Vals Från Orsa - Anahata, melodeon

Rob Ely from Idaho sent me a recording of himself playing this Swedish tune on a hammered dulcimer, asking if I could identify it. He had a slightly garbled version of the name, which helped me locate it, knowing that "Orsa Spelman" is the name of a well known band.
I liked it so much that I've learned it and made a harmony part. It comes in the second time through the tune, and is played off-camera.

Very nice. I'd really like to sit down and play this one with you! There is another "Orsa vals" on a recording from Björn Ståbi and Bengan Jansson which I'm sure you'd like. It's on the album "Lyckovalsen".

In the next few months I’m planning to order my first Button Melodeon. A Dino Baffetti Black Pearl II, DG, with a Bass Stop to remove the thirds and your keyboard layout. What voicing do you recommend, Demi swing, swing, dry etc.?Thanks!🪗🎻🙂😎

It's really a matter of taste - choose what you like! Mine is swing tuned, with quite a slow beat (or you might call it demi swing, not sure what that means.) If you're going to use the thirds stop on the bass side, it probably doesn't make much sense to have a wet tuned treble. Full chords and wet tuning are for loud, raucous dance music like morris. Slower swing or dry seem to go with the thinner texture of LH thirds out for more subtle kinds of music (as well as for playing in minor keys, or course.) It really depends on what you want to use it for and what sound you like.
