Romance scammers are stealing money from consumers every day, to the tune of $1.1 billion in 2023 alone. Anyone can be a target, no matter their background, including NBC10’s own Tracy Davidson. After one such scammer tried to target her, Tracy decided to share her interaction to expose their methods and help protect others from being scammed.

I can help in comments hahah Real Victims Real Pain Real Healing Real Education and Real God keeps putting these scammers in my life. I posted a new GoFundMe and some silent alarm went off on all my platforms! They just keep coming out as if some magical light came on like moth to a flame/light. I got skills now that I love sharing. For example, did you know scammers "clone" famous/growing platforms/profiles? I didn't. Do now..here is what I learned= Profile cloning is when someone makes a fake account and copies your name, pictures, and personal stuff from your real account. It's like someone stealing your identity online! They might use this fake account to trick your friends or family, or even try to get personal information from you. To stay safe, it's important to keep an eye on your account and report any suspicious activity. If you see a fake account that looks like yours, or get strange friend requests from people you don't know, let the platform's support team know right away!😮

This scammer moved to fast to be legit. His name was two Christian names an obvious red flag , plus too much flattery right off the bat.

That is exactly how I caught someone in Africa steal my original work. I am an Author,Writer, Certified Recovery Advocate, PSS, K-6Teacher Learning Coach, Teacher with Children's Evangelist Foundation....I have God bless skills even writing my 1at book about #AngelMarie birthstory. He c&p my original poem claiming it was *his*. Last time I checked men/male can not deliver human beings. It got my attention. Once I caught the acammer in 2008 that stole my CC by scanning it at the gas pump right Wells Fargo didn't care nor police..but this struggling simple momma of 5 did! I tracked him to where I found the GameSpot video and then police took me seriously hahaha I did the work they got to make the arrest 😅

I think it’s less about thinking clearly and more about being as aware of these scams as possible. I mean, clear thinkers are still capable of getting scammed, if the scammer plays their cards right with their social engineering techniques (ie pushing a sense of urgency, playing with the victim’s emotions, etc).

Maybe twenty years ago. Falling for a scam like this would be a little more understandable. I was even fooled for a little while with dating sites. It took a couple months to realize I was not talking to people that lived in my city, but someone from another country. That was the LAST time I ever wasted another penny on dating sites

Thank you for being here! I was catfished 2010-2011 and when I discovered who he reallybwas I tried to gwt out. He assulted me, i became pregnant and the baby loat her life at our abuser's hand! I reported it to my then pastor /former reno pd. I was met was disbelief, shame and victim blaming. #saymyname because it happened to #metoo scream #AngelMarie deserves #justice

@@Arizona_lilly 👋 thank you..pretty simple really. I was the perfect target ( I have been educated since) . I now know these red flags SO WELL! This broadcast inspired me to write my own article tonight! He lied. Plain and simple. He learned just how to speak to women ,treat them and forms patterns. He put on his mask then the ring went on. It was notbeven my 💍. The former victim reach out to ME. Shocked is not how I felt. I went through the entire grieving process and now imma hotter than the devil in hell during hot August nights 🔥 📛 Shame, guilt, self blame , self hatred then add the pain of the loss of a child at the hands of our abuser and relieve nothing than more shame, disbelief and victim blaming by your church no less! It must have been about fifteen years ago when I also got quite a bit of this stuff. I, however, had just met someone who appeared to have dissociative identity disorder and thought that this stuff was coming from the person's alters... (My replies must have led to a lot of confusion on the side of the scammers. 😂 ) Just goes to show that you can't tell who's who, online.

I was texted by Vince Cassel on Facebook, asking if he could call me. He is a French actor and I really like him. I think he wanted to talk sex or something. I'm like, wow, Vincent Cassel? I told him no, my number is private. Vincent Cassel married a couple of gorgeous women, the second one cheated on him after she had his baby. I asked him if had married a young Black woman and he said yes. I don't know what to think of this whole transaction. These shows that expose the romance scammers, ignore the people who want to talk to you on the phone. I don't get any of it.

Some of these scammer actors, really research the actor. They seem to become the actor, and must play it over and over to many different victims, so that answers come easy. If you ask them questions, they seem to answer questions that sound correct even though it could be a information that is not public. But watch and listen as they might slip up, and answer a question differently today versus last week, and also ask you a question they have already asked. In other words, the scammer has buddies they work with. They also do not want you to tell anyone as they do not want their agent manager to find out. All this is disturbing because we do not want our favorite actors/actress to get hurt by these scammers giving them a bad name.
