And your version of correctly means as period spec as possible, your attention to detail is fantastic, and people appreciate that for itself. The fact that you just don't let the little things go. Whether it's cleaning an area of a vehicle that no one but you will ever see once it's all put back together, going through electrical systems wire by wire, and even when you're talking out loud to yourself so we get insight into your thought processes. It's all of the above things that you do that make us die hard fans of yours keep coming back.

Sarah, word of caution about those rubber mounts on the radiator from my experience - they are designed to be used in compression, and not in shear. The threaded posts tend to seperate from the rubber when they are in tension or shear as they are not fully embedded into the rubber

Kudos to you for staying motivated and knocking out all the little stuff. A lot of builders will cobble stuff together to get it running, to hear the exhaust note etc because it helps them stay motivated, otherwise the mundane little tasks like endless wiring, weatherstrip, lights etc just wears them down and hey become disinterested and often a project can get sidelined for a period of time due to this.

This is likely a $300K Celica build with labor (or more like totally *unlikely!)…. Wow. And we just couch potato watch you go at it, basically alone. This entire thing has been amazing to see unfold. It will be a legend car that is clear now, but it took a lot of guts and vision to be so confident that it would even work and just start this resto-mod project series as if it was fairly obvious. It’s not obvious, that is for sure. It’s just such a cool idea - and so unlikely that everything could possibly fit together. You’re re-engineering that old car ad-hoc, alone. Its impressive.

Not sure about the plastic behind the speakers. Seems like a recipe for buzzing. They make foam baffles if you feel like the speakers need some sort of protection. Also, that second speaker did not look sealed. Not gonna have much low-end. A better method is to cut a piece of 1/4" MDF to mount the speaker. Seal the MDF to the door with some silicone caulking. Former installer, here. We rarely used foam for this purpose, and only to seal small gaps. Speakers really want to be on a strong, flat mounting surface.

Sarah, when you combine audio channels, you should use a resistor network, unless the head unit has a resistor network, or equivalent built into the unit. Mono from two independent speaker outputs can blow up the output driver on your radio. Some manufacturers suggest using the two positives to sum mono. There are some manufacturers that make dual voice coil loudspeakers that allow each discrete speaker channel to connect to its own voice coil.
@davidgustafson45637 ай бұрын
This. Definitely need to confirm this head unit can be used this way. You could end up destroying the output amp stages.
@4jack8mama6 ай бұрын
I'm also concerned about wiring 3 speakers in parallel to two output channels. I'm not sure there's an easy option to do it properly. Ideally, I would run a separate amplifier in bridged mode to get left and right signals safely into one speaker. Dual voice coils should not have different signals driving them. The voicecoils are mechanically coupled together, so varying electrical drive signals would end up interfering with each other.
