You were the exact opposite of Father James Martin. Fr. Martin, of course, has become a “rock star” through his advocacy for Catholics with same-sex attraction (SSA). Since his appointment by Pope Francis as a consultant to the Vatican’s Secretariat for Communications, his media platform has only grown. And despite repeatedly seeming to approach or even transgress the limits of Catholic moral teaching on sexual matters, he has steadfastly maintained that he does not challenge that teaching. None other than Robert George, with whom he struck up an unlikely friendship in 2017, has gone to bat for him publicly, stating that when Fr. Martin says he’s faithful, we should take him at his word.

@@SilverSniffer Were Father's vows of ordination meaningless? Priestly obedience isn't an option. Diocesan priests make two promises- celibacy and obedience. Consider Father Corapi. He also was laicized but returned to his order in repentance and obedience.

@ No, they’re not meaningless, unless the bishop is going against established doctrine. The Priest’s first obedience belongs to Jesus Christ. We don’t know all of the details of Father Pavone’s so called disobedience.

@@SilverSniffer "Obey your bishop" has "no place in the Catholic Church"....That's an amazing statement. It's kind of like saying "Reading the bible has no place in Protestant Christianity." Or "eating food has no business in the human daily routine..." If you dont eat, you die physically. If you dont obey lawful authority, you die spiritually. That's as fundamental to Catholicism as the Eucharist is. Whatever once Father Frank Pavone used to be, his ego now stinks to high Heaven. He said he's praying with Padre Pio...Hope so. Now he needs to study Pio's life and example and apply it. When Padres ministry was suspended by his evil bishop, not only did Pio comply, he actually wrote to that same bishop and told him to ignore all of his "crazy" supporters ("crazy" is my word, Pio used some other description along those lines) and assured the evil bishop that the bishop had Pio's full fealty. Kneel, Mr. Pavone. Deny yourself! Kneel before the cross and DO IT IN SECRET. Don't use it as a photo op. Remember well the (here paraphrased) words of our Lord, "What does it profit a man to save the physical life of all the babies in the world but lose his soul in the process?" You are in my prayers that you comprehend before it's too late. St. Padre Pio and St. John Vianney, pray for him (and me)!
