The first time I listened to this I was free camping with a couple of friends in a small beach in Fournous Ikaria in Greece. That summer I had broken up with my girlfriend after I don't know how many years. So I am lying on the beach, the sun had just set and we had just finished a bottle of strong tsipouro. One of my friends put this on a half dead cd player and it blew my mind. I sat there gazing at the stars and put the track on repeat till I fell asleep. Next morning I walked into town and got on the ship to go back home. The ex girlfriend turned into current wife and I couldn't be happier

My dog passed away exactly a year ago this past Friday. The lines: "I had to let you go To the setting sun I had to let you go And find a way back home" absolutely tore me up when I heard this song and I thought about her. I was sobbing like a baby. I had her since she was just a pup. Out of a litter of six other pups, she chose me and followed me all around my parents' farm the entire week I stayed with them. When my parents asked me if I wanted to take her, I didn't hesitate to bring her home with me. She was my hiking, walking, running friend and confidant. She helped me get through some very rough times and was always there to protect, love and comfort me and my kids. She didn't trust anyone else but me and my kids except for my girlfriend who eventually became my fiance and, now, my wife. Her loss left us all with a big, gaping hole in our home and hearts. Fortunately, she left behind a son of her own whom we still have and cherish. He's helped fill that void she left and continues to do so everyday. I'll never forget her. Thank you, Anathema, for this song. It's truly a blessing.

I will never be thankful enough to an old friend of mine that introduced me to this song; he asked me “is there a song that has ever made you cry?” I said no and then he told me to listen to this song. It is almost unbelievable what Anathema's music has become. And Vincent's voice has never been more beautiful, so open, confident and strong. It is like awakening. But, seriously: For us, it is some kind of emotional black hole, created by the collapse of a massive life experience into something very small (simple sounds and words) that spins around persistently within an emotional field so strong it can no longer be contained until a pair of new chords crack the field and it burst in such a huge and long climax with unlimited energy powered by the release of a new set of musical atoms dancing together so wildly around the cosmos with so much vitality they just can only go on and on and on like forever. Sublime! That´s the Absolute on a stage! Very few times in life we get close to Eternity or Infinity through the fusion with another soul. And very few times we feel something similar with a piece of music. This is one of them. Monotone is not the word, it´s "Ostinato": a musical device used here almost like a musical symbol. It should be that way in order to express the timeless essential nature of the content. Very wise. That´s the musical equivalent of Emotional Intelligence.

When the vocals start in 17 sec, and in 3min 09 sec, his singing sounds so great that "i can´t describe". Like the Jesus Christ himself would be singing to us. Vinnie is so musical and his voice is extremelly colourful and it resonates straight in to the human heart.

this song perfectly applies to me. i fell in love with a girl and we both wanted each other. before we really got close a dispute between us happened, instead of trying to solve it in a rational way, she cheated on me with another guy. She and him broke up a few weeks later and she wanted me back because she realized that she loved me but i kept refusing her. I have "never betrayed her trust" but she did. " i never betrayed your faith" but she did betray mine and for that i had to let her go no matter how hard she tries to be with me. She literately brought me down as a person and i had to find a way back to my normal self after suffering so much emotional trauma.

I am in danger of similar situation, there's a girl I really, really love, but she doesn't love me. We both like each other, and she is in love with one of my best buddies (who likes her a lot, but does not see she's into her). To make things worse, closest friend of this girl makes everything so they could be with each other. I am dying internally.
