HIMARS and 155 shells are expensive but much stuff US is sending was written down years ago. e.g. they stopped using Stinger missiles 20 years ago. They’ve also bought a fair bit of Soviet/Russian hardware that Ukraine are trained to use but that won’t have cost silly money.

Attacks at night In choppy waves would seem to me to be more difficult to spot and much more difficult to intercept. There should also be dummy drones to add deception. Additionally I would think some kind of camouflage against night optics would also be effective. If we expect an immanent play for launching a new wave of guided missile attacks tomorrow, there will probably be a great opportunity

MH17 kangaroo court was a joke. No evidence and all the contradicting evidence was simply dismissed and never properly addressed (like the fact that the missile was Ukrainian, not seen in Russia since the 1980's and according to serial number was last sent to Ukraine). Defense could not even cross-examine or even interview the prosecutors witnesses (witnessess who were largerly just people kidnapped and tortured by the SBU who had nothing to do with the case). Not to mention that there was no motive and it was Kiev that redirected MH17 over a war zone in the first place (from its original course). This madness will stop when Russia will kick out NATO forces from Donbas and create 40-80km safe zone.

Clearly they missed the point that Ukraine 24 had been fundraising for a fleet of 100 of these USVs; and that the cost in "addition to the drone itself, which is equipped with autopilot features, video subsystems (including night vision), backup communication modules and combat functionality, this also includes the cost of a ground-based, autonomous control station, transportation and storage system, as well as a data processing center" is $250,000 each.

These are initial versions of what may well be a model for such craft. A submersible or semi-submersible version would have an even lower profile and be more difficult to strike. If anti-helicopter systems were created this is potentially a new generation of stealthy strike means that spare the operator from physical presence To claim that it should be measured in terms of actual "KILLS" is nothing but semantics and word chopping! I would be embarrassed to have stated such a thing, because this IS a game changer, it has never been done like that before - but get ready to see it a lot PS: And all it takes is a cloud of fragments to chop helicopter rotors

The drug cartels have shown its a small step from a shallow freeboard boat to one that runs with just a periscope and snorkel poking out.The next stage will be a boat that carries enough compressed air to run the engine long enough to dive underneath the target ship. 200kg of military explosive under the ship hull will do a huge amount of damage.

I envisage the most important develpment in radio-controlled explosive boats will be the ability to go to a specific position, where it submerges, and is brought to life as and when a suitable target is nearby. This would mean they would be almost undetectable, and if brought to life VERY close to the target, the response time would be greatly reduced.

The winter is showing her cards in late November. Temperatures outside are at freezing 🥶. The wind chill factor being even colder. The hazard is a major storm out of Mongolia dropping temps by about 20 degrees in winters there. In 3 weeks Winter will officially be the news as the ground freezes reliably. The short distances involved and smaller numbers of units in these battles... Make the winter travel conditions less decisive for the defenders. With good internal defensive lines. Good depth along the entire line. Requiring an occupation force to remain across 800 miles. The new firepower has made a real difference in battle since August 2022. Drones prevent a battle of the bulge ⛅ ❄. Dec. '44.

The fact the drones can force the Russians to concentrate their Naval Forces and put thousands of hours on their helicopters in defensive flying instead of fulfilling their intended missions is a victory itself. For centuries we thought in land warfare we needed a kill shot, but a disabling shot might actually tie up mor resources, ships and dockyards than a kill shot, especially now that the Russians have limited facilities for repairs and resources are blocked from entering the Sea by Turkey.

Rockets are very expensive compared to these drones. The most serious improvement would be an electric homebrew torpedoes. Li-ion, electric engines, gyroscopes - all of this is dirty cheap now, wire guided torpedoes can be so much more efficient. The simplest improvement is using sinking bomb as warhead - deep detonation is so much more efficient, ideally warhead should be detonated under keel. These drones should work in semi-submersible mode, only snorkel, camera and antenna (flat) should be above water, as one stealh element. This would eliminate wake and wave drug.

I agree with the last point. If the EU had acted when Orcland murdered EU citizens in MH17, maybe we wouldn't be having another continent-wide war now. Because Orcland's current aggression is affecting the whole European continent. There will probably be more localised wars in Europe to come, since the collective democratic countries are showing that they won't fight back. Ukraine are the only ones fighting. Expect Serbia and/or Turkey to start attacking their neighbours next, since they see that there are few negative consequences of doing so.

For ground or water to freeze sufficiently substantially, it REQUIRES that temps tend to be CONSISTENTLY below 20F, -5C. For such heavy vehicles what farmers call a "hard" freeze, -15C. The speakers here are English, and it may be that they have never experienced sufficient freeze temps to allow vehicle over soil to move. Of course, following only a SINGLE hard freeze, vastly increased joules of energy to UNfreeze will keep the ground hard, cold, stable. And Dr. Jack Watling & Nick Reynolds' RUSI assessments should be everyone's go-to to understand Ukraine war events. NOT such blurb as twitter, now controlled by a "useful [Russian] idiot", libertarian Musk, who, as is USUAL with engineers (I have known Caltech engineers with Elephantine Hubris spouting complete Scrambled Inanity when stepping outside of their computational analytic envelopes to approach even computational issue) believes his own phantasmagorical constructs. (he caused some significant disruption in Ukraine when deciding he was plenipotentiary peace diplomat, AND when responding to criticism with nauseating narcissism, including his recent price-gouging for Starlink). Do not ingest twitter - it rots the brain. Sasha 3%, Lukashenka's epithet or "call-sign" among Belarusians, despite all his astonishing agility, visibly became powerless, as Russia dropped in mobiks and conscripts, first to be trained, now to stay, along with the removal of Belarus ammunition and armor. The poisoning of his FM is both a signal, and preparation for Kremlin strategy. The courageous, if existential, Polish weaponry emplacement, rhetoric, support, and some mobilization, was excellent response to the obvious Kremlin Monkeypoxing advance toward former Soviet slug trails, and your daughters. Normally experiencing Russian-poisoned "information management" parroted by MOST major media, from NYT to Reuters, to the truly biased India and China news sources, I find this Telegraph podcast to be surprisingly insightful.

Keep in mind there is ample gas resources in many EU nations but they don't develop them IE the fracking ban in the UK. The gas shale deposits in Poland etc... so people are dying in part because of political choices made by European politicians not just russia refusing to supply. Secondly your remarkably one sided in your view on the Ukranian war eurocentric would be an accurate term. Ukraine's troop were surrounded in 2014 the Minsk agreement was capitulation because of military defeat an agreement they never honored. Crimea in my travels from America in 2010 was staunchly pro-russian by 70% of the population thats why there was little armed resistance. Your talking about reconquering people that are at most lukewarm on rejoining Ukraine they would be happy to be part of Russia and get water from the crimean canal. Their problems with Kiev involved theft of large amounts of taxes paid to Kiev who took the money pocketed it and did nothing for the people. Zelensky's friends and political supporters have appropriated private property from foreign corporations and foreign nationals to support them in conquering Crimea is insane and would almost certainly invite a nuclear first strike preceded by use of chemical weapons. Russia while at fault was baited into attacking by western Ukranians. This is why many administrations were lukewarm on supplying weapons. I am pro-ukranian volunteered for the international legion but am irritated by your lack of balance on certain topics about the war. Slava Ukraine
