@@truecuckoo I have been on my own journey and coming back to your videos has given me the details that and helped me to reflect on what I have learned.. for example understanding the slight nuance between recording samples, where they sit inside, I have also started the process of creating "sounds" from each of my samples as I would like to be able to use them in different kits.. I truly love this piece of kit.. I am so enthusiastic it.. It was cool to see how you did a multi chord sample and then were still able to come back in and out.. so your buffer is maintained .. I think with practice use of the sampler can be used as a part of a live performance.. I am hoping to "get into" this at some stage.. I am letting time show me the depths of this machine and your videos really help to reinforce my learning thanks again.. RRRRRIIITM user appreciation society!!

t’s nice to have a channel doing such a good content. I’m trying to figure out what is better for me. An Analog Rytm mkt 2 or the digitakt + the syntak. I need one or the other to create my own drum samples in the studio.. I work a lot with sound design and in the DAW I usually use synth and sample layers to make my own drum sounds. When I say digitakt + syntak it’s because I’m thinking about syncing the MIDI of the two devices and layering the synth (of syntak) with samples (of the digitakt). Example: in digitakt a clap sample and in the syntak a synth model clap. I’m trying to figure out which choice has more sound design power. In the Analog Rytm mkt 2 I can resample… but in the digitakt + syntak it looks like there is a bigger range of sounds for me to tweak and experiment with. What would be your suggestion? Thank you!

Oh man, that example resampling the individual tracks is an eye opener. I assumed it would record the sample with FX baked in, but I guess it makes sense it doesn't, like when you use overbridge out, the tracks never have the FX on them, because like you said, it's on the main outs only. Makes sense, but potentially a real gotcha if you aren't paying attention. Great that you pointed that out. So if you want the FX intact when resampling, you'd have to just sample the main outs, and make sure they other tracks are muted, if playing a sequence. But even then, the FX will sound different as any panning or width will be summed up into mono. So what is the solution to resample, with FX, and with the stereo space? I guess that would be to record stereo out into a DAW (or Octatrack), edit the sample in stereo and then transfer it back into the Rytm. A shame they can't make that a little more streamlined. Okay, back to watching your vid now! haha. Great, as always!
@truecuckoo6 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Yeah it’s a machine full of possibilities. But it’s designed to play back mono samples. If a stereo sample is loaded into the Rytm, it will be converted into mono. However samples can be panned. And the reverb is adding a stereo feel to things.

A great Tut. Thanks. i plan to buy this great machine. But one question i cant find a awnser so i hope you can be so kind to help. Does the FX maby on a Instrument also be routed thru the seperate outs ? Maby if you have some FX on the CLP, does it also goes Thru the CLP Seperate output. On my very old Machine drum it was not , so for me this is a very important function to have it also on the seperate outs and not just on the Main. Thanks and stay health !!!!

Hi Cuckoo. I had a beat all perfected with guitar samples etc that took hours on the MK2. Just for fun I decided to play with the scale. Function + Scale and try it out in all the other besides 64/64 x1... It wasn't in step record mode or anything, but this ended up ruining the beat. Any idea why that happened? I finally brought the scale back to its original state "64/64 x1" and the beat just wasn't the same at all and it would not play through all 4 bars like it initially did when created, it only played the sounds in the first bar x4...

Hey Cuckoo, if you have a polymetric pattern, let's say A1 and a regular one A2. How do you switch between A1 and A2? Do you need to set the common multiplier of the polymetric parts as the clock length? For instance, a 4 step track and a 3 step track will come together every 12 repeats. Hope this makes sense.

Sorry, but it seems you're dealing with polymeter, not polyrhythm. Having different pattern lengths on different tracks = polymeter. Having triplets parallel to non-triplets (etcetera) = polyrhythm. Here's a good description with notation and all: music.stackexchange.com/questions/10488/polymeter-vs-polyrhythm Arturia has it misprinted on their Drumbrute frontpanel button - don't let it spread. ;-)
@truecuckoo7 жыл бұрын
Ok ok ok, gotcha. So for polyrhythmic on the Elektrons, the only way is to sequence carefully with micro timing? Polymeter it is then.
@truecuckoo7 жыл бұрын
I'll pick up polyrhythmic again later. Being a listener of both folk, and contemporary jazz, I'm no stranger to true polyrhythmic.
@MattiasRickardsson7 жыл бұрын
Great! It deserves to be exposed more. Both terms also deserve to be spread more, possibly straightening out which is which, and enabling more musicians to use and understand them in both theory and practice. These off-the-binary-grid structures are important and lovely! :-)
@dushdy71607 жыл бұрын
I've read that if you set one tracks tempo multiplier to x3/4 every step should play a straight 8th triplet, but I can't confirm it yet and don't know about other divisions. Hopefully the Octa MKII will arrive tomorrow as my first Elektron - probably never been so excited for a device. :) Thanks for all your helpful Videos, Cuckoo! I feel through watching your videos I'll aready have a quite good grasp of its features, when starting out. Besides, of course, from actually realizing the Octatracks full potential not until I've found your channel, hehe
@bildungsmangel7 жыл бұрын
You can do polyrythms on the octatrack, when you set the "scale mode" in "pattern settings" to "per track". Then you can assign one track's "scale" to "3/4x" or "3/2x", while keeping the master at "1x" to create polyrythms.
