Thanks for the great video! I just bought a Polaroid 636 Close Up camera and want tot learn how to do magic!! About the transparency technique.. I tried it but it was almost completely white. Nice LUT on your video. It looks great. This has given me a real ideas boost for future projects with my photography. Any idea what the longest amount of time is before the chemicals stick to the image? I tried this on a really old failed image just to practice my cutting technique (which was awful. i think ill use a mat and a ruler hehe). The chemicals were fixed to the image on this old print.
@MrCshmn
@MrCshmn 3 жыл бұрын
edit: i just read a reply where you said about 20 mins. So something to keep in mind before anyone tries this is this technique is not really to be used on photos you take when you are away from home/workspace.

Lets take your friend's foamboard layers as an example - If I were to mount a small LED light in the back and add another white board (so the light illuminates the white board and we can see the images through the front), or even just mounting the back of the art to a window - would the black fade away over time due to the light / sun interaction? I know Polaroids don't fade (despite what they say), but not sure about direct sunlight. What would be interesting is mounting the transparencies on glass, hanging them and letting light shine through, giving the impression of the old Glass Positives.
@AnalogThings
@AnalogThings 6 жыл бұрын
Hey, it depends but all sources of light will fade the image with time also i would not go to close with LED to the transparency, i know they don't generate alot of heat but still that little bit could effect the image. Since the Chemistry is PO and we have no long time information for that film i would not expose it for long time to UV light, they will fade i'm pretty sure. But i will take one transparency and glue it to my window to see what happens after a month of winter "sun"

You're a legend! Thank you for sharing your talents with us. How long do you recommend waiting after the exposure before pealing the transparency? I have found that the color emulsion is unforgiving but from what I can tell black and white is easier to separate.
@AnalogThings
@AnalogThings 6 жыл бұрын
+Link LOLZ Haha Thanks Link. I would suggest to wait till the images is finally developed and then you got a timeframe of 10-15min in which i have the best results. Transparencies for me only work with black and white.

Great video! You may know this already, but if you wash away the white stuff, on the back side, you will get a negative. Not a clear negative like film, but a negative of the image.

Analog Things Thank you for your videos, they are full of much appreciated details. I do wonder on the transparencies if you have found a way to gently remove the small bits of white left behind or even larger bits. To what degree should you be satisfied to leave them?
