Other people's opinions should never dictate your own. It's a big reason why I don't have a score system in my videos. These videos are intended to have some analysis on games and not be a review. It's just me spewing my expereince to the internet. Reviews are subjective, not factual, and people really need to stop taking reviewers word. I get if you don't want to buy a game because of bad reviews but that literally means your opinion on said game is invalid since you didn't play it.

@@Jarekthegamingdragon Agreed, i think i saw something similar with the movie Speed Racer, where a bunch of critics trashed for being "too cartoonish" (even though the movie is from a 80s-90s anime), and gave the people, who didnt saw it, some bitter taste for the movie and it performed badly. I can't say much because sadly i kinda do this type of stuff, most recently with the TLOU Part 2 stuff that was happening, but its wrong from my part to criticise the game purely based on what other say, so i dont say anything because i didnt research it, nor do i have the initial interest anyway. The game gave their reasoning for gun conversions being that they are Resistance-only custom made weapons. In the lore as well, the guns the American armed forces had in that universe were much more advanced but were almost all manufactured by the Koreans, same goes for most of their tech and military vehicles. When the kill switch was used, that means almost all the armed forces in the US had nothing to use to fight back. Which is where I think the Resistance comes in and scrounges up the old guns that weren't linked to the KPA. Due to how it was risky and tedious trying to find more fully assembled old weapons, they opted to customize the guns to be more versatile and reduce the time to make a complete weapon. Still doesn't make much sense in the long run, but hey, at least they gave a reason.

We are talking about the initial prospect of the US being invaded in the first place, with the US being 81 times larger than said country (North Korea) in land mass alone, the US outnumbers the ENTIRE North Korean population 10 to 1, with said enemy government that can't even feed its own people, yet somehow makes the most globally successful arms and weapons manufacturing business in the world... With a backdoor program to knock out entire militaries, down to a basic ballistic rifle... When Taiwan is the #1 global semi-conductor and computerized systems producer in the WORLD (hence why China eyes the country so lustfully. Notwithstanding the Reunification Ideology likened to that of North Korea with South Korea). Of course, if the premise was China (had THQ and other platforms not cowed to China's demands), it would've made more sense for the story, logic and procession of lore. China is a powerhouse economy that's starting to outperform the US's own economy in the last few years. (as of 2022, especially Potato Biden selling 1M Dollars in oil to them, with concerns of his son having investments there to make money from it) It would make plenty sense to have China as the prime aggressor and occupier because they have the manpower, the population distribution, and, if they knocked out the US as a powerful enemy in the same manner as North Korea in the game, they could effectively capitulate many nations that, essentially, held their resistance to China due to the confidence of US backing and support. And I say that with confidence, because Taiwan is now starting a civilian militia. The first of its kind in a LONG time. Precisely because there's dwindling confidence in US backing and support. They're concerned America is in a position that may not intervene should China decide to get froggy. The entire fantastical idea is that, somehow, the US gets invaded despite the overwhelming amount of logistical, terrain, and military hurdles even the most competitive militaries (like Russia and China) would need to overcome with excruciating detail and very immense planning. Essentially, the whole story doesn't make any sense because Korea somehow manages to invade AND WIN against the US. The game has to ignore that major firearms production companies still reside in the US and Europe, outside of Korean/Chinese influence or power. And that while the US Military may be buying foreign product for its armed forces (which may be the case for a nation like India, is not the case for the US and its multiple Fortune 500 Military Industrial Complex corporations that produce civilian goods AND military hardware/software), its still self-sufficient, outside of foreign control with no "Super Secret" backdoor program. But its not the US Military that any invader needs to be concerned about. Russia's learning this with Ukraine. We learned this with Vietnam, Afghanistan and Iraq. Britain learned this with many of its colonies. Essentially, the civilian population, especially if its well armed, becomes a threat in and of itself. America has the highest proportion of Armed Citizens to firearms IN THE WORLD. We own 49.6% of all REGISTERED firearms in the world. Yeah, great, you capitulated the US Government and the Department of Defense. Now you have to contend with 90M+ Americans (that's just under 1/3rd of the American population) who are armed. And they don't have to follow the Geneva Conventions, nor fight fair. Just like all the other insurgencies throughout history. This game predicates on an entirely separate and uniquely different United States and North Korea, and a completely different Geopolitical reality to our own. An alternate universe.

Thanks for giving HTR some love! Game was a nightmare at launch, but the devs never gave up. They were highly active on the forums taking in feedback 24/7. Pretty sure Craig, their community manager, didn't sleep for months. They even released an HDR update for PS4 Pro and Xbox One X, and Digital Foundry rated it as a top 10 best looking game on them. After what they went through and following its development and post launch support so closely, it was awesome seeing the devs get some praise. Earned a sub! I ironically loved the first game and this one. Campaign, while not making much sense, had its moments. What really made the first one for me was its multiplayer. Was like a perfect mix of CoD and Battlefield for me. Even read the book, Voice of Freedom (pretty great as well). So I followed the development of Homefront 2 heavily. Seeing Crytek takeover got me so hyped, but then it was bad news after bad news until we finally got its reveal trailer which sparked my hope again. Got to E3 and saw some gameplay which got me hyped. Then the run of bad news started again with Crytek going bankrupt, development halting, CUK and the title being sold to Deep Silver, no news for months, and another delay, etc. I spent a lot of time on the forums talking with devs, and one mentioned to me that they lost over a third of their team during the grievances and in the transition to Dambuster. Then news broke that it was being delayed again by a year. Release date had been pushed from early 2015 to mid 2016 after all the delays. Game came out right as I finished highschool, and I played the love out of it. Fought through its poor performance and bugs on Xbox because the gameplay and weapon conversions were so damn fun. Didn't care at all if the conversions didn't make any sense. They have two most important things in game design: cool factor and fun factor. Loved their take on a KPA run Philadelphia. Each zone had a distinct style. Characters were surprisingly deep as well. Beet it on the maximum difficulty, and it fixed a lot of the poor AI moments, but the derp AI still had its moments. Characters get a little deeper as well in the DLC. Definitely worth playing, especially the last. First one leads up to the game. Second one ties off loose ends. Last one gives a fitting ending that the base game didn't quite get. Sadly due to the delays, they also had to cut the coop content in half as well. Was supposed to launch with 12 missions with 12 extra planned as free DLC but that got cut to the original 12 being split at launch and as DLC. Coop mode took me by surprise. Missions are straight forward, but the amount of character customization for it is fun. Wanna run around as a lightweight sprinter and reenact your MW2 Commando Pro days? You can do that. Wanna gear up and be a one man bullet hose machine? You can do that. Wanna be a ninja and stealth your away around enemies? You can do that. The perk system was surprisingly deep, and you could combine it with your character's gear to maximize or mix play styles. Going back to that, they listened closely to the community as well regarding microtransactions. Initially, you were going to be able to purchase the crates with real money or by grinding in game. The mode is PvE so it didn't bother me much, but people complained about it following the beta so Dambuster removed the ability to purchase them and simply replaced the MTX system with a few starter packs (which were also added on to the special edition versions of the game). Pretty sure they ran Resistance Mode at a loss to make up for the initial missing content and poor launch. Apparently there was also a third hidden mode that was possibly scrapped. I remember at the 2014 E3 demo, one of the devs hinted that his favorite mode hadn't been revealed yet, and that the others would kill him for spoiling it. At that time, we had gotten campaign gameplay at E3, and coop was already announced. Possibly could have been a PvP or a survival mode. My guess is a PvP as the Homefront 2 leaks leading up prior to HTR's reveal focused around MP, including gameplay showcasing a Domination like mode with HTR's pistol and Goliath on part of the map from the final DLC. No news ever came about from that mode, but with the absolute nightmare of a development, I assume it was scrapped. There's still some hope for a Homefront 3. THQ Nordic owns the Homefront title and Dambuster after Nordic bought Deep Silver. Didn't get any news for a few years until 2018 or 2019 when it was announced that Dambuster would be taking over development of Dead Island 2. That game has been a hell of its own, but Homefront: The Revolution had a brilliant an dynamic melee system. Loved kicking guards off of ledges and tackling enemies to the ground. I didn't even realize your could kick the KPA off of ledges until I played one of the coop missions. Walked up to assassinate him, and I just "THIS........IS.............SPARTA!!!!" him into a pit. So they can definitely do a melee focused zombie game right. But it seems like THQ Nordic may be sitting on Homefront right now. Not sure what Dambuster was doing for the two to three years leading up them taking over DI2 though.

Christ you're incredibly reasonable. I like how you acknowledge that the bugs and glitches existed at launch despite not having a lot of problems at its current state. I find that some people who play a game like Cyberpunk or Mass Effect Andromeda and (through some miracle) don't encounter many bugs completely ignore everyone else's experience with the game because they didn't have to struggle through it. You have earned a sub my man.

I just bought it & the season pass on sale for $6 & started playing it on my Series X and it’s so Amazing! I’d dare say one of the most underrated Open-World style games ever made IMO. I remember getting it when it first launched yrs ago and only played a handful and stopped bc of the issues, but now yrs later with the updates and DLC it’s something to behold. I loved the original game as well and the MP for it. Holding out hope that Dambuster Studios makes a sequel after Dead Island 2. 🤘

4:55 I play on a launch day PS4 and my copy had no major issues. There was a hilarious glitch where a KPA soldier I killed completely stretched out and turned into a weird mess of pixel spaghetti once as well as the usual minor hiccups like frame rate drops, clipping and a two second softlock after liberating an outpost but it never crashed on me once.

Here's a question; if the game is actually pretty good and fun now, does it not make it that much worse that it was so broken on launch? Like, it's not the players fault if a game launches and is broken, *then* becomes good later. If it could've been that good, why couldn't it have been released in that state to begin with? It almost doesn't matter if a game is fixed into becoming good later, not when first impressions were already so negative and folks have moved on. I don't like using the 'oh I wish people would give it a chance now it's actually really good' as a defence, as its not the players fault they didn't like the game they bought on launch. It just makes the game more frustrating, tbh. That's just a thought I had watching this. Great video, and nice Blazers cap, by the way :)

I think it comes to problematic development cycle and deadlines. You know that game development takes time, and since the publishers didn't want people to forget about this game, they just have to release it as is. I think it's the same as other games with buggy releases.
@iriotales4 жыл бұрын
You actually make an interesting point. While I agree that "it's good now" should never be used to wash away a bad launch from a company such as... Let's say, Bethesda, I do think that whenever we are dealing with a game from someone that put a lot of love and dedication, I believe that the benefit of doubt is worth it. After all, at the end of the day, a game being "fixed" means another great game out there in the wild. Anyway, have a pleasant day buddy!

I never said it was the players' fault. I even said it deserved the review scores for the awful launch but it certainly wasn't the dev's fault either in this case.

Played Homefront: TR three times, and never found Timesplitters levels. RE: characters. Sam Burnett is really will animated. Good luck with the expansions. I found all three played very well, until the last fight where it got difficult in all three. EDIT: forgot to mention H:TR is also CPU intensive in places too, so it might not always be your 980 Ti. (If you run MSI Afterburner (not for overclocking), it will monitor and OSD resource loads. Takes a bit of setting up, like you have to click what you want OSD to display. Although you probably already know about it.)

@@Jarekthegamingdragon With reference to games like H:TR, good games that didn't review well. I really liked Sniper Ghost Warrior 3. .. It is a game that gets either hate or total praise, with no apparent middle ground. (Great guns and great graphics too.) SGW3 can feel a little lonely as there are no other vehicles travelling the roads. There is a time of day bug, where if you die you end up at midnight. However you can sleep to change time. The last bug I had was tools needed re-equipping. Like F to throw grenades or use silencer repair tool. The bug would mean you press F and nothing happens until you re-equip it. There is a multiplayer bug where you lose MP progress if you play a bit of single player. However I never touched MP myself. I got totally into SGW3. I also played the two previous games many times and loved those. SGW3 going open world worried me, since I was used to the linear previous games. SGW3 stunned me though, and the open world worked brilliantly. The tension when taking out facilities and not wanting to die so you didn't have to restart, was immersive. Not sure SGW3 would be a game to stream though. People might think it's not a good game, and not join you. Up to you. Just giving you my genuine impression. …. (EDIT: If you buy it, get the Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 Season Pass Edition. That's for the All Terrain Vehicle, and the TAC33-A rifle to start. Cheap keys on Ebay.)

Games made purely for the money will either crash and burn, or make loads of money. But a game made from passion will always succeed in some capacity. When a studio is in a bind, there's one two things that can save them: luck or a passion project. As soon as money becomes your end, and not a means to an end, you've lost the plot.

A friend of mine found about this on PS4 and recommended it. It sounded awesome for a more stealth-focused shooter. I love exploring the yellow district and messing with the North Korean soldiers and tanks, and going to war in the red districts. Only thing I really despise is that, like every other Deep Silver-published title, sometimes enemy AI just show up out of nowhere, right as you turn around. It sounds okay in theory, adding extra challenge to keep you on your toes, but it becomes infuriating when you're already being overrun trying to complete objectives in a red district. Just a firsthand example.

I think the idea of Homefront is great. A Red Dawn situation. The original Homefront looked good enough and was very linear. The weapons were fun. And takes you too much by the hand. The second Homefront, The Revolution is open world, beautiful and has great atmosphere. Yes the AI is a little dense. But when they're on you're case, they come hard. And when they swarm you, you can die fast if you don't know what you're doing. I learned to love to use the RC cars with fire and explosives. Two years ago I played this game over half through than left it. In the last weeks I picked it up again and am playing it the fourth time through now. So fun. I even downloaded the DLCs.

The biggest weakness with HFTR from a design perspective is the way NPCs spawn and despawn. It is a fundamental problem, and one the devs were never able to fix. There's not enough persistence. You see an APC driving down the road. Run around the block, and it's gone. NPCs spawn in front of you at times. Then despawn in the middle of a chase. It's one of those "Once you see it, you can't unsee it" things. There's a sense of instability to the world. It doesn't feel solid because stuff is appearing and disappearing all the time. However, despite this, there is a lot to like about HFTR. The atmosphere is on point. (The rain effects are best in class, frankly.) The world is interesting to explore, with fun challenges to get inside buildings to take them over. And a lot of its design ideas turned up in games like Far Cry 5. What's most odd about HFTR is that it's a Crytek game. It is the missing game between Crysis 3 and Hunt. People wanted a sandbox singleplayer FPS from Crytek. This is that game, issues and all. I feel like it's a good, uneven game that could be a truly GREAT game if the studio went back and reworked it. Fixed the tech issues. Restored the cut content from the story. (There's a pretty major plotline point involving the doctor that was removed.) On the plus side, we did get DLC wrapping up the story as best they could.

One thing you should know. the DLCs are much less open then the main game. That was my big problem with the last DLC. The description I read made me think it would be more open then the previous ones but it wasn't. I pre-ordered this for the PS4 as a birthday present for myself and honestly never had huge bug issues with it other then the massive framerate drops while autosaving that happened in the early days. The one time I thought I had hit a crippling bug turned out to an error on my part. I knew where I needed to go, got an idea on how to get there and was so sure I was right that when my idea failed I kept trying over and over for the rest of my time playing that day. If I had looked around properly I would have found a switch which would have let me reach my destination with ease. I got this figuring it would be the closest thing we would get to a Freedom Fighters 2 for a while. (Unfortunately I was right since it has been four years and there's no sign of whoever owns the Freedom fighters IP ceasing their laziness and making a sequel,) And I got what I expected pretty much.

Hey man! Love your videos but I really feel like you could do something more with your lighting setup. By counting the shadows I'm assuming you're using two lights. And by the hard shadows I'm assuming they're just regular light bulbs without any frames. I'm also assuming you have your lights so low because you don't want shadows from your cap to block your face. But having your lights so low instead casts shadows up from your nose which is known as "monster lighting" because it was often used in classic horror movies to make the monster look scary. It's not a very attractive look. If raising your lights isn't an easy option or if you don't want to loose the cap, you should at least try to filter the light somehow. Maybe bounce it on a sheet och put some frosted plastic in front. This would create less harsh shadows and a more pleasing look. I would also suggest to block some of the light from hitting your background. As it is now, the wall is more lit that your face. So try blocking out the background to make you pop more in the frame. Just put a box or something in front of the light. Just some constructive criticism. A little goes a long way here and since your channel is growing it might be a worthwhile investment Keep it up!

I will say it's one of those kind of sandbox shooters that's not totally bad. But not completely good either. Yes, it can be kinda bad with the AI, unlike FEAR which shows that developers cared about their games combat system at least back then, but that doesn't mean it's a bad game. And the guns are crazy because the game's plot made it so the american resistance is using various weapon parts, both stock and handmade, since the KPA weapons had biometric security devices installed so that they couldn't be used against them. Still, it's an okay game since most bugs were patched eventually. And the DLC was also coo, but it makes wish we got a proper sequel and not just another cliffhanger.
