@@__DMC__82 Did you not know that reviewers get product before us plebes? Erin's audio corner just posted a review of some X3s with a comparison to the new Super Lintons. There is more engagement in the comments on that review about the Lintons than the X3s! 😂 Seems the audience has spoken and we are all super curious to know the facts.

He does sound like nothing more than a press release. Maybe just wanted to be first on the board with a Super Linton review? I mean, he obviously HAS them, but this "review" is lacking objective and subjective substance, mainly the subjective part. I have never seen this channel before and I would wager he is a retailer in Australia based on this video alone. Edit: Just clicked his link. Yes...a retailer. Of course there will be no negatives mentioned.

No, I got a pre production model to play with, which was rad! But, fellas, I’m no reviewer. There are folk out here on the KZbinsphere that do that sort of thing waaaaaaay better… and without bias. We import and retail IAG products. These are just features to give our customers - and anyone else who’s listening - a little more insight than the press release or product page. We try to break down the press release a little, give people a slightly better understanding of why things have been implemented and what that’s likely to result in. BUT!!! We think it best to pair what you learn here with a review from one of the top players (which I hear is coming) and then go have a listen for yourself.

@@MS-pw8yu Absolutely mate. This isn't a review. We don't do reviews. We just do video features of new product releases from the Brands we support and leave the reviewing to more qualified channels 😉

Linton was a complete left-field issue that got caught both the buyers as well as Wharfedale by surprise. At US$1700 you got yourself a speaker of the performance that matched that of US$5000+ speakers. Wharfedale then realized they could further milk the “heritage” cash-cow so they introduced a tribute to Dovedale, with noticeably minor performance increse at almost 4 x the price of the Lintons. That didn't go well, and they sold very few of Dovedales (don't ask me how I know that, please). Also remember Lintons were initially marketed as "limited edition" but many years later, they are still being produced as they are simply a big money maker for Wharfedale. Wanting to capitalize on the popularity of Lintons (as well as the cash flow) they now introduced a so called "Super Lintons". Sorry but most people aren't naive, this is now a "Linton" at a 50% markup, justifying it by the new interior cabinet design and the new cross-over. Remember Peter Comeau stated when they released the Linton that it was the "ultimate in sound reproduction" Wharfedale is able to achieve? I own a pair of Lintons and are struggling to find the reason why someone would spend 50% more over "standard" Lintons for this "upgrade"? So - what gives? Sorry mate, not trying to be a Grinch or a negative guy but I just don't buy into all this.

there are no measurements out yet, so we dont know how much better (or worse) this new super linton speaker will be. erin (erins audio corner) has them, so he will be able to compare them to the "normal" linton. until then, everything is pure speculation...

Most reviewers say the stock Lintons were great but the tweeter had a bit of graininess to it, so they knocked it down a star because of that. This "Super" version gets its tweeter from the Dovedale, hence it should be smoother and not have that grainy sound. It is worth the extra $$$? That will be for people to decide. I'd like to compare these Super Linton with Monitor Audio Silver 500 7g (which are about $500 more) and see how they compare.
@audiovisualrevolutionptyltd2 ай бұрын
Hey @drazenbabich . Thanks for sharing your thoughts. It’s clear you’ve got a good understanding of the Lintons and a passion for the heritage series! You’re spot-on that the original Linton made a splash and that it was initially marketed as a limited edition but that the demand was so high that it’s become Wharfedale’s best-selling speaker to date. So for any business, keeping a popular product alive is a smart move, especially when some of those green backs will allow them to fund new innovations, right! How long have Air Jordans been around now? The increase in Aus is $1800. And for that additional dosh you get upgraded drivers, crossovers, and cabinet construction - that’s pretty much it. There are new binding posts but I didn’t really think it was worth a mention. Maybe I should’ve. So the increased dollars is purely going to sound quality. This is a sound quality difference. And it’s really going to be up to individual listener, getting out there to the stores and having a good ol’ fashioned demo between the two, as to whether the increase in price is worth the increase in performance. And for my money, I think it is. But, look, I was with you 100% before I heard these. I just didn’t see a reason to marginally improve the sound of Wharfedale’s highest selling loudspeaker of all time. A speaker that clearly sounds amazing as it is. A speaker that an insane amount of people around the world know and love - like yourself. Especially when there was no aesthetic difference, no way to really mark it as a distinct and advanced new model. And then I heard them. And I was like, ‘ok, I get it.’ So some folk are gonna say that this is bosh. Others are gonna buy in. And it’s really going to be up to the individual. In the end, your original Lintons are incredible. You know that. So enjoy the sh*^ outta them. You bought an absolute banger. You bought the highest selling Wharfedale speaker model… ever! And for good reason. Thanks again for your insights - this is exactly the type of conversation that makes the audio community great!

You’re gonna have to take this response with a grain of salt. I’m no reviewer. I’m certainly no audiophile. And there’s obviously bias because we import and retail IAG products… so every new thing is awesome, right! And, sure, I’ve spent years in the industry listening to a bunch of gear but nowhere near enough to do something on the level of say @DarkoAudio or @andrewrobinsonreviews or @PursuitPerfectSystem. They’re really your go-to guys before you’d step into a store and have a listen for yourself. So, with that in mind, I think Super Linton is a significant improvement on the original. I was skeptical before they turned up. But once they did and I had a listen, I got it pretty quickly. Without going into details, cause I don’t do that, everyone said how much fun Linton Heritage was. How well it played with such a wide variety of music genres. How much energy it had. And how much value for money it was. And I felt that. I spent a fair bit of time with Linton and it was exactly that: fun, lively, energetic, and really really good for the money. Now, did I think it lacked in resolution, air, and dynamics? Nope. But when Mission 770 turned up on my doorstep, those shortcomings became more apparent. But! There’s also a major difference in the price between these two speakers. Super Linton is being positioned as the step up between Dovedale and Linton Heritage. But I think it’s closer to a step up between Linton and Mission 770. Also an IAG brand and also a heritage loudspeaker. Linton Heritage: $3,399 AUD Super Linton: $5,199 AUD Mission 770: $7,299 AUD If you’ve got your eye on the original Linton but might be willing to stretch the budget for a more refined version of this killer heritage loudspeaker so many folk around the world rave on about, then I highly recommend you head to your local dealer and demo the two. Not a wasted trip in the slightest. Here in AUS, they’re 1800 bucks more. Do I feel you get $1800 of improved performance? I really do. But that’s just me. Whether others are going to is another question entirely. Guess we’ll let the internet decide that one. Thanks for your question, mate. We really appreciate the support.

Love all the engineering upgrades for better sonics. For an additional $1000, that is expected. But I think they missed a good opportunity to have made the grilles magnetic.

I'm not an expert, so take my opinion with caution. If you have the space, I would go for the Super Linton without hesitation, specially if you are pairing it with the musical fidelity a1 2023, the weight and body of the sound of the Musical Fidelity a1 with heritage inspired sound signature is sweet. I assume (have not listened the concertos), but I would guess that these will give a more modern sound signature, nothing bad with it, I also like speed, attack, definition detail. But the body of the wharfedales, missions 770, Klh_model_5, etc is pretty captivating. Either case, I suspect, that either of the two combinations you are evaluating will take you in heaven for many years. Good choices. 👍@@TheRealHipPriest

@audiovisualrevolutionptyltdАй бұрын
Not exactly. Looks like you're referencing Erin's Audio Corner: "5 Reasons Wharfedale Super Linton is the Hidden Gem of Audio Equipment". We love that dude! The difference lies in the bass dynamics (Time Stamp 12:35 of Erin's video). And as Erin says, that dynamic difference between the two, the Super Linton "it's gonna have just a little bit more oomf in that kick drum region." So, yes, you're absolutely right that is measures f3 of 77hz vs the regular Linton. But power is in its dynamic delivery. It's a more refined low end.
@Carl-bd1rfАй бұрын
@@audiovisualrevolutionptyltd An F3 of 52hz means it digs deeper than an F3 of 77hz. I have no doubt in my listening that I would be able to pick out the difference along with anyone else. A side by side comparison between the two would probably be very noticeable with the original Linton having a smoother and more natural bass tone given it rolls off at a lower frequency. Since the tweeters are different types no doubt a difference would also be noticeable there also although which one would be considered better may be of opinion. The main difference may be in the new “better” crossover in the super. One would hope there may be a slight upgrade in resolution.
