The Lagway/AR comparison really doesn’t hold water if you ask me. Lagway is a much better quarterback for Florida. I think we need to try to establish the running game but not force it if it’s shut down. Get the tight ends involved more and throw the long balls. Make Georgia stop the long balls. We have talented receivers. Go Gators

We have to rethink what we are calling the "tough" throws for DJ. He is going to have a harder time reading defenses underneath than he is going to have recognizing 1 on 1 and trusting his arm strength. These deeper throws are easier for him. Keep it easy

Of their next 4 games, Georgia, Texas, LSU, and Ole Miss, which one would you feel most comfortable putting money on the Gators winning? I'm not asking for betting advice. I just mean which one do they have the best chance to upset? Hard to pick one, right? Dave has said all week that a win over Kentuky is great. The team _has_ gotten better. But that doesn't mean more wins are comming. The team has gotten better but they are starting from their lowest point in living memory. So, getting better from that point means they can still be pretty bad compared to the rest of the SEC. Lagway is great and he's going to get better. But I am afraid another end of the season losing streak is coming.

LSU’s defense looks suspect to qb’s who can both throw and run.

Our wins are vs 3-4 Samford (FCS), 3-5 Kentucky, 3-5 UCF, and 1-7 Mississippi State. We have 0 wins vs a team above .500 in our last 16 games. We have 2 wins vs teams that are above .500 in Billy Napier’s 32 games at UF

Done people act like beating a bad Kentucky team is like winning a natty. Like it makes up for his 3.5 years of incompetence

The wins we have we’ve shown improvement in a lot of areas. We wouldn’t have put up 40 plus points with Mertz, I like the kid. Our defensive has really improved on assignments. There are a lot of positives here. Coaches cost us the Tennessee game. Don’t be that cunty Gator fan we are looking better. Focus on that

The question is can he throw short passes? Can he do the dinks and dunks? Can Lagway operate the quick game, because if he can he would be deadly! We need to know if D.J can operate the quick game.

Need to let gates take over the Star position and move Denson back to safety with Bridges until Castell shows us that he properly knows how to break on the passes that they target him! He always seems to be late getting to the WR and never ever goes for the interception the few times he’s had the opportunities! He’s not aggressive enough to play the safety position, IMO

Agree 100%. I've said the same thing before. And to add to that, castell is scary too. He doesn't want to tackle anybody. He'll get out of a runners way quick. He doesn't mind dogpiling but by himself, forget it. Watch Moore, too. He Tyran Mathieu's his opponents aka he gets out of the way n tries to grab n trip runners from behind. I think they're afraid of injury so they avoid it.

I think its a bit of both, you'd be surprised to see where Castell ranks on not only tackles and breakups, but snaps too. But I agree it seems like there's time he's hesitant but stats still say he's not as bad as I thought

Except for thinking DJ Lagway plays anything like Anthoney Richardson. DJ Lagway is far more polished as a passer at his current age than AR is even today. Also Lagwy is a pass first QB who can run whereas AR is a run first QB bc of his lack of in game passing ability currently.

@@barrone71Don’t think he meant it like that. More about the explosive potential overall. DJ has a much higher ceiling for sure

Having a running QB makes the defense stay home from threat of the run or they have to keep a spie so that's an extra defender not in coverage also it keeps the defense guessing with Mertz they knew it was going to b either a pass or run that's it no creativity

I think Mertz has been the problem and we are about to see how bad Mertz really was and it almost cost Napier his job. Florida is already a top 5 SEC program now that he's out at QB. Mertz has been the problem
@therolandx
@therolandx 2 ай бұрын
Mertz's game is limited and allows defenses to load the box with 7 guys and disregard the deep throws. Lagways game is only going to get better and love seeing him flick the wrist for a 30 yard throw. Bigger things are coming from Lagway and the offense.
@uniformfoxtrot23
@uniformfoxtrot23 2 ай бұрын
I agree totally and have been saying as such. Mertz would be great if we had a great D, but we don’t. If Mertzplayed vs. UK our run game wouldn’t have opened up and I honestly think we would have lost. He misses deep reads and throws that are the hidden secrets to win (like vs. UM) and DJL will create that intangible winning edge
