Initially hailed as pioneers of an entire sub genre, ANATHEMA has spent the vast majority of their career making music that defies description and easy pigeonholing. Quietly progressive and perpetually focused on new horizons, the band have been steadily and constantly evolving: they embraced languorous Floydian hues as far back as the mid 90s, when such things were wildly unfashionable; their mastery of melancholy, melody and spine-tingling atmosphere setting them proudly apart from their erstwhile peers, and as progressive music entered a new phase of credibility and renown in the 21st century, propelling them to the forefront of a nebulous but increasingly adored musical movement.
Anathema were an English rock band from Liverpool. The group was formed in 1990 by Vincent and Daniel Cavanagh, bassist Jamie Cavanagh, drummer/keyboardist John Douglas, and vocalist Darren White. The band maintained an active concert schedule throughout their career.

My favorite band of all time. These Liverpool boys has come a long way.Hate to say they stop making music primarily due to monetary reason. Hell, people can't appreciate good music. Your daughter has a great taste. Much love for Anathema from South Asia. Will keep supporting them till death.

We're here because we're here is the album, indeed. Been listening to them since 2005.💜💜💜 Will love them forever! Jaime Cavanagh (bass) and Vinny Cavanagh (lead singer and rhythm guitar) are twins and Danny Cavanagh (lead guitar and backing vocals) is their older brother (by almost a year). John Douglas (drums) and Lee Douglas (lead / backing vocals) are brother and sister (she's his little sister). And the guy on keys, Daniel Cardoso, is the "adopted" Douglas brother. Vinny and John met at school, when they were 11. That's where it all began. They are from Liverpool. It is a Roman amphitheatre.

Great reaction. Hope they do make a comeback. Lee Douglas is a terrific singer. One of my favourites is A Natural Disaster from A Sort of Homecoming DVD. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eoauaWCai9OYm8U They are from Liverpool hence the drummer's Everton shirt (better if it was the Reds, never mind!)
