Good job Ilya. Enjoyed watching all the World Champion series of Kramnik and Kasparov on your channel (thanks for the subtitles!). World Champions' minds operate at a different level - Once a world champ, always a world champ.

Say it proudly Anand, you were a *World Champion in 2000* ! It is Anand's gentlemanly stature that makes him say "okay it was a disputed title!" Important facts/clarifications: 1. Kramnik and Kasparov _did not_ participate: so they were the ones that were scared. 2. _The 2000 FIDE event was a World Championship_ ( *just like boxing had a split title at that time, chess had one from 1993-2006* ). 3. The _World Cup_ was a separate event in the *same year, won by Anand as well!* (hence Anand's confusion! it was held at Shenyang China that year). [If people say Anand did not try for a rematch with Kasparov, they are wrong as well! From 1998-1999 negotiations broke down because Kasparov did not even find a sponsor who was willing to pay any money to Anand!] Hello sissies/pussies Kramnik and Kasparov!

I think sponsors felt that Anand/Shirov would be crushed easily by Kasparov and it will be one sided. Kasparov had smashed Shirov previously without a single defeat and also never lost a single classical game with Anand after Anand's game 9 victory in WCC in 1995. For 10 years, Anand was not able to win a single classical game against Kasparov. So, maybe that was the reason sponsors were not ready to put huge money on a lopsided match; In hindsight, it was good that Kramnik play against Kasparov and won against him. Showing the world that Kasparov is after all a human and not a God; Anand is one of the greatest players of all time and a wonderful gentleman. I don't know the reason, maybe it could be playing style or whatever, he suffered so much against Kasparov. I don't think anyone crushed Anand like Kasparov did. Of course, Carlsen beat him a lot after 2011 but I don't think anyone crushed Anand consistently as Kasparov. Aronian in his initial encounters had a very good score against Anand but Anand eventually started playing well against him and managed to score some memorable wins. In Anand's illustrious career, only the two GOATS Kasparov/Carlsen had a very good record against him ; If not for these two, I think Anand would have been rated even higher in the chess pantheon of legends;
