In case you notice a weird volume shift at the beginning of the end jam: That wasn't us. It took us a while to find out, but it seems to be caused by a relatively new feature in the KZbin mobile app called "Stable Volume". It's supposed to even out unbalanced video soundtracks, but it just wreaks havoc on the end jam where we wanted a dynamic buildup. KZbin's algorithm boosts the intro because it thinks it's not loud enough and then abruptly makes up its mind again when the Kick sets in... If you want you can disable "Stable Volume" under video settings (the cogwheel icon in the upper right corner) > other settings.

A note for all Hapax users: In the new firmware 2.00 there actually is a way to get swing per track: Since swing is a MIDI effect on the Hapax you can select the rows you don't want to have swing and set the MATH attribute to "NO FX" :)

Captain, your videos are excellent to me. The edits show impressive details that arrive unexpectedly and I'm hugely impressed with how much you have to teach with every submission I watch. Kit reviews are more helpful than any I've seen and these are essential to my search for a machine that will fit. Simple, unobstructed visual cuts allow me to absorb your formulas and help me to understand technique. Clean and approachable. Details between cuts are quite smartly thought out and even these short breaks make me smile bigger as the show progresses. It's time I finally visit to Patreon and I'm embarrassed to mention that I haven't already joined. You offer so much even for an old beginner and I wish to thank you.

I have a suspicion that the sound which you've mimicked by creating a roll was more of a studio trick than a programming thing. There are places where you can hear rolls and those are obvious. That sort of lead up to the snare hit before which you programmed a roll doesn't sound like the other rolls in the original. I wonder if instead it was reverse reverb. Like they turned the snare backward, put some reverb on it, printed that, then turned the whole thing forward again. Or if it was indeed programming, perhaps they had a slower attack on the snares in the roll. But I think it was more likely reversed reverb.
@CaptainPikant

It definitely does approximate it well. And your videos are really well done. Your video for Bjork’s Hunter was amazing to witness. My apologies for being perhaps overly critical. I can be a bit too literal when it comes to these kinds of things at times. For example, when people say that Jonny Greenwood used a filter envelope pedal on his solo for Paranoid Android it drives me insane, knowing that he used a mutronics mutator which is quite a lot more than an envelope filter. Thanks for your wonderful videos.
