For those who are using archfi on a 4k screen make sure to set your font to the size you want then skip font reset by the installer when sh(ing) the script sh archfi -sf

I tried the Zen Installer and it almost made me put my fist through my monitor. Installer didn't work and I thought it was something I was doing wrong.

What linux distro do you recommend for total noobs to linux, like me? :P Ive thought about using linux many times, but what prevents me is that i like gaming alot, and #1 is fl studio with asio driver!
@LordPhan4 жыл бұрын
I recommend the Cinnamon desktop. I started off with Linux Mint with the Cinnamon desktop while dual booting Windows 7. I then moved one computer full time to Linux Mint. Then my wife told me she preferred using Mint to Windows 10 which she had on her laptop so I put Mint on her laptop. I have a Windows XP and a Windows 7 pc too but offline. Recently we decided to hook up the Windows 7 pc to the Internet, to do so I just installed Manjaro with the Cinnamon desktop on it. It still has the option of booting into Windows 7 to play some of the games that don't work yet on Linux. The wife and kids just usually stay on Manjaro. Manjaro with the Cinnamon desktop would give you a very updated system with an easy to use desktop. Many windows games now work on Linux using Proton or WINE. Proton is being developed by Steam and they keep getting more games working. ProtonDB has a list of which games are working under proton. It is easy to try it out with Dual booting. I did so a couple years ago and found I liked Linux much better. One thing to note, an average computer user has LESS of a learning curve than a power user. A power user has to learn the Linux file system to do more advanced things. The Linux file system is based on Unix. It has no relation to Dos/Windows. It took me about a month to learn it in my spare time. I have never used fl studio so I don't know which if any Linux program is the equivalent.

Manjaro has the best gaming community and the AUD is full of gaming related software. Linux does not use asio driver it uses alsa or jack audio both are superior to asio

@@Pinko-Diamond what manjaro verison? its diffrent do download xfce gnome etc
@Pinko-Diamond4 жыл бұрын
@@pumbabeats420 xfce is slightly faster and kde is the most polished. Use xfce to maximize system speed. Learn to use timeshift it should be installed. your important project files back up on a separate folder. The advantage of manjaro is that it gets brand new and much more indie software then mint or ubuntu from the AUD but it's possible to brake it by messing around too much. The forums are friendly and tons of gamers. Try installing proton for steam to play windows games (it is instant on arch but it is painful on ubuntu). All things instantly install and update to the newest version that is why you need a backup and always update once a week in case something brakes. Otherwise it's worth it for gaming imo.

@@pumbabeats420 don't use Manjaro. The most toxic community I've been a part of so far, ngl. If you want a good, arch-based gaming distro, go for Arcolinux. Their entire distro is ment to teach you the basics of Linux. Look into the Linux-ck kernel (ck-repo on arch wiki). Gave me a huge boost in performance, personally.
