Embracing Watercolour Accidents and Mistakes | Loose Atmospheric Landscape | A Tree in Sunset Light

Accidents in watercolour happen - and I believe they are our best teachers. I had a different idea for the composition in this scene but I had to pivot early in the painting process and I ended up loving the results. You can see how it all unfolded in this video.

Absolutely stunning, my favorite setting, trees and sunsets. The potters pink in the sunset was a nice touch instead of a more intrusive red and I will be adding a sea sponge to my tool chest. I just found you today and this was my third or fourth video and I absolutely love your style and technique (and your presentation and music). You kept indicating doing something on the right but it was on the left of the screen, then I realized that you are in Australia so it would be backward/upside down, LOL. Sunsets and trees are my favourite subjects too! Have fun with sponges - they are such a useful tool in watercolour painting. I mainly use them for trees but they can also be used to create textures on rocks, etc. Thank you for watching my videos, and I am so glad to hear you are enjoying them. Happy painting!
