I had one for years. I found the eq was a bit to fast. For rough things it was fine. The faders are a bit too short for my taste. Where the midas really shines, is all the routing possibilities and the durability of the unit. Because of all the routing features, it is really an electronic music production dream or a superb live console. If you are ok with the eq and the short faders, grab one!

Chick from Atlanta Pro Music put me on to it when it first came out and gave me a demo while we drank beers. My favorite small console, especially when you control the routing digitally.

That Six sounds really nice and punchy. I might need one

Great vid and nice jam! Rewatching while I wait on delivery of a used 240 that I found recently for a good price. I've been on a journey the last couple of years testing a bunch of mixers in my home studio: Mackie Onyx, various Boss BX/KM series, Korg MW2408, SSL Six and Big Six, SSL X-Desk (shameless plug: you can see those videos on my channel!) - but I've got a feeling that the Venice is going to be 'the one'.

Thank you! Interesting to read that you ditched the Big Six for this, will check your channel for sure! All the best, Tobi

@@tobitweaks I love the B6, but I generally prefer colour and vibe in my my studio gear, to convenience and hi-fidelity (except when it comes to computer and interface, obvs!) - and most importantly, I need way more than 2 aux sends for my hardware fx! but yeah will be interesting to see how it goes with the Midas

Can barely hear the kick om the Midas, but the on the SSL it's really thick and juicy. How can this be? I was quite surprised by the vast difference in sound...

Same impression! Bass response seems to be not quite there on the Midas 🤔

I think it's an EQ thing.... just give a lil boost to the knobs on the Midas

Not the same tho isn‘t it? But maybe that‘s why it‘s still loved in electronic dance music?

The midas has more (mono) channels in use than the, i think, 3 stereo channels on the ssl.

Hi Toby, which preamps are better for studio recording purposes, Mackie VLZPRO or Midas Venice 240?
@tobitweaksАй бұрын
Hi! It should be the Midas as they have dedicated direct outs for multitrack recording! The Mackie shines more as a Keyboard router for example if you always record only two tracks. Hope that helps! All the best, Tobi

Kann man die Preamps saturieren? Das hätte mich interessiert, wie eine leicht angezerrte Drummachine durch ihre Einzel-Outs und entsprechenden EQs klingt :) Ansonsten, danke für die Soundbeispiele
@tobitweaks3 ай бұрын
Moin!

Summing gives a little bit more of space/depth to the mix, not much but still noticeable

How can you say compare to the ssl six, then playback a completely different mix altogether than the one played before straight through the Venice, while simultaneously routing the SSL mix through the Venice channels?? Come on, this abandons common sense. lol. We are still hearing the Venice.
@tobitweaks11 ай бұрын
What do you mean routing the SSL through the Venice Channels? You are hearing the individual consoles, just the balance is not 100% on point as the Venice does not have stepped gain controls. All the best, Tobi

@@tobitweaksI mean, Do you not also have the outputs of the SSL Six going through the Venice as indicated by the meters when you unmute the channels on it while playing that mix? Or when the camera cuts back and forth between both consoles is it playing a different sound or is it the same?
