I don't have demographic data in my interviews because I already asked from respondnets in the questionnaire. Will it not affect my results in NVIVO? Can I directly import from questions (Q1, Q2, Q3....) by skipping demographic information?

sorry doctor, is there any other option of analysing interview apart from thematic analysis? is it acceptable to analyse the results of interview manually just by summarizing the responses of the participants?

No worries! Yes, there are other options, like content analysis or narrative analysis. Summarizing responses manually is acceptable, especially in smaller studies-but keep in mind that it limits your ability to visualize data and may make it harder to identify deeper patterns.

how do i assign codes to participants in a focus group interview where i dont have individual files for each of the participants?

We typically assign codes to participants (cases) when we want to compare data... for example, to analyze how much data has been coded to a specific code or theme for each participant. This is particularly helpful when we are considering attributing variables, as it allows us to explore patterns. For instance, we can compare how different demographic groups (e.g., gender - male, female, or other) contribute to various themes we have identified in the data. When it comes to extracting cases from focus group interviews or any other qualitative data, one effective method is autocoding by 'speaker name'. This approach allows us to assign codes systematically, ensuring that each speaker’s contributions are treated as a distinct case for analysis. I hope this clarifies your query. That’s an excellent question. If you’ve saved your case classifications in a (SPSS or Excel) sheet, you can directly import it, and it will automatically be associated with the corresponding cases (as long as the names match). I suggest exploring the 'Import' ribbon tab and then navigating to the 'Classifications' section.

Currently doing a Qualitative Data Analysis, but I stop at auto-coding because it shows "insufficient or no coding," even if I made lots codes already. Please advise

The "insufficient or no coding" message is an error that only appears when using the last auto-coding function in NVivo (when you have not done enough coding beforehand). It doesn’t affect the other four auto-coding options, so you should be able to proceed without issues when using those. Try using a different auto-coding option, and let me know if you need further assistance!

If I have 6 questions in my qualitative questionnaire and 30 participants replied those open ended questions. As I understood In NViVO we have to to create codes and themes separately for each question's responses (responses by 30 individuals) one by one. Or can we create codes for all the descriptive answers of 6 questions (responses by 30 individuals) at once. Please clarify.

You can proceed either way. You can code all your data into themes or codes. Later, during the analysis stage, we can identify which themes correspond to specific questions. This approach eliminates the need to organize the data separately upfront. That said, if you are asking completely different things in each question, you should go with question wise coding to distinct codes/themes.
