Screw 9-7 honestly. That level was pure HELL and SUFFERING... The only way I even got a solid chance at beating the level and collecting all 3 of it's Star Coins was by using the penguin suit and the super star. I only 100% completed that level in one go because I REFUSED to play through such a sadistic level again (Also, I LOVE World 8's theme in Wii, my favorite theme in the NSMB series)

<a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="2294">38:14</a>. That star coin was actually meant to be grabbed by using a star from earlier in the level, just as you used in World 6 Spine coaster level. The spine coaster can be cheesed with an acorn powerup by just full sending it, then using a jump at the end to get up onto the platform. And in W9, that last star coin can be grabbed by juking the Cheep Chomp so that it clears the path. You technically don't *need* any powerups to get any star coins, though it is easier.

In NSMB DS, for the w6 tower, you don't need the mini mushroom for star coin 3. Just jump off the Dry Bones and wall jump up.

To be fair, World 7 in New Super Mario Bros. DS does have those Green Paratroopas that hop and hunt you down, no matter how you want to survive. As for World 7 in Wii, Ludwig exists, and I had a hard time fighting him first time, because his projectile homes in on you. And I just hate Ludwig with the white-hot passion of…anything as hot as the sun! And don’t get me started on Rock Candy Mines-7. I had to sacrifice Luigi, and thought it was worth it.

This was an awesome review of each game's difficulty. My experience with each one was similar but a little different. I can't recall my death counts off hand but here is my ranking from easiest to hardest... 5.) New Super Mario Bros. 2 4.) New Super Mario Bros. DS 3.) New Super Mario Bros. U 2.) New Super Mario Bros. Wii 1.) New Super Luigi U The Wii and U games were actually pretty close to me in terms of difficulty. I found World 6 to be harder in U but found World 8 to be slightly easier. Star Road in Mario U though kicked my as* and I found it harder than Star Road in Wii. However, if you count the Challenge Mode at the end of Mario U, then I actually might place Mario U at a higher difficulty than Wii. But I'm not counting those here. I won't talk about Luigi U. Either I sucked at it, or the game is much harder than Mario U.

Honestly yeah the rankings is honestly how I feel about these games in difficultly like if a 11 year old me who could beat nsmb2 in 1 day while a 13 year old me takes a week to complete nsmbu while me right now can't seem to find every star coin in nsmbds and hasn't beaten nsmbwii since I was 7 with family to only finishing it now tells you the difficultly you need to know.

Explaining looking back on playing the NSMB games as fun is. Ironic to me. Cause I have played and 100% completed most of them with my brother, save for NSMB2, as we dont own it. And my god. I have never wanted to strangle my brother more. They say Mario Party ends friendships or makes em stronger, but if u can survive NSMB with someone who runs off and takes the camera with him, steals ur items, and does risky manuevers despite u being unable to keep up?? It is. A Nightmare. Also never play World 7 Tower with a second person. Ever. The rage i felt when i was controlling the lift n my brother kept Missing Bomb Throws…. Despite this i still love these things. I just have a toxic relationship with them. Somehow Newer Super Mario Bros Wii was less painful than NSMBW or NSMBU. Like a fanmod made to be harder. Was less annoying and not as much of a scream fest. The five stars were worth it tho

I knew as soon as he admitted to any difficulty at all with the DS game that involved anything other than the block snakes that the Wii game was going to eat him alive. I found the 3DS game harder to 100%. The 3DS game hid its coins and exits better, and made you play cannon stages.

The only problem with these games is how many power ups there are in each level. There are just sooo many. You're almost always big Mario, allowing you to damage boost all the time. It wasn't the case in the original Super Mario Bros and Super Mario Bros 2 The Lost Levels. All games starting from smb3 and beyond are just straight up easy in my opinion

I've tried to 100% NSMBU Deluxe, and I've completed every typical requirement, but I haven't gotten the last star. I believe that this may be because I used Nabbit to complete a whole lot of levels throughout my experience. Is there a chance you know what I'm missing?

maybe you forgot a exit. I had to do every level with a secret exit (normal and secret exit) again to obtain the fifth star. I was missing one secret exit in world 6

I remember years ago on the Wii U version had this issue for so long, have you caught nabbit in every level he can show up in? I know that’s one of the requirements I remember I had caught him so many times and never got it either till I think I had used every single toad house (and I can’t remember if I had to beat the game again or not but that might of been it after I did that) I think just getting all of the toad houses used and catching nabbit enough tho should work if my memory spans far back enough
