Thank you for this video series. As a novice contemplating a SuperBeetle project I really like your concise, no nonsense approach and have learned a few things already.

Nice video. I also add a little bit more weld on the seat rails for extra support.

Those floor pans worked out great and easy to install. Just would have preferred it not being primed with self etch out of the box.
@Sam_Mebane2 жыл бұрын
That would be nice but none of our suppliers have that option.

Bro great video!!! i am the happy owner of a 1966 beetle and we are in restoration process, my question is the floor pan size are the same in the early and late bugs? i mean the only difference between old and new models bug floor pans are the seat supports? Can i cut off the seat supports of a 1990 floor pan replace with the supports of my 1966? thanks!!!
@Sam_Mebane2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Luis, yes. The floor pans are the same dimensions at the chassis for ALL year Beetles, and even Super Beetles. The only differences on the pans are the seat rails / mounts. A 1979 Super Beetle floor pan could be installed in a 1954 Beetle, etc.

This is the first video I’ve seen that did not pop holes in the new floor pan down the tunnel side for plug welding onto the tunnel. What am I missing?
@Sam_Mebane2 жыл бұрын
Nothing, some people like to do rosette welds to hold the pan in place, I prefer seam welding the floor pan. Either will do the job.

@@Sam_Mebane awesome. Thanks for the response. As a newbie getting ready to replace the floors in my 60 beetle I don’t want to screw up!

You don't cover that white Mustang while cutting, grinding and spraying the VW chassis?
@Sam_Mebane3 жыл бұрын
Nah, it's got a heavy cover of dust and is in desperate need of paint and bodywork.

Where do you get those front rollers? Do you strip off the rust inhibitor or rough it up and use por-15 or something over it?
@Sam_Mebane4 жыл бұрын
I picked up the rollers at Harbor Freight and bolted them to some cut down front end supports that were welded to a tow bar mount. The bottom of the pan was undercoated afterwards, the topside was painted.

@@Sam_Mebanepaint and undercoat directly over the primer it ships with?
@Sam_Mebane5 ай бұрын
@@AustinScheib-fz6hr If you aren't going for a full show quality resto, absolutely. Just scuff it up and paint/undercoat it.

i hope when measure the old pan. not forgetting about the 1/2' or so you lost when cutting it out
@Sam_Mebane4 жыл бұрын
If you measure before you cut like we did, then there is nothing lost.

Would it not be cheaper to purchase a whole new floor pan.
@Sam_Mebane3 жыл бұрын
"Whole" floor pans aren't made, that would essentially be a complete chassis.
