AYE, when someone asks me what my favorite theme in Pokemon is, my answer is Unwavering Heart without hesitation. The first time I heard this, when Bianca’s dad was trying to get her to come home, I was shocked. Pokemon didn’t have sad, emotional themes. And then you hear it all throughout the game, whenever something climactic happens. It plays during moments of character development: Bianca finding out what she wants to do in her life, Cheren realizing what it means to be strong. And while it never plays in N’s pressence, this is N’s theme as well. Because throughout the game he opens his heart and he learns what it means to be human. I love this theme and I always will. And you managed to make it even better. The emotional aspect of the song is brought out by the vocals and instruments you chose. Both you and Pokestir are among my favorite musicians on KZbin, and suffice it to say you have made my evening a little better:)

He was a character with a pure heart who was cruelly manipulated by Ghetsis for his entire childhood to see pokémon trainers and battles as inherently abusive by only being shown the worst of the world. So he always had good intentions, yet was playing into the hands of a megalomaniac. He's one of, if not the deepest and most endearing characters in the whole setting. I'd like to see him become a trainer again, maybe in a third Unova story. It'd actually be interesting to play as him starting from scratch, but the player character is usually just an avatar for the player.

...I want so badly for Pokémon games to have writing like this again. There’s still good in the new ones, but like... Black and White and the sequels were fun as games, yet also had stories that were complex and intriguing. So much so, I didn’t fully understand the story when I played it as a young kid. But that made it so much more powerful when I replayed it later when I was older, and realized how amazing and complex of a message it presented. I just want the power that the old had in the new, I don’t even necessarily need remakes of old games right now... is that too much to ask?

Dad_Shoes that’s an interesting perspective and I think you’re mostly right. I do believe though that the writing quality has had less to do with “appealing to the fans” and more to do with having enough time to develop the game. For example, BW they really put all their effort into it, but then for example, when Gen 6 came around, much of their time was spent making the transition into 3D. There’s a lot of cut content that was going to originally be in XY (and potentially Z) that never happened in the games, and was cut to happen only in the anime, or moved to the next games of the anniversary: Sun and Moon. Ash Greninja and Zygarde being the prime examples of this, who don’t really thematically fit with Alola; it’s simply that the development of XY didn’t have enough time to get everything they wanted in it. Sun Moon they still had a few things rushed but they still wanted to make it good since it was the anniversary game, and they knew they could at least use the assets they had already started to create for XY in the new game, especially since they had already been prevalent in the anime. And I’m sure I don’t need to reiterate the National Dex controversy too much for SwSh; but again, supposedly that decision had hardly anything to do with “pleasing the fans” and more just of “we need more time to complete the game” since they’re constantly pressured to finish it within a year of the previous release and they apparently weren’t sure how to make the transition onto the Switch. My personal opinion is that Game Freak has always wanted to make good stories and cool games, but they’ve been slaves to the 1 year development cycle for too long, and they usually shine best when most of their assets are already completed. So my guess is, now that they’re actually on Switch, and there’s only about 200 Pokémon they’ll have to finish making the transition in from the Nat Dex, the next game beyond SwSh will have higher quality of a lot of things: visuals, story, gameplay, etc. Not to say I haven’t had fun with SwSh, but the things that feel incomplete? I believe it has mostly to do with development cycles, and once they’ve “caught up” so to speak, they’ll be able to make a greater game with their already created assets.

Why is it that we can learn so much about living a kind, caring, and loving life from a video game? Is it because the creators are master story tellers, or is it because me take the lessons we learn in the game and make them a part of ourselves. Maybe both. I grew up on Pokemon. I was homeschooled most of my life because I got picked on by other kids. When I was 11 I moved to public school. I got bullied really bad. Pokemon was my escape. When I had my lunch stolen and when I got shoved down stares, I went home and escaped into this little world in my 3ds. I remember playing Pokemon Sun all the time. Those days were hard, but so much more simple. I'm 16 now, and I wish I could just go back to 2013 and be a carefree kid playing Pokemon Y. We all got our wishes. An Unwavering Heart is iconic for being a solo piano piece - but your idea of different instruments fading in and out of the composition is quite cool, considering the way the song's used. It's not an emotion song for one character, even though it's commonly associated with N. It's the theme for when Bianca stands up to her controlling father. It's the theme for Hugh's quest for justice. Retroactively, the song's even become a place where people grieve for Iwata. So each instrument is a person's Emotion, bringing their own sound to the piece before they inevitably move on.

This soundtrack makes me wanna cry. Pokemon White was my first game. Pokemon White 2 is my favorite game but the story is so great, yet sad at the same time. The story...... it was full of character development. Ever since I sold my white copy for Y, I regret that. Starting with Y, the story is blander than the potato wedges at KFC. Ultra Moon in my opinion had the best story of the 3D games, but nowhere compared to the 2D games. I feel bad for National Harmonia Gropius, he was basically raised by pokemon and wanted to let them be free because of the way they raised N. Thanks for the amazing soundtrack, Zame.

I saw the description and I saw “Glock” as one of the instruments. I honestly thought for a second that there was a gun in this remaster which felt so out of left field. But then later on I realized it meant glockenspiel. I kinda laughed and went back to listening to the score.

"N"...the first pokemon character that made me want to cry...I didn't even played Pokémon Black and White 1, only Black 2, and even so I already loved N,He is such a character, it's a shame he never appeared again after these games, because currently he is my favorite Pokemon character.

I wish pokemon would put more passion into their games like what they used to. The newer games are great but Black and White and its sequels are so special. We may not see somthing like it again due to how the pokemon company has become.

Honestly the main line Pokémon games have never been that high quality. BW and BW2 were the exceptions (I still at the very least like every other game in the main series though)
