I agree with everything you said, except for the Retro Mando figures. I did actually ask for those, and I'm excited to receive them. I'm also excited to receive that 6 inch Greedo. With that said, there is NO customizer like Stan Solo. Chris' stuff is INCREDIBLE.

I got that Greedo, and I like it, but I'm disappointed that they made no modifications whatsoever to the mould, for the money they were asking for it. That, and the paint on mine was sloppy.

Stan Solo rocks. Ordered a Yak Face and Blue Snaggletooth because I was never going to pay ebay prices for an original and I'm blown away by the quality. They fit right in with my vintage figures. From the time I ordered to the time they delivered in Canada was just over a week. I plan on making many more purchases from him. Take a hike, Hasbro.

Compared to other companies, big and small, Chris is actually shipping figures. He's delivered every time and it's never a long wait, considering the logistics. Hope these new figures never end.

I’m all for Stan Solo’s reproductions! Look! I was born in 71. I saw Star Wars upon its first release. I got the Kenner toys when they first hit the shelves. I’m getting old. LOL! I want good reproductions before I’m gone. I think the whole Star Wars line should be reproduced exactly as they were made when they first came out. Including the vehicles. Exact colors! Everything! Stickers and all! All these collectors sitting on their $500.00 originals can kiss my ass. I don’t care if the value of their collections goes down. It should’ve never been about greedy collectors making money. I pre-ordered my Slave Leia and I can’t wait to finally have her with Jabba.

Unfortunately the Hasbro Retro Collection is sold exclusively in Australia and the retailers jack up the price. We pay around $25 AUD per figure.

What baffles me is how people complain about soft goods (real fabric) capes and cloaks. Over 50 years on, the brown fabric Jawa robe still stands up as one of the best examples out there, and the recent TVC Jedi Luke is the best version of that figure yet!

Heh. I only ever saw POTF figures ONCE at Kay*Bee, and because it was Kay*Bee, they were FIVE WHOLE DOLLARS EACH! So I figured I'd look for them elsewhere for a better price . . . and never saw them again, until they started showing up for $100 in comic book shops, 10 years later. 🤣

As a young collector in his late 20s , I absolutely love the original Kenner figure line from The late 70s early 80s . I collected the first 12 and others including a couple of grails figures including authentic blue snag and an amanaman and even a rare bootleg Turkish luke figure I had purchased a while back . I always wanted the droids cartoon figures c3p0 and r2 but could never find one at the right price Especially with them being so rare . I came across stan solo and his etsy and was able to purchase the droid figures and loved them ! His work is very superb and the quality is amazing . My friend has both of those figures loose and carded and I compared them and they don’t skip a beat ! I would love to own more of his figures ! As a collector who has nothing against repro so as long as people are aware of it , I back what he’s doing ! Keep them coming ! Allows big collectors like myself the opportunity to grasp these amazing figures at a fairly low cost with great craftsmanship ! Great video !

Collecting on a limited budget can be very punishing and its a shame that the Stan Solo figures remain outside my price range, for now, but I would be far more confident buying them than inflated vintage prices. The retro collection from Hasbro worked for me as it gave me an "in" to having a range of pristine looking figures with their accessories. Yes the quality especially in the first wave isnt up to scratch but visually they work for me. I was really looking forward to the announcement of the third wave as I was anticipating ROTJ figures. Now I have nothing against The Mandalorian as I have enjoyed the series hugely but I was so disappointed at Hasbro's decision it took me seconds to decide against getting them. I guess the bonus of collecting on a limited budget is that I am much more careful with my choices and the excitment of getting a couple of figures now easily matches that of my best childhood toy memories. Keep up the great work Tony.

I guess I’m weird in that I’d rather have reproductions of this quality than originals, which I’d be scared of damaging and which often have yellowing blister bubbles and the like. They were made as mass produced items anyway, not limited editions, so why be precious about them?

I would be happy to pay the prices asked for by Stan Solo. I no longer collect Star Wars figures - the sequels took that magic away - and the only two Hasbro Retro figures I'd want, would be Tarkin, and the Snowspeeder Luke. I do not want the games they come with, though - I've still got my original Death Star Escape game from 1977 - complete, battered, but still playable, and I've heard that the ESB game isn't very good. I can easily do without those figures. I wouldn't like to meet that 'Amanamaul' character on a dark night, by the way. 'Amanaman' is creepy enough, but 'Amanamaul' cranks that up to a whole new level of 'Nope'. Brilliant figures, though.

I keep hearing about the fuss about the price of these figures, so thought I would finally take a trip to the Etsy page and see what all the fuss was about ... I had no idea the Stan Solo figures were as cheap as they were! There are reproduction/custom vintage figures out there that easily cost well over £100. These are cheap by comparison ... and better.

Not into star wars like that but it's awesome that someone is reproducing the vintage line and at a reasonable price, from what you've shown only the customs cost a little more. It's the same with gijoe for me, casters sell the joe heads for $6, $6 more dollars would get you a repo star wars fig so I don't see the issue

Exactly! I missed out on Amanaman back in the 1980s, didn't see him in person until he was starting to show up loose in comic book shops for US$100 in the 1990s, and now the hoarders are demanding OBSCENE amounts of money for the originals. The cost of one of these repros is maybe one-fifth of a Mint Loose Complete POTF one, maybe even less.

I believe the key word throughout this excellent Stan Solo Creations Amanaman review video, is QUALITY. Even though I'm not a Star Wars collector, I can appreciate and value Chris Smith's expertise in creating a product that screams QUALITY and quite frankly, puts Hasbro to shame. I just wish the ( so called ) big toy companies were more interested in producing toys to this standard, rather than some of the dross they churn out. And don't get me started about Hasbro's ( current ) incredibly stupid choice of figures, vehicles and playsets. Oh, and let's not forget the QUALITY of this review video by Tony, for Analog Toys. 😁

I've been nothing but impressed with Stan Solo figures. I'm a huge fan of the 000 character, and the Hasbro figure is disappointing with the fig's plates falling off figure way to easily. I finally ordered the 000 from Stan Solo after watching your and others positive feedback, and it is such a good figure. Just top notch quality and a great look in that vintage design. Even the Stan Solo astromechs are more solid that the current droids (which I do like) from Hasbro, I've got a few of the droid factory "build a droids" and the legs just aren't as tight as the one gray R2 Stan Solo, just another example of a great figure. I'm not going to tell folks what to do with the cash-money, get whatever figure you want, I like a good number of the Hasbro figures, especially the vintage series 3.75 stuff, but you honestly can't go wrong with one of the old school types of figs. Good stuff.

For the record I do enjoy Hasbro as a Toy Company, but to be fair that is for new sculpts and new lines of toys, like for example a Transformers figure made for the current line. Not a Gen 1 rerelease of the classic "Penny Racers" scale Bumblebee. Call backs are fine I have a Generations Seaspray and Cosmos in my collection. As well I own two Droid Factory models not positive on the names as they are in storage but I do find them excellent. But again that is for modern lines, not something made by a company they bought out and own molds to, nor playsets built around a classic format. I love Stan's work and Support such creative and understandable price ranges he is a fan making for the fans of the old school in a place Hasbro misses the mark dozens of times. When I get the chance I hope to buy from his shop, maybe a custom Astromech color scheme in carded as I collect loose toys first. I do have to say at least Hasbro isn't rebooting a 30 year old series that has been running in a format for ten years (Modeled or CG the franchise has continuity) to reboot into a flash cartoon all to save production cost for toys that may not even be steam locomotives! Looking at you Mattel you are screwing up Sodor!

The prices are high, yes...BUT one pays a retail premium for ANYTHING Star Wars in the toy aisles of department stores and the quality of the product is weak, at best. I know there is quite a difference in the value of the dollar from when I collected action figures as a boy, but nowhere near justifying the prices on this modern Hasbro junk. Seriously, how hard is it for them make the guns fit in the hands if the figures, point straight and not fall out? They've had over 40 years to figure it out...

He is one of those characters you know who he is, I do anyway, because he is visible. They stick with the skulls, hanging by their hair is visible and they put him in scenes like Han Solo hanging on the wall. Our first view of Solo in ROTJ. It's also interesting that this character is probably more popular that a lot of other characters in Star Wars lore. Especially modern. People will buy that character.

I would have like to have seen more time spent reviewing the figure than just bagging on Hasbro. I think the Stan Solo stuff is great but I also like the Retro collection. If nothing else I can certainly agree that those that constantly scream "no repro!" as a battle cry to fight some social injustice can stick it up their collective asses.

Anybody ever done stormtroopers armour camouflage patterns or hoth troopers in different coloured uniforms ? Always thought about buying up lots when I was younger and creating different regiments. Someone point in the right direction via a website ?

Ask for the seller to send a pic of the back of the card (Stan Solo logo at the bottom) or the back of the left thigh (date stamp will be removed). Or, if you're worried that they'll do a bait-and-switch, you'll just have to buy one in person at a comic shop or convention.
