As an electrical engineer, this just gave me a new way to think of inductance that I never thought of before

Wonderful!

Love the analogy! I'll plan to use it with my students.

Thanks. I never realized it until I sat down to write videos about LR circuits and noticed all the similarities. I think it can be really helpful for understanding this concept which can be very difficult to visualize.

@@FlippingPhysics As a mechanical engineer, I've always liked the analogy of water flowing in a piping system being like electrons flowing in a circuit. Flow rate is like electrical current and pressure difference across a restriction is like voltage difference across a resistor. In fact, there is an almost exact analogy to Ohm's Law (I = V/R), where fluid flow is directly proportional to the pressure that is pushing it, and inversely proportional to the friction losses in the system. In fact, we can use the ΔP across an orifice just like we use the ΔV across a resistor to measure the fluid flow!

Will there be any more AP Physics 1 Videos or are they all in the Ultimate Review Packet? (Which I already purchased and really like so far!)
@FlippingPhysics16 күн бұрын
Glad you think the Ultimate Review Packet is helpful! Yes, there will be more AP Physics 1 videos. I am finishing up my fluids specific topic videos because that topic was added to AP Physics 1 for the 2025 exam. And I still need to do more unit specific videos for the updated 2025 exam. And I'll be adding more stuff to my Ultimate Review Packet. So, yes.

Do you really wake up at 4 AM? At what time do you hit the sack?
@FlippingPhysics8 ай бұрын
I did on this particular day. I don't normally wake up that early, however, when you have 3 other people living in your house and in order to film everybody in the house has to be quiet, sometimes your brain wakes you up at 4 AM and screams "YOU COULD FILM RIGHT NOW!!".
