He clearly doesn't understand why people will line up to buy Tesla Model 3 and not a Chevy Bolt. Saying Porsche is coming out and going to compete isn't true either without a charging network. Porsche can't compete for 50K or less for an EV ever. The 35K model 3 is coming by the way - end of this year. Tesla you can travel across the country when needed without much pain - what other EV can do that? EVs aren't going away and will start to take over massively by 2025. I will fully support Tesla over other manufacturers because if the other guys had their way they wouldn't be touching EVs and would say it's just not feasible. The truth is all about money, ICE cars sell double (if not more) since their lifespan is much lower, ICE cars require much, much more maintenance, generating a lot of money at dealerships. Not to mention the fuel for those ICE cars.

How many people drive across the country? The vast majority of travel is local so the charging network helps some, but it's not make or break, that's why the BAIC EC is the top selling electric. Tesla is advancing EV's, but the other manufacturers have been offering variations, and losing money like Tesla on them, so it's not as if they've been fighting against them. And other manufacturers would love to get rid of their dealer networks, Ford went to court to bypass dealers and lost. Anyone who's run a business knows it's most often harder to change an entrenched company than with a new start up.

Jog B Tesla is losing money overall but not per car, their margins are fine just need to output more model 3s, as Elon has said. Supercharger network is more necessary than you think. Yes, they shouldn't be needed much since people average like 60 miles a day, but those 3-5 times a year you go across the state or take a roadtrip vacation you need this system. Having to rent a car for this is much more expensive. Having another vehicle is even more expensive.

Ah Gordon. First, the competition will primarily enlarge EV sales. Have you read any comparitive reviews of the other cars? They are inferior in most ways. For instance, the M3 is superior on the track to the BMW 3-series at every price point, WITHOUT INCENTIVES. No other EV is competitive. All mediocre. Hopefully they'll improve, as Elon has stated many times. The enemy is ICE, the goal is to dramatically lower emissions worldwide.
