Really enjoy your daily reports on the cottage. I know Michael has spent a lot of time and money on the chimney repair but it will have a limited time before deteriorating again. Michael should look into having the chimney relined. Basically a long tube is put down the chimney and centred using blocks. Fire proof mortar is poured down the outside of the tube then it is inflated like a tyre. The pressure squeezes the mortar into all the brick crevices and creates a seal. When the tube is deflated it’s pulled out and leaves a smooth lining that can be swept regularly. This is necessary if you’re burning coal which produces a lot of soot. Just a thought 🤔
