it, but I am happy to assist across a consulting call if you need to get it done quick and without guessing. If you want to go that route, jump to my website and fill out the connect card to start that conversation outside of YT. sound.allamhouse.com

That feature is to have settings set for your normal inputs (for a live event) or quickly flip to other settings (usually from the card) to do a virtual playback. This video discusses multitrack recording and this feature. kzbin.info/www/bejne/pYHVkpqQlN1qg7M
