Spamton was probably the most creative antagonist Toby Fox made in Deltarune, he spoke almost exactly the same as he does here, had a lot of humor and unnerving qualities, and even a dark and tragic side to him as well. Toby was almost worried that everyone would dismiss him or find his character annoying, but he quickly became everyone's favorite with all the art, animation, music, and fandubs that you can find! A couple comments: In Deltarune, your SOUL literally appears as a red heart and appears pretty frequently throughout the game. There might be some metaphors attached to it, but when Spamton/Stupendium is talking about taking your heart, he means it literally. Kromer is a fictional currency in Deltarune that's used exclusively by Spamton. The way it's treated implies it's a cryptocurrency. So the Kromer Key line is a pretty great pun. It's also implied that some of the more negative things Spamton says are actually him not-so-subtly projecting his own feelings onto you, like saying all your friends despise you or the sponge who hates its [$4.99] life.

in deltarune its implied that some of spamtons bracket text is his speech literally being censored by some outside force. its often played for horror or mystery, like when he tries to sell you [hyperlink blocked] but it can be played for humour as well. the reason why i bring this up is... well.. i really like the thought you put into analyzing the "little sponge who hates its [$4.99] life" line. but in the context of deltarune its clear that what spamtons actually trying to say is "who hates its fucking life" (spamton swears a lot in deltarune. or he would if he was able to, its always written as [$!%$].)

also, [[hyperlink blocked]] could mean anything, however it makes a huge amount of sence that it'd be *_freedom_* , as its spamton's main goal to become free from his strings, gain controll. plus he advertises to kris with [[hyperlink blocked]] a lot. and when the fight is over, kris either *_SCREAMS_* hes not ok, or very softly says that hes fine. so its clear to me [[hyperlink blocked]] could be freedom. what do you think though?

I restrained myself and watched the video before commenting on it. Here's a bit of context: In Deltarune, you travel through Dark Worlds that are a projection of a certain room. The Cyber World from where Spamton (char played by Stups) is a projection of a computer room, and Spamton is literally a personification of advertising. His communication style completely flowed into the song, as well as the key phrases.

Funny story, the line “if you want to make your Screen Green, you are gonna need my Kromer Key!” actually references a few things: 1. Screen green probably means you’re drowning in cash 2. Kromer is the currency Spamton uses in game 3. Key is also an important item in the game, where you go off on a quest for him. So this means, you can make your screen green using a chroma key, or you can be drowning in riches if you follow my quest

I think this was referencing the fact that you use the keygen/kromer key to engage in the Spamton NEO boss fight, in which he attempts to free himself from the game/enter reality/"break his strings" (as he calls it). The green screen is the reality behind the animation/effects.

It's fun watching someone who hasn't played Deltarune try and make sense of this! Deltarune is so hard to explain to the outside observer, and Spamton is one of its more complicated characters. He's basically a piece of add-ware that has become self aware, and now instead of trying to trick people into giving money to his creators, he's trying to trick people into selling him their soul/heart/light/life-force, whatever you want to call it, that part of you that makes you who you are so he can integrate it into his program as he desperately tries to become "real". Real physiological horror kind of stuff. Also, black olives and Pepsi.

Honestly Spamton is a super tragic character if you read between the lines of the story…constantly kicked around and failing to follow trends and thrive in the market he once grew to call his territory. What's worse is that he once wasn't as successful but was happy with friends, then he got a strange call from something, eventually with the help of this entity he got massively successful and rose in prominence and wealth, however the more he succeeded the more friends abandoned him, eventually at his peak the mysterious called no longer called him and he began to fail horribly, even losing the praise of Queen and getting evicted. Finally he would receive a call once again and run off resulting in his current state, one of his remaining friends went to check on him and found the phone hanging, he listened and only heard garbled noises.....

Who wants the power to make his own life without anyone controlling him or telling him what to do. He wants freedom, and the guy on the phone gave it to him. Until he stopped answering, we don’t exactly know what happened next but what every it was it left spamton a broken computer virus ridden mess still desperately looking for freedom form his strings and success as a sales man in a world where no one wants his stuff. In Deltarune, a big theory in the community is that the player, or an unseen entity meant to represent the player, has possessed the soul of Kris(the character you play as), and is robbing them of their free will throughout the chapters of the game. There's some way Kris himself can still assert his own will over the player's. Like how after the 2nd fight with Spamton one of your party members asks if you're okay, and depending on which answer you give. If you say "Yes" then Kris will say it through gritted teeth, alluding to him not wanting to say that. Meanwhile, if you pick "No" then Kris will actually yell it all of a sudden, meaning that he really wants to get the point across to his friends that are mostly oblivious to his inner struggle against the player, or whatever entity has a hold over him. Basically, Kris is like a puppet. This is interesting because not only does Spamton seem to know a lot about what Kris is going through(asking Kris in the 2nd fight against him "Do you wanna be a ❤️ on a chain your whole life?" along with other allusions), but Spamton is also a puppet. In the 2nd fight against him, the way to beat him non-lethally is to cut the strings he's hanging from, and while he believes Kris cutting the final string will give him the freedom he wants, all it does is make the new body he acquired fall to the floor like a puppet with it's strings cut; limp and useless.

My favourite is [[Half-Priced Salami]] with a cup of whatever fizzy drinks are available. Regarding a video though, I could talk for hours about Deltarune, about Spamton, about this song. But I just wanna focus on one thing and say that "Sponge who hates it's [[$4.99]]" is referring to the specific line of Spamton's dialogue in-game. There are many lines in this song that quote Spamtom pretty much directly, but here's this specific bit: * WHY BE THE [[Little Sponge]] WHO HATES ITS [[$4.99]] LIFE * WHEN YOU CAN BE A * [[BIG SHOT!!!]] * [[BIG SHOT!!!!]] * [[BIG SHOT!!!!!]] Stupes uses this line during the product sensory overload segment, where the next product starts with the last word of a previous one and it just chains endlessly: Bed bath? Bath sponge? Sponge who hates its [[$4.99]] life boat? Boat shoe? Shoestring? String bean? So, the phases "Sponge who hates it's [[$4.99]] life" and "Life boat?" concatenate into one broken sentence. Which is a pretty [[BIG SHOT]] move in my opinion.

there's a neat little detail of the game where Spamton in a normal playthrough will have a lot of "[[Hyperlink Blocked]]" in his sentences when relating to information that would be associated with the evil/corruption/snowgrave route, but in the evil/corruption/snowgrave route (where he plays a much bigger role as the final boss, which you can see him transforming into near the end), he doesn't have that happen, which is kind of like him getting "un-blocked" because of the actions of the player. furthermore, if you are doing the evil/corruption/snowgrave route, there's a locked door you can interact with that reveals that Spamton is using the player's violent actions (which he encourages during the route) to gain power and is doing paperwork, likely to get himself fully unblocked.

Chicken, green pepper, and pineapple if I’m feeling adventurous and the place knows how to do it right. I’d probably down it with some dr pepper zero. Spamton G Spamton is fascinating, a little walking talking personification of a spam bot that managed to capture the heart and pity of players overnight. The implied hell he went through as everything and everyone turned their back on him and sheer desperation to reclaim his dream of being a Big Shot is tear jerking, even in the context to the depths he’d sink to to get it back. He’s obviously connected to some of the borderline cosmic horror in the setting, and comes tantalizingly close to spilling some big secret time and again, but every time he gets close he has a sudden panic attack, acting erratically even by his standards and forcing the conversation back to his grift. Most unsettling is how much he knows about the player character, who he views as a kindred spirit verging on winding up just like him.

Dave, I don't know if you have ever listened to band 'Ad Infinitum' with lead singer Melissa Bonny. If you do, you may understand my confusion. Back to this video ... this is crazy, a reality satire that fits alarmingly well in our time. For the last question: dried tomatoes and red wine

Yeah, Spamton is a......... fascinating character to say the least. I actually have some videos I would recommend. First is the Shelter from the storm song from the stupendium, honestly you can choose any version you want, though I recommend the Animatic from Najsigt. The next are 2 from a creator called Hobo Hobo, both relating to Spamton, simply called, Spamton's shop - animated, and Spamton Neo - animated. You don't have to react to these ones on video, but I would like to hear your thoughts on them. The Last video I will bring up also has to do with Spamton, from relopro, called Spamton's backstory (DELTARUNE). Again, you can watch this on your own time, Just would like to hear your thoughts on it.

i'm late to watching this, but here's my feedback: judging as stupendium's songs, including this one, are specifically about certain characters or games, a listener would need to know about the game + character involved, in this case spamton from deltarune. nearly every single line in ad infinitum is a reference to spamton directly, even as specific as to how the tangent about cat products being how his armor item can relate to a character that resembles a cat. the bracket text is simply him being corrupted, his lines in the brackets are basically pieces of other advertisements he uses to speak, as hes broken. with all that being said... i appreciate the fact that you put in effort to research at least a good minimum of what deltarune is before listening to the song. some of these youtubers r going in like "i have no clue what this is🤣" and going straight in, which i find pointless. how are you going to enjoy all the references without knowing what theyre referencing? *edit, im halfway through and i love how youre analyzing the lines and dialogue despite not knowing spamton or what the dialogues reference. the way you mentioned the chorus jingle's "take your heart for free" being a business tactic for example. i love how different your perspectives can be because you dont have background knowledge on spamton, fascinating rlly. great video :D

speaking of, i fint it kinda funny how not a ton of people know about deltarune. it's made my the same dev of undertale, and we ALL have at least bare minimum knowledge on undertale right? sans was the biggest trend for YEARS. and deltarune is a sequel in the sense of a paralel universe to undertale, it was hyped up like crazy, yet somehow its less known. its kinda surprising to me

One fun little detail that doesn't take Deltarune or Music Man context is the "Moist, Delicious Cookies" bit early in the product listing verse. It starts with 'at this time, you searched for cat pictures!' and then immediately shows you cookies, which is actually in reference to web sites' cookies used to track your search and visit history. Being the embodiment of advertisement old and new, Spamton presenting a plate of delicious cookies while explicitly referencing your web data is a great touch.

I love your impromptu philosophizing about the ‘ad’ in Ad Infinutum... but it’s literally the Latin word for ‘to.’ Like Ad Astra Per Aspera, Ad Hoc, Ad Libitum, Ad Nauseum, Ad Hominem, Ad Absurdum, Ad Fundum, and many others

People have been hitting the general idea in the comments pretty hard so I'm gonna try and avoid that. However, I still like to think that I have some new insights anyway: Normally, I find Stupendium's songs really easy to listen to. Hell, I've memorized some of them to the point of being able to almost perfectly recite them (I'm no rapper by a long shot). This one hit me like a fucking truck, and I'm having trouble just following along, let alone catching all the references. That, I'd argue, was exactly what he was going for, as that was the general vibe I got from Spamton. He felt as if he was trying to rush you, which is exactly what ads try to do to prevent you from thinking too much about them. The title, Ad Infinitium, translates to "To Infinity" if my memory of Latin is precise. That not only matches Spamton, it also is a clever pun about ads. Not necessarily an important insight, but the video was also full of references to The Music Man. Lyrically and visually, I found at least four different references to "Ya Got Trouble" alone

9:35 Frankly, I think Stupes was going for both, automated text replacement AND audio inserts of radio ads. I know the text thing is how they do it in the original game, but since the game doesn't have voice acting, Stupes making the choice to translate that to the radio advert effect when rapping it makes perfect sense to me. Also, I like spinach on pizza, maybe with some ginger ale

that was a great reaction and you're right about the point about reactions to stupendium songs being long, there's just so many things and points he slips into the lyrics and songs it's almost impossible to not take a while to listen to the songs the first time around. keep up the great work and regarding that comment at the end, for me it's most propably a mix of ham, pineapple and pepperoni also fits well on a pizza, and the drink i'd have with it is depends on what's available i guess but i think i'd probably just pick either some coca cola or "egils malt" maybe, egils malt being something we have here in iceland

I’m sorry but I couldn’t handle the constant reading WAY too far into everything, it gives me ptsd from my deep frustration at my english teachers requiring I overanalyze a book and ignore the characters and ignore the story and find undertones that I don’t care about or might not even exist. That said, pizza with as much meat as possible, and a gallon jug of water. I made it to the end but it was very painful.

On a single topping pizza, it's hard to go wrong with classic pepperoni. But if there is more, gotta dress it it up a bit~ I might get exicuted for this but.. You need a barbeque sauce base, this will had a tangyness that is absolutely nessecery to control the sweetness of pineapple... Now here me out! Next you want to add bacon. Its salty, and much crispier them ham to add alot of texture to the pizza. Also, it wouldn't hurt to add some lightly sauteed onion on there for a more flavorful kick and also keep the pineapple from overpowering the pizza. And if course gotta have root beer with it.

The Stupendium makes some of the best songs! I've been playing this song for weeks and still haven't learned all the words. I'm sure I could if I paused it in the middle, but man I don't want to especially when he gets into one of those rhyme schemes! What's even more fun than watching his video? Watching reaction videos! Some people's brains just shutdown, lol it's so funny. BTW my favorite pizza topping is [classic] pepperoni. What makes it different from pepperoni? It's the type that curls up into those cup shapes. What It Do Dave, a basic rundown of the theme of the world is this, they're in a physical manifestation of the internet, the character that this song is about is called spamton, he's one of the pop-up salesmen, the brackets are the represent him using pop-up ads in his speech. Also when they refer to the listener's heart, they are being quite litteral in that they mean the listener's heart shaped soul because that's what the combat revolves around.
