Absolutely!, I only use my own flies (or sometimes flies a friend made) I don't trust the hooks on store bought flies. Thanks^^

@@gillenjesse compared to all the pro fly tiers here on youtube i woudn't compete much. But I have thought to make a super quick tie instruction in a small window within an existing video. might try someting like that in the future :)

This is the best dry fly hookset analysis I've ever seen. Good job! David from Atlanta, Georgia.

Thanks, it's pretty much overthinking, but definitely fish feel that a mayflie fly with a stiff foam body isn't a real fly, they are much softer. Almost like we bite into a plastic pear

Love the sound design and attention to detail! Love how you detailed the learned process, super cool!

Thanks, sound design is fun to do, but can either distract or enhance the shot so I'm glad it's enhancing in this case^^ And, Wow, you're able to keep posting a video a week, that's amazing 😎👍

Your tippet looks like it’s landing in a pile? Do your build or use a tapered leader? That could be the cause of your missing the hook set? Doesn’t look like it’s turning over all that well to me but I could be wrong! Love your content it’s great 👌👌
@outdooroskar12573 жыл бұрын
Thanks, I like your attention in this! In some occasions I intentionally make it pile a bit to avoid catching drag from small currents from rocks between me and the fish. And that's a problem I cause myself because I actually, most of the time, don't sneak up as close as I should to make a accurate short cast. But that's on purpose, I want to be on the very edge of what I can cast because the footage looks cooler when there's more fly line on the surface to be pulled up when i sett the hook💦😁. However then it's sometimes hard for me to get the fly to turn over properly, and that does slow down hookset time. The rod I use is just 6'6" #2 and I've paired that with a 10ft tapered leader to a 1mm tippet ring + 2' of 5x tippet. This is a long, great leader for not spooking fish easily. However the slightest wind and I'll pile the leader more than I want it to because of the short rod, my poor casting skills, and long leader. I should have mentioned that I sometimes on purpose don't go as close as I should to make the cast because that is probably one of the roots of my not hooking up problem. Thanks fellow camp fishing enthusiast✌

The drag caused by the dry fly stops the tippet from extending fully so building the tapered leader will transfer the energy from the cause & should extend the tippet a bit straighter/tighter resulting in faster setting of the hook as there’s no slack to make up as you try set the hook? Love to see if you make any progress
@outdooroskar12573 жыл бұрын
It seems like I've answered a similar question bellow, but comments are great for the algorithm so thanks for the comments👍 I use a quite short rod 6'6" and I use a 10ft tapered leader to a 1mm tippet ring to 2' of 4-5X (Nylon or fluor) depending on the fly and lighting conditions.
@jasonpayne8960 Жыл бұрын
It's a double edged sword, because with zero slack it's very difficult to get a drag free drift and impossible to mend without affecting the fly's drift.

Thanks for the appreciation^^ next might be something topwater again, not sure yet. It's probably not going to be mackerel on the fly. Currently fishing mackerel but they never got close enough for me to try on the fly. Maybe tomorrow 🏕️. Otherwise it could be pike, perch brown or even sea trout on the dry! Every thing is possible now :D

😁. Har en fyra också men de var så sjukt lättskrämda förra året när jag körde en femma 😆 Keep up The Good work 💯🙏
@outdooroskar12572 жыл бұрын
Tight lines 👊
