After seeing your video I decided to get a couple of copies of this book and give it to my nieces at Thanksgiving in hopes that they too find in its words of wisdom that internal peace i once found in it and agree with you it's a book of life to reference and help us reflect thought out our lives

I first read The Prophet a year and a half ago on a drunken night. I cried, like ugly cried, because of how beautiful that book was after every part. The Prophet changed my perspective on many things and arguably my life. Love this book so much.

Dear Ana, much appreciated the timely reminder of the interdependence of joy and sorrow, as it’s right now something I can benefit by reflecting upon. And as I face farewelling work and facing uncertain health from a degenerative condition, so many parts of the chapters spring to mind , yet the lifelong one , for me is about giving and receiving. Kahlil’s poetic wording invites and challenges me to remain open to both, as yonder field does. I have lived a life around service to others and still there are daily challenges and changes now to what I can manage, and this in turn can invoke fear control and a lack of ‘flow’. The Prophet is a beautiful classic and is something that can (and should) be read over and over throughout one's lifetime so it is great to hear that you do just that. I recently ordered it for my girlfriend's birthday along with "Rumi's Little Book of Life" (you might like to look into that specific title as the translator, Maryam Mafi, is an Iranian woman thus giving it an authentic depth and richness compared to alternatives. I also ordered "The Earth Gods" by Kahlil Gibran for myself :) Namaste

You have precisely explained it in an easy words of English and also your pace of talking is neither very quick nor slow and that’s why it made me to understand at least 45 % in order to this percent was my passing marks up to post graduations but some time it do occurs in 39 or 51 too. Awww...This was great. My middle name is actually Gibran, after my father's favorite author. My relationship with my father is a little rocky, so for the longest time I never inquired much into the meaning of my middle name, nor did I know how to pronounce it haha. When I graduated highschool he gave me this book, but at the time I never took it seriously. I held onto the book the whole time and your video just sparked my interest in it again. Thank you! I have actually read The Prophet about three times. I am currently leading a book reading / discussion group. Each of those readings reading have provided insight and a shift in thinking about one of his topics. One of my favorites is on clothes. "And though you seek in garments the freedom of privacy you may find in them a harness and a chain." I see this as the burden of vanity especially when we purchase more clothing than we need and are always trying to keep on top of fashions & trends. Next is the line that goes, "Forget not that modesty is for a shield against the eye of the unclean." Many a girl has been blamed that she was attacked because she was not dressed modestly. That is a sad excuse of the perpetrator who is unable to control himself. And lastly, "Would that you could meet the sun and the wind with more of your skin and less of your raiment, For the breath of life is in the sunlight and the hand of life is in the wind." There is nothing better than the feeling of sun and wind on your skin and in your face.

An outstanding book is this. I love the part which explain about beauty And a poet said, Speak to us of Beauty. And he answered: Where shall you seek beauty, and how shall you find her unless she herself be your way and your guide? And how shall you speak of her except she be the weaver of your speech? The aggrieved and the injured say, “Beauty is kind and gentle. Like a young mother half-shy of her own glory she walks among us.” And the passionate say, “Nay, beauty is a thing of might and dread. Hello dear. Thank you. There's a sculptor/ painter called Kalil Gibran but he was a relative of the famous Kalil Gibran. The one you are talking about was born somewhere around 1880's and died around 1930' s. Maybe he was also a painter and I'm the one who is confused. Correct me. Thank you.
