Hi, I just wanted to add my view on the question: "are Tybalt's actions justified'. I would argue his actions are grounded with reason to an extent. Living in Elizabethan society meant that social norms that were present then enabled men to have more physical freedoms than they do now. Therefore, Romeo attending the Capulet ball, aware of the ancient grudge between the families, caused Tybalt to be agitated and propelled to fight Romeo with the intention of defending his family honour, which was the expectation of men in contemporary society. In this way, Romeo's attendance at the ball could be seen as provocative and insulting to Tybalt, who outwardly expressed his strong values for his family honour and would engage in physical fights to defend it. Tybalt further accentuates his image of being loyal to his family by formally challenging Romeo to a duel, which would be seen as brave act by a Shakespearean audience and shows how highly he regards his family. Moreover, we see Tybalt's family members, such as Juliet, the Nurse and Lady Capulet refer to Tybalt in endearing ways upon hearing of his death, which intimates that behind his violent and aggressive countenance, he was a loving family member who had become a victim to the feud and was subjected to the pressures of societal expectations on men, which heavily influenced their fixation on needing to prove their masculinity and defend family honour. I just wanted to add how fun this was to write :) Honestly, I would never actually argue this but could you please check the quality of my writing? I'm in year 11 and really need to improve my analysis skills

I love Tybalt. His usually masculine bearded look and the tranditional 15th century costume with tights in various play is the idealest combination for my dream man.

So I am researching this character because I have been assigned this role. From my perspective, he is not justified yet. However, from his perspective it is. I am choosing to find redeeming qualities in him. As I dig deeper into the research, I believe I’ll find it.

Hello! I'm afraid not - I always think that making predictions is a dangerous game: I wouldn't want to say that a certain thing is / is not coming up and then negatively impact your revision when the opposite happens!!
