There are a multitude of timestamps in the description to navigate to any World Record you'd like to watch. It's taken forever for the video to fully process all video qualities, so hopefully the full scale of the video render (4K) will be processed in the coming hours. We're taking a blast to the past and having a fun time analyzing and reacting to Mario Kart Wii World Records from 2008. Doing this the past 3 years for the recent day World Records, I wanted to do this for every year of the game's history, so we start back at the beginning in 2008. These were all of the current Mario Kart Wii World Records as of December 31st, 2008, having a fun look at what was discovered and optimized in just the first 8 months of the game. I could have done the very 'first' documented records, but not all of them have videos and almost none of them have ghost data to provide high quality video recordings for. Every World Record that had ghost data I recorded in high quality, which these records never had before to have a more enjoyable viewing experience. All video credits for any of them that did not have ghost data are appropriately credited in the description. Thank you all who have made their efforts to document our game's history! If you enjoyed the past 3 years of me doing this for recent Mario Kart Wii World Records, I think you'll enjoy this blast from the past. ✅ Analyzing and Reacting to All Mario Kart Wii World Records Entering 2022: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qXXHdmd_ZZ5qjKc ✅ Analyzing and Reacting to All Mario Kart Wii World Records Entering 2021: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jHelg62EbtKfZpY ✅ Most Iconic WRs - Zeke on Bowser's Castle: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nHKaiWpnbpKUbKs ✅ Most Iconic WRs - Cole's First Sub 2:30 on Rainbow Road: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ppSwaqWehtOYeZo ✅ The History of Glitching GCN Waluigi Stadium in Real Time: kzbin.info/www/bejne/e4u0lHaCa5KXrK8 🔔 Subscribe! ▷ bit.ly/2udIfG6 📹 Twitch Streams ▷ twitch.tv/nmeade 🐤 Twitter ▷ twitter.com/nmeade 📸 Instagram ▷ instagram.com/nmeade5

So many awesome memories from what was one of (if not the most) competitive speedrunning scenes at the time, before the niche grew and we even knew we were "speedrunning", LOL. You'd need several hours to even scrape the surface of all the stories, WR battles, interesting players, strat developments, etc, which goes far beyond the simple stats of mkwrs unfortunately. I hope there's another truly unique MK with enough depth and scrappiness for us and (mainly) next generations to experience it all over.

All of these players were pioneers in their own right, but watching Jascha on CM really makes you appreciate just how far ahead of his time he was with his driving. He was doing delay drifts months before other players, and took the turns much tighter in general, giving his playstyle a much more modern look compared the other 2008 WRs. It's even more mindblowing when you remember he was only around 11 years old when he set that CM time!

What's a delay drift?
@jamesmuraski19 ай бұрын
@@SweetMelaninnthere is 2 types of drifts in Mario kart Wii. 2008 drift is when you hop (to drift) and turn in the direction you wanna drift at the same time. Delay drifting is hopping (to start your drift) and then waiting to turn the direction you wanna drift in right before your bike touches the ground after hopping. A good example of 2008 drifting (that you can see visually) is the first turn on Luigi circuit in this video, the bike practically moves directions mid air which can mess up alignment as well as making it longer to charge mini turbos

Arc it's been too long! So great to hear from you. I think I popped my head in the Unity Ventrilo once around 2011 or 2012 but you weren't there on that day. The days with Unity in 2008 were some of my most fondest memories in the game, we had such an awesome core with you, myself, Crrrr, Jerk, YK, Keoni, Jawee, Triforce and more with messing around with races, warring in WCL and just having a great time. You also introduced me to a lot of great music back then that I still listen to today! I hope you've been well after all this time, it's a pleasure to hear from you :)

Contrary to sort of the main message of this video, the main thing I'm impressed by is actually how similar these records look to the current ones. I don't understand how so much was understood and accomplished in just 8 months. I mean, I've been TTing this game for way more than 8 months with modern knowledge, and I still have a slower time than these on literally the majority of them. Even if that mostly has to do with the fact that I'm bad at the game, these runs are still insanely impressive!

Amazing video! It's always so fascinating to see how much the TT scene has evolved over the years. I was only 5 years old when I got into time trials in 2010 and I was always amazed at how these players were so good. In 2013 I then stopped looking at the TT scene and instead spent a lot of time attempting ultra shortcuts. Only got back into the TT scene this year and I'm loving it again! Players like KingAlex, Fox, Cole, Guy really shaped the legacy of this game. It's always nostalgic to revisit those times! Keep up the great work!
