Analysing LittleBigPlanet 4 Rumours?

seeing MM's "New IP" line is quite discouraging, but just looking at this from a business perspective, it makes perfect sense to just make Little Big Planet 4, right? 1. It's a guaranteed commercial success, evident from how successful the previous games in the franchise are and the overall success of "build your own level" type games such as Mario Maker. 2. I have no way of confirming this but from my estimate of game sales, "Sackboy: A Big Adventure" wasn't nearly as successful as LBP3, meaning that what people want isn't just Sackboy, it's another LBP game. 3. With the server wipe that just happened the other day, that means that a new game could mean a fresh start! Sure, it'll be sad not to have access to the classics like "Bora Bora Island" and whatnot, but regardless, we could have a clean slate to make levels on. Doesn't it sound easier to program a game without having to port previous levels? 4. Little Big Planet is obviously targeted towards kids, I'd argue it's probably the best kid's game ever made, as when I was a kid, I only met other kids my age playing it. How many IPs does Sony have currently that are targeted towards kids? Ratchet and Clank? (I don't have a PS5 or a PS4, every ad I get for a Playstation game or list for best PS5 games are all rated T and above) This is a huge target audience that Sony is completely missing out on. Look at Nintendo, they completely dominate the market for kids games, making an LBP might give Sony a chance to compete! 5. The "LBP Community" is small, at least the active community is, but I think everybody who played it remembered it and would buy LBP4 if it came out. I've talked to friends about LBP just randomly sometimes and all of them said they either loved it when they were younger or always wanted to play it but never got to. I don't know a single person who didn't enjoy LBP, that's pretty impressive for a game to do! I fail to find a reason for why they shouldn't make a new LBP game. I'm a college student now and I haven't seriously played a video game in years, but if a new LBP game came out, I'd buy it in an instant.

The old levels still exist in Sony's resource servers. The servers that forward those levels to games are just offline now. Maybe they'll rewrite those for LBP4 and give us access to the old levels with better security and stability?

Some who want the servers to be put back up aren't really getting the full picture. LBP3s Servers have been pretty busted since launch and despite the patches it still remains broken half of the time, I would like to see a new main entry made properly for the PS5, bring all the user generated levels back, make entirely fresh and new servers that don't break every 5 minutes, and then boom you'll have a perfect successor to LBP3.

That's true. Some years ago, I was trying to play it with my friend online, but it kept disconnecting over and over. We tried to play for over a week, but the servers just wouldn't let us join each other. It got to the point where we deleted the game.

It's not even Sumo fault that ruined LBP3. It's actually Sony fault that they're very unpatient for LBP3 to release. Sony rushed Sumo to get it finished at black friday and ended up like this. Media did the right thing to give it to Sumo, but really, next time that Sony shouldn't be unpatient.

Wishlist Restitched on Steam. The thing started life as a LBP fan game before Sony told them to stop. Luckily, the devs were able to keep the game going by turning it into its own thing. No idea when it will be out, and progress seems to be slow. Let’s hope it’s at least able to live up to what came before.

I somewhat find it weird that everyone thinks that Media Molecule is going to come back and work on LBP again, especially when you consider the fact that (as far as I'm aware) they haven't touched the series since LBP2, and there have been 4 games released in the IP since (excluding the mobile games). It's been over 13 years since Media Molecule has even touched the IP, and several different studios have had their turns. As a person who was bloody obsessed with LBP when I was a kid, I believe it's unlikely we'll get another game in the series. Maybe more spin-offs, but no LBP4. And if by some chance we did, I'm even less confident it'd come from Media Molecule.

Dreams’ production wrapped a whole year ago. There’s no way they’ve been developing a new game without a team and some art direction. On the contrary, LittleBigPlanet should be relatively easy for Media Molecule to make, since they just have to make a bunch of new levels and fix their decade-old server software. Therefore, there’s the slightest chance that development on LBP is already underway. They should’ve been doing something these past couple of years, right?

If they are making a LBP4 then my best guess would be that they would redo the 2005 engine fron scratch. That's the smart thing to do, Especially when SUMO had such a hard time with it on LBP3.

If a fourth game is made, I really hope they reference or at least mention the less popular elements like the LBP2 Move Pack and Vita. Since they referenced the first game in the second one, it would be great if they could do the same for these elements. These bits of LBP media don't deserve to be forgotten as if they never happened in the storyline at all. (Like seriously, the move pack is so awesome yet nobody ever mentions it 😿)

To be honest, with the Purple dualshock 5 controller added next to the LBP games on MM website, I think we can make some theory, either MM is trolling(unlikely but hey you never know), their making a new LBP games(not very likely but we can still hope) or they are remaking the old games for ps5, a sort of LBP hub for ps5, or it is just a coincidence, and the fact that the ressource server for LBP is still on make you think they may keep it online to transfer all existing level on a possibly future lbp game

I don’t think the resource servers still being up means anything. It’s not a refrigerator, the levels don’t wither away if you turn it off. The reason it’s still up could be very simple or there could be no reason at all. Nintendo Network is still up right now and so was Nintendo WFC, but neither of these services are coming back. They used indefinitely to specify an unlimited amount of time, not an unspecified amount. The servers were already down temporarily; they wouldn’t make this announcement if they were coming back. Of course it doesn’t rule out a new game, and it still doesn’t explain why they didn’t say permanently like last time, but I think people are reading into this too much. As obvious as it seems to make LBP4, I don’t think it’s happening, at least not by Media Molecule. There was a leaked document that confirmed Mm’s new project is a live service game, but a lot of the talented folks at Mm that made LBP have since left the company and I feel “new IP” really does mean new IP. SABA did alright and was probably way cheaper to make, so I wouldn’t be surprised if Sony is happy continuing to follow that path considering how poorly LBP3 was received. Keep showing your support for LBP though, I’d love to see even just a remaster someday :)

LBP 4 will probably be in development, Sackboy a big adventure was a test for MM, and what i mean by test is what people wanted. People dont want sackboy in a platformer, but he is the face of creation for playstation, and LBP 3 is still getting decent sales dispite main servers being down. if im correct LBP 3 is TEN YEARS OLD, and people still buy the game because of the story mode, this was also the same case with LBP 1 and 2, alot of people still bought them because of their story, LBP is the perfect mix for media molecules success. They just dont know it yet.

and especially due to similar games such as Roblox and Minecraft being so successful, it shows that LBP was way ahead of its time like Roblox. When sandbox games shot up in sales around the mid to late 2010s (which was the same time LBP 3 got millions upon millions of views on youtube which at the time was mindblowing, also shows the fact that MMs lack of support and communication about LBP drove them to shutting lbp 3 in the first place

If a L,BP4 does get confirmed the pure joy I will be having. The only concern I would say is that if LBP4 is gonna be a "fresh start" Should imagine all the people that got the dlc pack keep all that they purchased and maybe bring some old dlc packs back (I know the cause of some of them due to licenses) But it would greatly help the people who missed them out (I know I did) The short side of this comment is. "IF" lBP4 is happening, I am pre-order, doing everything in my power to get an early access and have the game if this is true.

Bro is inhaling a heavy amount of copium. MM is making a brand new IP. Meaning no LBP since it was their 1ST IP for over a decade. Sumo Digital is no longer with Playstation and stopped since 2017. They can't do anything with Sackboy since it's Playstation's legal owned IP franchise. If the Playstation corporation does seems to have a 2nd chance of bringing back our beloved sackboy then maybe just maybe we will get LBP4 or something LittleBigPlanet.
