I really like the clean, modern and minimalistic design of those. For me they are one of the nicest vertical devices. And although many are complaining about so many devices coming out I‘m happy that we now have options to chose what we like most. What definitely would help if Anbernic would share a roadmap of their releases within a year for all those who are tempted to buy devices directly after their release.

Loved your very detailed and knowledgeable review. I ordered this handheld in white yesterday from Anbernic missing the sale by one day. I had a hard time choosing between white or blue as they both look great. Keep up the great reviews.

The Anbernic RG ARC. It’s got a great Sega style d-pad with 6 face buttons, I covered it on the channel last year. 🙏

Nice video ! One note for the sleep function, that you turned "off" right away going to the auto shut down setting, saying the sleep only turns off the display... Actually since the latest couple releases of stock fw on my rg35xxPlus sleep has become pretty good, if I tap the power button in the middle of a game and leave it there over night it only looses like 2-3 % while remaining in the game, kinda like an Android device. I suppose the same good deep sleep is implemented on the rg40xx models as well... Check it out!

As cursed as it is, I almost hope that Zu gets his wish! We could use a device like this (albeit, a bit more powerful) but with the stick in the middle and with 2 extra face buttons for N64. At the very least, I hope they keep this form factor moving forward for more powerful models! 💚

I'm a newbie with retro handhelds, between Rg35xxplus and that one 40xx .. is there a big difference??

Performance will be the same between the two, it’s really just preference. The 40XX will have the larger screen but will also be physically larger than the 35XX.

GREAT effn review, Rob. I just picked it up before the sale ended for $61usd $82cad. I've been waiting for a successor to my RG351V woodgrain. I decided to wait and see if there were any bugs, and so far it's only the analog stick which hopefully will have a cfw to fix it. luckily I got the sale! Got a question, did you try Killer Instinct for arcade? Is it able to play it well? Thanks Rob!

Im probably going to buy this thing just for the dpad, i have searched far and wide and nothing conpares to the nes dpad, which is kind lf loose and has divots in the 4 directions, i think this device is as close as you can get to that. There needs to be more 4" top screen devices 3.5" is just not quite big enough

@NickTaylor-Phantom-Works2 Yes, it will be able to do PS2 pretty well. It’s the same chip that’s in the RG Cube and RG 556 🙏 The T820 punches well above its weight, even featured a good amount of Switch emulation on the channel with the 556.

i think the chipset is the same. I have a wood style rg351v myself but i like how they added a 4" screen, the body is slightly slimmer, more ergonomic buttons, pdf support, music player, hdmi and bluetooth for arcade sticks / ergonomic remote. I was between white and blue but i ended up going for blue bc i feel like it wont age as bad. i still will keep my rg351v

The 351V has the RK3326 so it's pretty similar to the H700 in terms of performance and expectations of what can be played on it. I'd say if you feel you really need a larger screen, it's a nice thing to have especially if you can grab it for less than the $66 price, which will happen frequently with coupons and sales. There are some nice refinements with the RG40XX but it's nothing ground breaking and just a solid handheld in general.
