We continue our high-speed tour of the Tank Museum. Again, we can expect that we'll come back to these vehicles in greater detail in the future, so this is just the 'what you can expect when you come visit the musuem' sort of tour.

kv 1 was a bad tank of ww2. outclassed by t34
@OlaJustin
@OlaJustin 8 жыл бұрын
RAY RAY KV-1 was a bad tank? Dude, get your facts straight and tell that to a Finnish soldier with an anti tank weapon in 1939. Or a german tank with a short 75 mm gun. The KV-1 was a beast but it got replaced by the t34 which were cheaper and could do most of what an KV-1 could do. But a bad tank? Dont be disrespectful. Plenty of people have died trying to take out one of these beast early in the war with weapons that couldn't do anything to it.

@TheChieftainWOT The armour on the T-55 isn't actually as thick as you point out - at least not on normal ones. The one at Bovington has cutaway sections because it was used for driver training, and those sections were deliberately made thicker to make the new crews think it had more protection than it really did.

@conhand.3578
@conhand.3578 8 жыл бұрын
If those vehicles are _not_ shown to the public it's for a good reason! Why should they show them to all of us on KZbin? I visited this museum, in fact half the tanks are dummy ones, made of plywood. I think they have also two or three inflatable ones, but these are fairly obvious to tell apart from the rest and you have to reinflate them regularly, so...

I like the Afghanistan display, it's more interesting and atmospheric than a random hodgepodge of vehicles, I'm sure it brings people in. However I would hate to see the unparalleled collection of historic vehicles shut away to make space for more 'popular' exhibits. The guns on the wall was a really nice touch too. They should have had dummy shells for those guns lined up to illustrate the massive difference that up gunning makes to actual firepower.

"Marmon Herringtons armoured cars" they were of course not! The 8x8 at 7:00 was an experimental "South African Reconnaissance Car Mark VI" of which only 2 were built, and a SARC Mark IV at 9:32. Powered by Ford Gasoline V8 engines and running gear with some/most of the earlier models using Marmon Herrington 4-wheel drive components - therefore so named by the British.
