What ideology Anakin express during the picnic scene with Padme, is an old philosophy from Greece called the Philosopher King, that is basically a dictator, someone old and wise, you take the lead and shut down any kind of dissidence, is was a very popular idea back in ancient Greece and the late Roman Republic, but the Greek city states learned the hard way that was a very bad idea, when a General and late politician take control of one of the city bringing his army and only caused a lot of bloodshed, you can say the same thing with Sulla, but Sulla was intelligent enough to see that he passed a line that he should not cross, and that would open the door to anyone to do the same.

I know this video is about Anakin, but I have some words to day about your analysis of Obi-Wan thus far (note that I haven’t seen your analysis videos on his character yet but I will watch it when I'm finished with Anakin's). I appreciate how in these videos when discussing how Obi-Wan's dismissivness and unwillingness to trust Anakin played into some of resentment towards him and the Order, but that you don't imply that Obi-Wan is intentionally doing that. He's learning how to be a teacher, and having his first student be so important and a unique Padawan is no doubt taxing for him and so his mistakes are amplified and he retreats into certain mannerisms to deal with the heavy weight he carries. While it was an unfortunate result in making Anakin feel conflicted, Obi-Wan still clearly cared for Anakin and wanted what was best for him, but he's human and made mistakes, so his good intentions didn’t always have the best impacts. That's also why I liked when Obi-Wan apologized during his fight with Vader in the Kenobi show, he realized his mistakes and felt sorry for the role he played in Anakin's fall. While the ultimate choice in turning to the dark side was Anakin's and thus not Obi-Wan's fault, he nonetheless had *some* responsibility in how Anakin's life turned out. So by facing that guilt head-on and forgiving himself, he became a better teacher for when it was time to help Luke.

Another great analysis. I was looking forward to this one, because I love it whenever someone looks past some of the surface awkwardness of the romance scenes and really gets into what makes Anakin and Padme click. You did not disappoint
@cowboys88977 ай бұрын
Yeah, I don't understand how Anakin and Padme being somewhat awkward around each other is a bad thing. It makes perfect sense and is very enduring for some reason. Maybe it's because when you think of Anakin Skywalker you think of Darth Vader, a fearsome sith lord. So seeing him as a 19 year old boy who is nervous to be around a girl who he likes is very relatable and cute. Makes you forget who he becomes because at times, he's just like anyone else. As a 19 year old girl who has NO experience with boys at all, I'm pretty sure I'd be an awkward mess around a guy I have feelings for😂😂😂😂

Thank you, thank you! yeah I really wanted to tackle their love story head on, cause like you said sometimes I think people look past some of the scenes or just miss the bigger picture.

man I was quite disappointed you didnt include the deleted scenes in this videos! I watched Lukes video first and was thinking it was a shame you didnt talk about them then, but specially for this movie with Ani they add a lot!! all the scenes of Anakin visiting Padmés family are a delight and have so many details too, my favourite being how he mentions that he never really had a home,home was where his mom was(which btw in the clone wars shows there was an episode where he called 500 republica home and Padmé was emotional about it and so was I lol. And also shows how he doesnt think of the jedi temple as home in any way,which was mentioned in a couple of books too)

Thanks for keeping up the great work Kazi. When the algorithm has clogged my feed with doom and gloom, I know I can come back and get a cleansing dose of thoughtful analysis of my favorite characters. You put so well into words what many of us felt growing up and watching these films, the lessons they taught us and the examples they set are more than just silly space movies. Keep it real bro. ❤

For me the biggest turning point of Anakin was the killing the Sand People. We all know he had a dark streak losing his mother and getting revenge was his first steps towards the dark side. Sure its one thing to fight and kill in a war but what Anakin did was pure murder he gave into violence and that set him on the path he’d take to becoming Darth Vader.
@EricGraham943 ай бұрын
But let’s not forget - his venting in front of Padme not only sets in motion his inevitable fall from grace, but it also sows the seeds of his eventual redemption. Anakin might’ve justified himself in murdering that tribe out of blind rage and pure vengeance, BUT he was also disgusted with himself - especially when he says “I’m a Jedi… I KNOW I’m better than this…” Anakin might be reckless and headstrong - an eagerness to BE the best of the Jedi - but in trying to be the best, back in his mind, he’s still got that conscience that he knew he shouldn’t have done that.

Interesting that you don't catch that Anakin's view on dictatorship as good governance most likely stems from the fact that he was a slave, so the democratic process wouldn't have much appeal to him. He lived a simple life, as oppressive as it could be, and so would naturally be inclined to the same as a form of government - so long as it were benevolent.
@EricGraham943 ай бұрын
It’s also a reflection of Anakin’s mentality to take action as opposed to what the Council and Senate have done consistently - sit around and debate and nothing gets done. That same system where nothing got done has led to - YES - the slavery that Anakin and his mother had to endure.
