Nice... This dash is much better than other dash... Congrats.

That plastic trim is needed for the glove box door to close properly, just pop rivet it in place and use the correct rubber bumpers for that year. I had the same issues on my 68 when i removed the padded dash. also don't forget the the plastic air vents.

Man, you went from a creepy dash, to a nice looking one. Great up grade! I have to fix the shifter in our 58 convertible. I never done it before. Thanks!

Much prefer the standard dash and odometer! I guess someone had butchered that from a 1303S ! Not over enamoured with the shelf though! Thouroughly enjoyed all the videos! Well done!

Great job, man, as always. The Beetle's dash now looks like it should, really nice. It's always heart-warming seeing you work on the Beetle, reminds me of my Beetles which I had back in the day. What's the matter? No more shorts and flip-flops?
@Jerod_Helt4 жыл бұрын
Thanks buddy! It’s starting to get cold. The flip flops will be back as soon as it warms up👍

There is an two parted Shift Rod for Replacement. When you use this, you dont have to remove the whole shiftstock throu the framehead. Nice video btw.

That noise when you moved the shifter is the giveaway that the bushing needs changing. I hope you didn’t forget the metal ring that goes around it. 😉 Oh no; the dreaded red urethane in the coupler...🤣 That’s an unorthodox dash layout with the square gauges. What’s up with that?
@Jerod_Helt4 жыл бұрын
I don’t think this style of bushing uses the metal ring. I bought a new ring but didn’t use it. I don’t know where they found that instrument cluster, but it was definitely not stock.
@vayabroder7294 жыл бұрын
@@Jerod_Helt I believe they all use the ring unless it’s one of those new brass retrofit units, etc. I’ve done this a couple of times and like you was lucky that the whole thing didn’t turn into an ordeal; I’ve heard many horror stories on others installing them. In my cases; they’ve gone in easily like you just did. I’ve also read that the joint is supposed to be facing the driver too. That dash you took out looks like a newer Mexican or Brazilian unit.

@@Jerod_Helt definitely not stock for that model and year.

It looks you didn’t like anything about the old dash, you just ripped it off, great!!! I didn’t know it had all that access ports for the shifter, the 356 is the same?. Keep on working on the 356!!!!
