It's very interesting how the Pelvis is pretty much the first exercise of the Anatomy Premium Course and it easily crushes your beginner ambitions, because this isn't easy xD
@renovatiomovies35744 жыл бұрын
@Guilherme Pinto I guess this was intentional, as sometimes when people learn or do something out of their comfort zone, they end up learning even more than they eventually would. This might be why Proko gave the pelvis as the first exercise of the anatomy course, to put us, artists, outside of our comfort zone.

instead of defining that complicated squished ellipse Axis which i don't understand its concept, y can just draw a box that has the same ratio from top to bottom that accommodate the squished ellipse then scale down the bottom plane of the box and draw those 2 ellipse on those 2 planes, also the widest line of the squished ellipse should always be on the center sides of the pelvis

I'm trying to understand the method to construct the ellipse (so I can remember it well), why is the angle of the ellipse is in between the line perpendicular to the tilt axis and the side-to-side line of the ellipse?
@miguellavariel13487 жыл бұрын
Good question! Don't understand that part as well :(
@tobiasrettinger68956 жыл бұрын
if you still have trouble with that, i'll try to explain: first imagine a zylinder with a perfect circle as the top and bottom plain. For that, the angle of the ellipse is exactly perpendicular to the tilt axis. now you introduce a direction, in which the zylinder can be streched (in this case it's the line between the 'asis'es). As that stretch approaches infinity, the angle of the ellipse would get closer to the stretching line. That's why the angle of the ellipse is somewhere in between. Since the exact angle depends on the stretching ratio, as well as the point of view, from where we're looking at the zylinder and one usually can't draw a perfect ellipse anyway, it's probably the best choice to go with round about the bisector of the two lines. (you could calculate the angle mathematically, however as stan mentioned in the video that isn't the best approach). hope i could help anyone who is still struggling :)
@miguellavariel13486 жыл бұрын
Oh think I get it now. The part in the middle about the stretch approaching infinity nailed it for me! Struggled with this a long time and couldn't find a solution, so thanks a lot friend!👍

With this kind of presentation, I meet struggle with knowing where the pointer is, as a mouse pointer is easier to follow with your eyes on a screen, here this little dot is quite stealthy! It would be easier to know what you're looking at with the integration of some arrows upon the video, I think.

i still prefer draw the simple bucket shape for the pelvis. i do understand that knowing how to draw a a detailed pelvis would aid in drawing from imagination but I feel that it depends on your personal style, Some artists would want to go that far but for others maybe a simple shape would suffice. its like how we would not draw every single rib and sternum when drawing the ribcage.

NXS18 Look up Marshall Vandruff's Perspective lectures- he's selling them very cheaply now:). Also the video tutorials of Scott Robertson are VERY helpful when drawing geometric forms in perspective. Scot Robertson talks a bit about squeezed or arched forms in perspective. I hope this helps a little.

I am confuse about that thing of long axes or something like that. I just draw the circle or well elipse as the base of my pelvis but I think Proko says for do the elipse right? I am confuse help x,d
@YoshiMario693 жыл бұрын
Its not difficult because of complexity. If you are having issues it's because you havent studied perspective and don't have basic drawing techniques developed far enough. Before attempting anatomy you must practice perspective and drawing basic forms. If you do not have a good grasp on cylinders, you absolutely cannot draw a bucket. Before drawing a cylinder, you must be able to draw a long box in perspective. Before you can draw a box you must learn linear perspective. Before you can learn linear perspective you must understand basic ALGEBRA and GEOMETRY. if you lack basic mathematical principles and hate math, the STRUCTURAL approach will be very difficult. It's not impossible to get through that hurdle though, and I dare say that if you really want to learn the structural approach to figure and picture making you will make the sacrifice. If you don't want to, ask yourself if you even really want to learn this or if you are willing to work a thousand times harder due to your grudge on math.

Why don't we construct using a box for this pelvis please answer because a box is simple
@camus1416 жыл бұрын
The box is not an accurate form for the pelvis. Unless you change its form to be closer to the actual pelvis shape. But if you do that, you get more close to a cylinder. Knowing how to draw cylinders, spheres, cubes... Are all the basics of drawing. If you skip those you gonna struggle at some point soon or later

Krishna Mistry I think you can use them on paper as well but I only use mine on digital tablets like Wacom Tablets. It's called a SmudgeGuard but that's just the brand name. It keeps your hand from sticking to the surface of the digital tablet. There are other ways to keep your hand from smudging a paper drawing like a Bridge - which keeps your hand from touching your drawing

I problem I felt was the lack of proportion between the width of the cylinder and its height, that threw me off... Please, do you thing we could you start from a 1:1 perspective cube so we can get our bearings on the right proportions of the cylinder? ...how much should it be? it's about 3/4 as tall as it is wide?
@camus1416 жыл бұрын
Make a square 1:1, divide it into nine equal squares, after that you increase the width of the big square by one little square. Now you have the proportions of a female pelvis.

am I the only one who'd rather draw a cylinder than the bucket? the bucket is so hard that it actually makes it more complicated to me.
@NeonFXx9 жыл бұрын
+boitahaki I use a bowl for my pelvis's and then I add some extra details onto it. I don't get why an artist would have to be so particular with the pelvis when most of it is hidden. I know where the showing landmarks are with my method and it takes significantly less time than these diagrams. Just my opinion :p

That squashed part is pretty tricky. I found one tube video about perfect circle cylinder in any angle in which is explained that if you are looking to top of the cyilder and the bottom (that line from top to bottom of elipse) that if they (tops) align to the cylinders vanishing point then cyilinder top is a circle in that case if we want to draw a cylinder that is not a perfect cyrcle (looking from above or in front) then we just dont align those tops with the vanishing point? Idk if my english explained it well...just wandering. Hate to go further if I have issues in understanding the first part of it.
