The Mego 3 3/4" Dukes Of Hazzard figure line also has inconsistent articulation. The Bo & Luke figures are very similar to GI Joe figures while the rest of the line features only five poa.

I remember one commercial for these toys to this day, including lyrics: "They're the A-TEAM! (yeah they're soldiers of fortune), They're the A-TEAM! (helpin' people in need) / You can pretend that you're Hannibal, Murdoch or Face! Or even B.A. Baracus (you know each one is an ace)!' I watched the show faithfully, and after 40 years I have one lingering question: did anybody EVER pay them?

Yo sucka! BA had the tag lines 😂
@melvert334 ай бұрын
George Peppard was an alcoholic by this stage in his career and because he has been a movie star he resented Mr T being the most popular with the fans leading to a lot of tension on set. There was a docu about it, Mr T was fairly magnanimous about it as he knew Peppards alcoholism was a major factor in the problem. It was a bit sad to hear those details.

This was great, Tony. You’re the first person I “know” who had/has these toys. I saw them everywhere as a kid, including the grocery store, believe it or not. I hated the generic bodies and terrible face sculpts and saw them for the GI Joe ripoffs they were, and like a lot of us of that generation, I was all-in on Joe since 1982. However… I DID have one Gen. Patch figure I got in 1983, purely because I wanted a General Flagg for my Joes. The package said the weapons smelled like battle(?) but they smelled like plastic to me. Believe me, I smelled them a lot, wondering what I was missing. Until now I had no idea Gen. Patch was re-purposed for the A-Team, thanks to your video. Makes total sense!! Thanks for that. Again, well done. This was a nice trip down Amnesia Lane for this old kid.

When the wings broke off of the jet, I just pretended it was a rocket. The heads of the figures were hollow and made of soft rubber, different from the bodies. My brother and I stole the tiny rubber bands from my sister’s braces supplies. We’d put them on the figure’s wrists to hold their weapons in place. I also had a die cast van some other company made. Same scale, sliding side door, but it had a likeness of B.A. molded into the driver’s seat. I liked that the bad guys didn’t look like soldiers but generic goons - it was one of the only things from the toy line that was true to the show

I came looking for this video after my children found an M60 in my old Lego box. I had the A-Team boat, it went well in the bath, it got re-purposed over many years and was only a hull when it went down the stream at my parents in the 90s. The figures broke at some stage and are inside a metal pipe in the garden at my parent’s house 😢 happy days watching the A-Team on a Saturday and jumping out of a tree with my toy M16! Great video Tony! I had all these figures but not the vehicles as a kid. I love the A-team. I recently acquired the Arco M24 Assault rifle play set (video on my channel) and it put me back into an A-team obsession. But once I started looking into the cost of these vintage figures and vehicles I slowed right down as I knew the quality of these vintage toys just wasn't there. I will always keep my eyes open for A-team figures and vehicles especially the GMC van but it's more of the nostalgia of my childhood than collecting a great piece. Thank you for the great look at the A-team toys we know and loved! Cheers man!

A good ol' fashioned toyline retrospective to start the week, thanks Tony! I remember seeing that 4 figure pack sold in bazaars in my neighborhood which were the only places we could find toys, back then the nearest toy stores were in big malls like a city away. At first I thought they were bootleg GI-Joes because they all look so generic and they also sold lots of knockoff gobots and Voltrons, too.
@matts11664 ай бұрын
There are more A-Team toys than this. There was a really cheap Van and Corvette sold through the department store Pamida here in the US. They weren't just knock-offs, as they had full-on A-Team stickers and logos. They were MUCH cheaper than even these and you could get them for just a few bucks. No windows in the van (just cutouts), you couldn't get to the rear seats, and the only way to get a driver and passenger in was through the tiny sunroof. The Vette was totally sealed, but did have a windshield. They were scaled to be just a bit bigger than my 1989 Batmobile.

Amazing retrospect. ❤️ We had some of these growing up. Specifically I think it was a 4 pack of the cast. They were so cheap and fragile, with the goofy rubber heads and crossed eyes lol. I think we were too focused on Joes to get any of the vehicles. They were more just back ground characters and I remember at least one of them having firecracker burn marks…😇 my bro, me and the neighborhood kids played really hard with our toys. I recall having more fun with the bigger 5POA figures. We also had some of the bad guys at that scale, which was similar to the Karate Kid scale toys our dad surprised us with including the Dojo and several figures one summer visiting him. Good times! 👍

Brilliant video, thank you! I had the figures as a kid (and recently managed to get them again in good condition from eBay). I also had die-cast versions of the van and Face's Corvette, and the van had a sliding door on the side.I also had a die-cast General Lee that seemed to come from the same range. Were they the Ertl versions? And do the Ertl versions of the van and Corvette fit the figures just as well as the Galoob vehicles? I can't remember, but I'm interested in picking them up again, and I only ask because I've also seen versions of the van that have BA from the torso up in the driver seat, and I'm not sure who made that or if that was the van I had. I don't think it was, but it was 40 years ago... Thanks again.

Because of the reuse nature of the bodies, I aways thought of them as a version that was a sort of prequel to the series; like when they were serving in combat together.
