Oh yes, you need to get to a derm ASAP! Melanomas are the worst type of skin cancer because they have the highest chance of metastasis (spreading cancer to other organs). The death rate from melanoma is not from the melanoma itself but from it getting into the nearby lymph nodes and spreading throughout the body. It has a genetic component (unlike squamous and basal cell skin cancers) so most definitely go get a skin check.

Been there and mine were so much larger for the original biopsies . Note to all ... DO NOT LET YOUR PHYSICIAN SAY WE WILL KEEP AN EYE ON IT !!! My "doctors" watched mine until they were stage 4 malignant melanoma. You see something you don't like you see a dermatologist and have it removed ! Devin is doing it right !

I've had basil cell twice now...just last week had the second stuff cut out. If you read my post on your last video, you may understand this has been a heck of a year for me between the serious squamous cell I had, and this being my second run in with basil cell, my first run in with basil cell was 7 years ago. Don't slack on getting any of this stuff checked thinking your youth won't let it happen. Basil cell is no 'super danger' but if it's not taken care of right away, it can turn into a worse situation.

Years ago I had to get a mole removed, it changed size and color in a single day. The waiting was the worst part. They gave me numbing stuff to put on it before I came in ( used a q-tip, using my finger would have completely numbed it ). I was scared but they were so nice and walked me through everything. I even asked at one point if she had started and she was like “ I’m already done “. We had a bad snow storm hit on the day I was to come in to get my stitches out. Luckily they were okay with me coming in 4 hours early. I suggested they call people to have them come in early due to how bad the weather was. Within an hour we had a good 4/5 inches of snow and people were getting stuck. I know it’s scary hearing the C word. You handled it like a champ!

Awake biopsies even small ones can be so nauseating. I've had two breast biopsies, one was a needle biopsy the other a punch biopsy of a mass inside the breast tissue then they put a little tiny breast cancer ribbon tag to mark the tissue they'd taken a sample from. Each time just the jostling while I was numb then the loud snap sound from the biopsy punch made it very difficult to keep it together. 4 years ago I opted to have a muscle biopsy done awake, they had to remove a piece of muscle from my right quads & there couldn't be any lidocaine or epi in the actual muscle tissue they were going to be testing so I felt that slice. It ended up being a much more complicated procedure than expected but I begged the surgeon to just finish rather than closing me up & having me start over again under propofol. He was having to use a bovi & grounding pad since the incision was so deep & I have low platelets but the grounding pad doesn't stop you from feeling that current completely. My sister came with me & the surgeon said she could stay with me at the head of the table. She held my arms crossed over my face & talked me through because I kept creeping right up to full blown panic attack & feeling like I was going to be sick but as long as they just kept talking it was better. Something about feeling the tugging & jostling in a numb area 🤢 it's so hard to explain how it felt & I was making it worse because I was a surgical tech so behind my eyes I could still see everything he was doing because I'd assisted in plenty of biopsy procedures just like it, I just couldn't shut it off. My shorts & T-shirt were completely soaked in sweat by the time he finished closing, it's been 4 years & I have residual numbness & damage to a lymph vessel from the procedure. Devin did so well, just keeping calm & talking through it. I really appreciate them sharing this process because so many people feel sick getting this done & feel ashamed because it's like Devin said a pretty minor booboo but it doesn't change the physiological reaction we have to getting chunks of our body removed & confusion from our brain that expects to feel a pain response.

I literally just went through the EXACT same thing. Or was crazy to watch this because the results were the same, treatment was the same.... i had 6 biopsies done, fully expecting nothing. I really just wanted miles removed and had no concerns. 1 week later, they called to give me the results. They started by saying "So, we did 6 biopsies and 2 came back benign...." i was like "WHAT? Then what were the other 4?!?" So yeah. I had to go back for punch removals, too, with sutures. Then they also wanted to take 2 from my face with sutures as well. Last biopsy told me we had clear margins 😊 I'm just glad it's over.

I had a pre cancerous spot taken off of my hip with a punch biopsy several years ago. They said it was probably from going to the tanning bed in my teens & early 20's. It looked like someone had poked me with a marker lol. It was just a small black dot. I had them look at a mole on the side of my breast because it had changed but it was also along my bra line & it kept it irritated. They used some stuff to freeze it off. It didn't work completely but they weren't concerned about it. Get your skin checked yall!!

About 6 months ago, my doctor sent me to a dermatologist who did biopsies of several moles and repeated those biopsies 2 more times. 🤷🏼‍♀️. I got so frustrated and went to a different dermatologist who couldn't believe she concentrated on the ones she did. This dermatologist did biopsies on 2 that the other disregarded and thankfully so, because she was right on the money and now I'm scheduled for removal. She also was terribly upset that the other one treated a spot on my arm with a medicine that caused my skin to atrophy. Moral of the story- don't stop at one doctor if you feel you're not getting proper treatment.

18 years ago I had a very itchy red swollen mole on my left forearm. It turned out to be MELANOMA and had to be removed with surgery. At that same time they found a different MELANOMA on my lower back. Earlier this year I noticed a spot on my left forearm again. It also was MELANOMA and had to have that removed with minor surgery just this past July. And when I went back a couple weeks ago for a whole body checkup they found another spot on my lower back. Thankfully this one is only a basal cell carcinoma. I'm having it removed in a few weeks. So I've had three different types of melanoma and now a basal cell. 😳 They're all spots where I'm sure I had a bad sunburn when I was younger.
