some of my mutual youtubers are: kellinisking, motherf4ckingprincess, bella boo, morgan thompson vlogs, and mad molly (there might b more but that’s all i can think of rn) i don’t watch a whole lot of scene youtube bc my attention span doesn’t exist BUT i would 100000% recommend checking out the cozy representative!!! he makes amazing well-researched videos abt scene/emo lore like the rise and fall of popular bands from the time, beefs between certain scene bands, generally just super interesting stuff that goes in depth about the culture as it was when it was happening so probably my fav channel ever

As an elder emo, I remember back in 2011+ I felt like I was too fat to be scene and emo, and I did dress the part as best I could, but people definitely made fun of me for it. But now I’m so thankful that people are a lot more accepting and actually enjoy seeing people with all sorts of body types. Now I am living my best emo life, as a full grown adult 😅🖤 I’m so glad Gen Z is embracing the fun parts of early scene culture, but with today’s social standards.

I was born in 2002 and since I was very young during the emo/scene era I wasn't able to be emo or scene but the few emo and scene kids I remember seeing back then I thought they were the coolest looking people in the world. The closest I was to emo back then was having mcr, falling in reverse, bullet for my valentine, and other emo and screamo bands on my ipod. 4 years ago I started to get into the early 2000s emo style and now the only thing im missing is the hair I have the length but thats it. Sorry for the long ass comment btw and if anyone decides to take the time to read it thanks!!! rawr XD Gawddamn I never thought i would get over 500 likes on a KZbin comment lol

I felt so nervous about wearing skinny jeans etc. because not a single guy did. After a while more guys would wear skinny jeans, grow their hair and style it, etc. Lots of classic emo music came out during that time too. Btw yes I had long black-dyed hair swept to the side.

I was bullied for being 'fat' as a UK size 16 throughout my teens and never had the confidence to dress in the style I LOVED. I'm now 26, a lot more overweight, but I dye my hair however I want and wear as much eyeliner as I can because fuck society, I finally have the confidence to rock that style and I'm making up for my lost teens! OMG ASDFGHJKL IVE NEVER RELATED TO SOMEONE THIS MUCH BEFORE!!! When you said; “but for some reason my interests will not progress from the years that I was 10, 11, and 12” OH MY GOD. I FEEL THE EXACT SAME WAY. I’m 22 and Neurodivergent (specifically ASD) and my interests literally haven’t seemed to change at all. The oldest I would say they’ve progressed to is 14 at the most. But after that age, I just seemed to come to a standstill. One of my biggest insecurities is that to the normal person, it seems a bit weird-like you said. I frequently find myself romanticizing the past/my childhood and I just don’t relate to this generation or society today at all. There’s so many things that are wrong and make me uncomfortable and aghhhh I can’t even explain it. But you literally took the words right out of my mouth!!! This is the first video I’ve seen of yours, and I definitely subscribed. Any content like this that makes me feel wholesome, nostalgic, and comfy inside... I’m all for.

yessss i relate to so many people in the asd community, wish i could get an assessment but as an adult afab without health insurance it doesn’t seem very realistic at the moment xD it’s very comforting having a group of people to relate to whether or not i have a diagnosis
@tinyghostcat143 жыл бұрын
@@acidmilk666 well, tbh I would suggest you do in depth research on KZbin and other forms for a year or two (that’s what I did) like videos that ask you certain questions and go in depth about your childhood, things you did (or still do), development, social skills, etc. and there’s also a free test online (not like a Facebook quiz or something) no, like a legit several page test. I don’t remember what it’s called but I found it by researching how to asses if you are on the autism spectrum. It will tell you your exact severity. I’m pretty high functioning, but I still have major lack of social skills and social anxiety. And there just some personal things that I don’t want to go into cause I find myself embarrassing lol, but there are just some things I’ve always done since childhood that won’t ever “get better” also, don’t EVER let anyone tell you your symptoms as a person on the spectrum will “get better” autism doesn’t get better, it just is what it is. And people have to accept you for the way you are. After I got my diagnosis, I explained this to my mom and it’s been hard for her to accept the fact that there are just things that I will always do, or not do. It’s just the way we are. And I’d like to add, I hate when people say we “don’t function the same” or “don’t think the same” well, it’s not that we aren’t as smart as other people, in fact, sometimes we are smarter than typical people and can see things they don’t. So it’s not that we don’t have the ability to “think the same” it’s that, our brains are literally wired differently. So don’t let anyone ever say anything like that to you either

The fact that people born in the very late 2000s enjoying the emo/scene sub culture is so crazy to me! It’s honestly really cool, I was an emo kid in high school and that was in 2014. My friend at the time had introduced it to me. The emo sub culture was very much still alive, I went to warped tour in 2015, I had so many band tees from hot topic (back when they had a lot more band merch instead of pop culture) and would cut my own hair, I wasn’t allowed to dye it but that didn’t stop me lol. I always had full on winged eyeliner. Having a huge variety of music on my crappy phone with Batman earbuds. Oh my gosh those were the days, I even had a full on black veil brides shoulder bag for school. Now a days I’m very much into goth music and more metal sounding music along with 70s and 80s pop and I dress gothic now instead of emo. :)

I remember reading her interview for rolling stone about it. Honestly there's bad and good with everything. Lots of hate during that time. Maybe it's nice people still want to dress like a scene kid or people who "didn't live through it." If you're not hurting yourself or others, why hate? It's like people who dress like hippies from the 60s, should we shun them too? No one owns a culture or fashion.. you do YOU!

I lived the early 2000s, but I am just a couple years older than you. I would say that in its height was right when my friends and I started to have our own identities, get to listen to the music, and indulge in the culture. I did not partake in the fashion however because my family wasn't very well off, all my clothes at the time were hand-me-downs from my preppy cousin. I always felt out of place when my friends got to wear their colored skinny jeans and band tees to school and I didn't have any of that stuff. But when I got to college and started making my own money and living on my own, I got to finally dive in. And I love it! I understand that people aren't always nice about it but I really don't think there is an aged demographic for enjoying something so long as it doesn't harm anyone. Sometimes circumstances lead us to having to have these things later in life but that doesn't make you enjoying yourself any less valid.

The livestreams sounds cool! Even if they are just you talking about your interests, it still sounds nice!
