Yes I'm aware Jesse graduated High school 🤣I used the 'stoner drop-out' term more figuratively than literally. The scene of Jesse telling him 'I graduated, dick' was from El Camino. My analysis mostly sticks to Breaking Bad the TV show, since we're only analyzing TV characters.

He learned how to cook by doing it with Walt, he memorized each steps, even though he would probably have been unable to write the formula down or to understand all the chemical reactions, but he would have been able to show other people what to do in a lab from what he had learned from Walt. He's able to learn things he's interested in quickly. I guess he's more an artsy guy, he enjoyed drawing, and good with his hands, like the wooden chest he had made. I think he has a high EQ (emotional quotient), he's good at reading people and situations, so there are also analytic skills present. He's also a very sensitive guy, I think his parents have damaged him somehow with their behavior. Otherwise, he could have ended up going to college and get a degree.

Jesse is indeed a tragic character, played by a damn good actor. I cheered so loud when he killed Todd and finally flees. I freakin cried for him. Of all the characters of Breaking Bad that deserved to be hated, it was Todd. Yes, Todd, not Skylar, not Gus, not Mike, not Jack, not even Walt, it was that sick bastard Todd. No character death has ever been so satisfying to see. He didn't want to fuck around and Todd found out quick. El Camino didn't need a dramatic ending. To see him live, to see him start over, moving on, maybe offering Brock some hope of future closure from his mom's death... that's the reward he recieves for being a survivor. Aaron Paul is fantastic. He and Bryan Cranston were one hell of a duo.
@Doombot2point02 ай бұрын
Yeah Todd has zero redeemable qualities, unless you want to count his politeness? But that's rather overshadowed by his inhumanly psycho traits lol Him being choked to death by Jesse (much like Walt choked out Crazy 8 which is interesting) was so cathartic. As complicit as Jesse is with the crimes in the show, Jesse wasn't a cold killing criminal or something. The audience saw he was redeemable and deep down he was a good person. Him literally breaking his chains and freeing himself from the shackles of his broken, crime riddled life is very cathartic. The cherry on top is Jesse basically telling Walt to go fuck himself when Walt thinks he can casually ask Jesse to shoot him and put him out of his misery lol

Jesse is not just a "sweet caring guy", he brought pretty much everything onto himself and destroyed many lives out of his own extreme negligence. A lot of what make says to Walt about him "blowing it all up out of pride and ego", and having to be the man actually applies way more to Jesse. Who was complaining about his salary while making over a million dollars working for Gus? Not Walt, Jesse! Who just had to be the man and steal the meth from Gus to sell on his own? Not Walt, Jesse! Jesse's main character flaws are being prideful, emotionally impulsive, and negligent. Walt's main character flaw is caring too much about Jesse, letting him bring them both down and having to take extreme actions to deal with the consequences.
@SwordHandler22210 ай бұрын
The little dig you took at Walt that he would wouldn't hesitate to turn on Jesse was just ridiculous, Walt has killed multiple people to save Jesse. Walt was only willing to turn on Jesse after an extreme betrayal on Jesse's part.
@somewhereinthemiddle653410 ай бұрын
Respectfully, gotta disagree with you. Walt consistently prioritized his own interests over Jesse's well-being in about 10 different scenarios - especially more towards the end of the show, as he fell deeper into his villain arc. Remember when Walt manipulated Jesse into killing Gale, or when he poisoned Brock to manipulate Jesse? This shows Walt's willingness to sacrifice Jesse as Walt gets greedier and greedier. While there were instances of Walt protecting Jesse yeah, they IMO were overshadowed by much worse stuff. What extreme disloyalty are you referring to on Jesse's part?
@SwordHandler22210 ай бұрын
@@somewhereinthemiddle6534 I'm referring to Jesse telling Walt he's going to "get him where he really lives" and pouring gasoline all over his house followed by ratting on Walt to the DEA. And Walt was planning to kill Gale himself, I don't blame him for having Jesse do it as an alternative to getting killed by Mike. And I mean Jesse owes Walt that much after Walt killed the gangbangers to save Jesse's life. They were only in that situation to begin with due to Jesse just having to be the man and go after the two gangbangers. Brock was unharmed in the long run and so was Jesse in that poisoning plot. If Walt did not poison Brock, there was a high likelihood Hank would have been killed, same with Walt's family. Poisoning Brock seems to be the preferable moral alternative at that point. These aren't just isolated instances of Walt protecting Jesse, his irrationally strong love for Jesse is a defining character feature. Jesse is basically like a son to him in his mind.
@SwordHandler22210 ай бұрын
@@somewhereinthemiddle6534 The smart and cold hearted thing to do would have been to kill Jesse right after he started threatening Walt when Jesse got beat up by Hank, not have Gus hire Jesse. OR how about allow Gus to kill Jesse when he comes up with his dumbass plan to kill Gus' employees OR how about don't go out and run over two gangbangers, ruining your entire relationship with the murderous kingping Gus, and putting everything you've been working for at risk just to save Jesse from doing something moronic OR how about when Jesse starts being an idiot again and throwing his money out his car window and risking everything for you, have him killed then OR how about set up a plan to kill Jesse after he's poured gasoline all over your house. Nope, just meet him in a public place to legitimately hash things out with him after that... Walt ONLY decides to kill Jesse after it's clear he cannot be reasoned with and it's extremely clear he's trying to ruin everything Walt has worked for

Jesse underaporeciated & over shadowed..? Idk if I’m right but this screams “didn’t watch breaking bad until season 1 of BCS.” That’s totally okay, by the way. But you can’t just rewrite history. Before BCS I’d very much put the popularity and frequency of which he was brought up/referenced in pop culture right up there with Heisenberg bro. Seriously. Ask anyone who was part of the fandom from the beginning he would sometimes overshadow Walt if anything. BCS changed much of the “appreciation” (popularity amongst viewers) by allowing us more time with amazing actors; that plus recency bias gaslit you my man. Good video tho, subbed
@somewhereinthemiddle6534 Жыл бұрын
I watched BB from day 1. Jesse is quite overshadowed in the pop culture zeitgeist then and now if compared to WW. Not majorly, but WW is and was about as popular as a TV character has ever been. So yes, a little overshadowed in my eyes lol
