Would you be able to do a video on the magnetic resistor sensor I was asking about how they operate and there workings and thanks for the reply and keep up the vids as good to see someone going in-depth on this kind of stuff

But may you have a 3 wires sensor and its a VRS sensor such as in hyundai Tucson 2006 diesel Crankshaft position sensor. Toyota hilux 2009 Crankshaft position sensor. For these cars have 3 wires but its VRS because the third wire is shield.

You're absolutely correct. I tell my students often that "it depends" as things change all the time. To date though, most 2 wire sensors are VR type. Although now we have to be careful as many MR sensors (especially in a wheel speed sensor position) are also 2 wire but work completely differently!

Would that be a vr sensor type ???

Just out of curiosity if magnetic resistor sensor is the same output signal as a Hall effect sensor could a Hall effect sensor be used on the same ecu as the magnetic type?? Sorry to ask
@pccastengineperformance78443 жыл бұрын
Theoretically It might be able to, but the trigger or target wheel would also have to be changed to one with slots that would work with the Hall sensor. Those slots would have to replicate the same pattern as the MR sensor produced in the direction of normal rotation. The bigger issue is that the MR sensor in newer applications can also indicate movement in the opposite direction through a change in output, which the Hall effect is not capable of doing.

So what kind of crank sensor uses a magnetic wheel as a trigger as has no teeth how does this operate as it has 3 wires on this crankshaft sensor???
@pccastengineperformance78443 жыл бұрын
That style is not a VR, which requires some kind of a toothed wheel to work. The sensor your asking about is a Magneto-Resistive sensor, which has a digital output like a Hall Effect sensor in that application.
