I've always felt the same way about this song. I was a sophomore in high school. It just resonates. I can always close my eyes and picture myself lying in the soft grass and pulling my baseball cap over my eyes as a hawk goes soaring by, ignoring my mom as she's calling out to me. And just feeling that warm, gentle, late-spring breeze, breathing in the fresh scent of country air as if all other motion froze and time stood still. Yeah, see what I did there?

The line “Too many hands on my time” is so brilliant it just slays me. Of course, the usual expression is “Too much time on my hands,” but I’ve never understood it, or at least never felt that way. I’ve never wanted less time, or for the hours to pass more quickly. I can fill up all the hours I have (or will ever have) and still want more. But I understand “Too many hands on my time” all too well. You can’t spend your time the ways you want to because too many people can lay claim to it. And it’s not that that’s all bad. Some of those people you love: friends, parents, significant others, eventually kids. It’s just that there’s not much left over. When I first heard that lyric four decades ago, I recognized Neil Peart as a kindred spirit.

Guys. No need to fight over Lifeson solos! The guy was just a guitar genius. There are too many crazy inventive, emotive solos to choose from. He is such a unique guitarist and yet absolutely perfect for the band he put together. Three ridiculously talented musicians, a trio no less, who somehow found each other and built a 40 plus year career. The guys who wrote 2112, Hemispheres, A Farewell to Kings, Moving Pictures, Signals, Grace Under Pressure; HELL! All of them! That same band went out the right away. Still Together, still doing what they wanted as a band and as musicians! They went out with Clockwork Angels as the very same geniuses . They took themselves out of the game on top, forever preserving their legacy as one of the greatest bands and live bands of all time.

Way too many songs to throw at you guys, but before we all do, I think it’s time you take a break and hop a train ride to Bangkok, that is - A Passage to Bangkok- the live version from Exit Stage Left, and crank up high. Alex is completely in his comfort zone on this one, and imho, at his peak at this point in time and just rips this solo out of his soul. It's one of those solos that has me grinning ear to ear as notes just stream effortlessly off his fingers and what makes me love Big Al soo much! One of my all time feel good songs from the Triumvirate; could listen to it a dozen times in a row when I’m driving on a long trip. Look, I've been a Toronto-area resident my whole life (60 years young) and I absolutely love Rush, a Canadian treasure and in my top 5 bands of all time, and Analog Kid is an excellent song off an underrated album but the song would barely make my top 30 for Rush - that's how many frickin' amazing tunes they have. Alex's solo is smokin' and very reminiscent, for me, of early, classic Deep Purple and guitarist Ritchie Blackmore, but for me - 2112, A Farewell To Kings, Closer to the Heart, Camera Eye, Limelight, Tom Sawyer, YYZ, Xanadu, Freewill, Entre Nous, Red Barchetta, Subdivisions, Red Sector A, Working Man, Freewill, Circumstances, Anthem, Fly By Night, Best That I Can, In The Mood, Lakeside Park, Passage To Bangkok, Digital Man, New World Man, The Weapon, Chemistry, Big Money and Time Stand Still - 28 in total - are all better songs than Analog Kid, and Analog Kid is an 'A' grade song at the very least. Just my opinion after listening to them for more than 45 years.
