Things that popped up in my head regarding the jewelry. The disc on the back could have been too thin. I’ve had a thin disc on the back of my labret post and it was shredding the back of my lip. Also there was a possibility you needed a longer post. I heard getting the right length for it is hard since it’s a meatier area. The dry lips could also be you were cleaning it with saline/salt which naturally dries. Yea tree oil is HELLA drying. It’s supposed to be diluted if full strength. In terms of lip care I LOVE the brand First Aid Lip Balm. My holy grail. It’s $20 and sold on Sephora and Amazon

I notice a lot of people take their Ashley out after a few months...I've had mine for 5 years, it healed in 3 weeks. I did have 2 nasty flare ups in the beginning [because of smoking, messing with the piercing & low quality jewelry] however, after researching & finding out that only 2 piercing/tattoo shops in my city were licensed to do piercings, I went & got quality jewelry & have not had a problem since. Also, my dentist told me that the piercing is better for people with bigger lips, or at least larger bottom lip, something about how the jewelry has more cushion to rest & lessen the friction & pressure on the gums. :) I personally forget I even have the piercing because my placement is very accurate, I dont feel anything in my mouth. But I know its different for everyone. :)

I’m going on a watch spree of anything i can find related to the ashley piercing. Probably should’ve done this before getting the piercing but no regrets😭

I had the same issue with the plate. I went to my piercer and he put on a larger one.

your lips were only like that because of the shedding from being swollen then shrinking ! i had the same problem lol all i had to do was peel those pieces of skin off and exfoliate and my lips were fine

Highkey tea tree oil dries out skin.. if you used that in your aftercare routine that could be what fucked you up lol

Maybe you were allergic to the metal of the jewelry, some people are allergic to metal such as braces or oral jewelry. :)
