I'm with you on rides such as Grand National and Steeplechase. Should be counted as 1. Even if you consider them to be 2 and 3 coasters respectively (tbh I don't go with that logic) you aren't riding them all at once, therefore your count should always go up in increments of 1. @5:24 you mention my home town and you pronounced it correctly! :)

I do use Coaster-Count, I find it quite useful. I counted Grand National as 2, and Steeplechase as 3 because the rides are not identical. Ditto for rides that have been 100% retracted. New Hulk at Islands of Adventure rides completely differently that the original-they smoothed out the transitions it feels like. I do not count relocated rides as the track is exactly the same. I’m at 356. 100 was Behemoth at Canada’s Wonderland, 200 was Swarm at Thorpe Park, and 300 was Fury at Bobbejeanland.
@yourexperienceguide4 жыл бұрын
Fair enough, the reason I don’t use apps is because I don’t agree with how some of the coasters are listed. The Hulk is very debatable but I’ve only done it since the retrack.

I'm 21y now and my coastercount is currently at 863 (from 20 countries & 2 continents). I plan on scoring my 1000th credit in 2021, but I currently don't know where exactly that will be... I do count Steeplechase as three credits and Grand National as two, but how many rollercoasters like that have I done in total, almost none... So that won't make a big difference. A relocated rollercoaster does not count as an extra credit, when you already rode it when it was in the previous park(s). Thanks to the team of Coaster-Count I'm able to count and keep track of the travelling coasters on my list. Because of their hard work and literally "rollercoaster hunting", I'm 100% sure that no travelling credit is accidently counted twice.

My first coaster credit was Blue Streak at Cedar Point, in 1976. My first Arrow credit was Corkscrew, also Cedar Point, 1976. Here are my favorites per manufacturer: B&M - Dragon Challenge / Universal Islands of Adventure Arrow - Loch Ness Monster / Busch Gardens Williamsburg Intamin - (haven't ridden many of these) Disaster Transport aka Avalanche Run / Cedar Point Vekoma - Woody Woodpecker's Nuthouse Coaster / Universal Studios Florida (daughter's first coaster, so special spot in my heart for this one!) Schwarzkopf - Wildcat / Cedar Point. I count Gemini as two coasters, because there are two tracks, and two trains. Sure, they are parallel, mostly, but just given the fact that there are design variances on the curves makes them (slightly) different coasters. In casual conversation, I refer to Gemini as one ride. I suppose I would consider Grand National two credits for the same reason. Same thing with Dragon Challenge, where one is the mirror of the other.

The website I'm using is called "Captain Coaster", and I listed four (actually three) coasters that I have actually ridden. Why I'm using Captain Coaster is that when I was trying to use Coaster-Count, there is a stipulation that I have to come up with the exact date and time of when I rode these coasters (and I only remember the year, not the date) or else I get banned. In Captain Coaster, there are no rules that feel "authoritarian" unlike Coaster-Count. Also, is your favorite B&M "Nemesis"? "Banshee"? "Silver Star"? "Black Mamba"? "Montu"? Or anything else? (these coasters are located at Alton Towers, Kings Island, Europa-Park, Phantasialand, and Busch Gardens Tampa, respectively)

I don’t think counting credits is mad, i think it’s a good way to keep track of how many you’ve done. The only thing I’d like people to do is have 2 counts. One with and without the multiple same layout kiddie coasters like the big Apple/wacky worms and go gators. People just ride 300 of them and inflate their numbers to make it seem impressive. Also, Hyperion not being your 300th doesn’t make it any less of a great coaster. It doesn’t really matter if it’s 274 or 167, the coasters are what count not the specific order your rode them.
@yourexperienceguide4 жыл бұрын
Hyperion was superb, wish it had been a milestone because I really, really enjoyed it. The airtime was incredible.
@MCParradox4 жыл бұрын
I have a somewhat convoluted system but it works for me. I have a running count of "experiences", and for each one I mark it as either a credit or not a credit. A credit I define as a distinct, complete track. However, rethemes and relocations count as new experiences, but not new credits. So for example: Nash is 1 credit, as it is one continuous track, while Steeplechase is three credits (and I've only got one). The Incredible Hulk at IOA has two credits, one for the original track, and one for the 2016 retrack. Space Mountain Mission 2 and Hyperspace Mountain at Disneyland Paris are two experiences, but only one credit, as it is the same rollercoaster underneath. I mostly stick to your rules regarding travelling coasters and RCDB listings, but with a couple of exceptions where I feel they make sense. For instance, I have listed Olympia Looping as it is such a noteworthy ride, and I also have rides like Test Track and Escape from Gringotts listed as they feature coaster elements and hold the same level of prestige within their parks. All this taken into account, I currently have 108 experiences listed, and 102 distinct coaster credits.
@MCParradox4 жыл бұрын
A similar anecdote as well, I had planned for my 100th coaster to be the Big One, but it turns out I had made a mistake in my spreadsheet, so Big One was no. 101, and no. 100 was in fact... Blue Flyer!

I've enjoyed counting my credits ever since I got back into coasters a couple of years ago. Only on 55 at the moment, but that should change next year if the American trip goes ahead! I can't wait to see what my 100th credit will be. I count the Grand National as 2 credits, because of the 'getting off one side to get on the other side' thing. And it's funny, because I think one of the sides is my 50th credit! I didn't know it at the time, because I've since remembered other coasters I rode before it. Also I'm not very good at remembering the order I did things in. Favourite Vekoma: Rockin' Roller Coaster at Walt Disney Studios Paris. Favourite Mack: Icon Favourite B&M: Nemesis Favourite Intamin: Stealth Favourite Arrow: Vortex at Canada's Wonderland

I have vivid memories though like going on the missile at American Adventure and an Ultra Twister at a Six Flags park in Texas.
