14:24 Ryujinx *does* run natively on ARM. You just have to compile it yourself. And it runs games really well. If you like to, I can send you my own compiled version, if you don't have much expirience with compiling yourself.
@retrotechdad3 ай бұрын
Are you using the Linux ARM64 build to compile? I know the Ryujinx team has been working on a Windows on ARM version but there's such limited information out there. I'd love to be able to get this working natively and show off some of the capabilities of the SDX since I have an upcoming emulation focused video in the future.
@otozinclus35933 ай бұрын
@@retrotechdad I just downloaded the source code from the GitHub (click on the green "code" button, then install zip), Unzip that. In that folder you have a README file and inside of that is somewhere a 3 step tutorial on how to compile it yourself. It will automatically build iself for the architecture you are currently using on your device, in this case Arm64. Performance seems good. Metroid Dread runs with 60FPS in docked mode, BOTW with mostly 30FPS in handheld mode. The big problem is, that in certain 3D scenes, the screen gets all buggy and messy, BOTW is a total mess to play. Some games don't seem to suffer from that issue that much, Metroid Dread has it occasionally, but to an extend that I would deem playable.

I dunno man, even GOW on PPSSPP looks skippy, not sure if it's your capture card but 60fps should look much smoother than that. 10:59 Well it has plenty of room to grow, looking forward to when it does! I think we're quite a ways away from getting these chips in handhelds. Great review! I'm way more impressed by it's productivity. Could you test out Premiere and Lightroom? X Elite is OK, but not quite what I was hoping for in terms of performance. Is it possible we'll see games that run via translation improve as devices with the chipset are out longer and there's more work done on them? Or is it more likely I'll be waiting for Strix Halo or Intel XE 2 to find their way (hopefully) into a Surface Pro or similar device in the future if I'm looking for better gaming performance and don't necessarily care if it's ARM architecture or not?

Emulating x86 to emulate another platform emulated on x86 seems obtuse. I compared this to the 155H and 8840HS. They both smoked it for PC gaming and PS2 and PS3 emulation. The translation layer does not have much ceiling for ARM to x86. Added: Heavier games on MAME like the newer Gauntlets also had X chip performance issues. Seems better to get a device with those chips. Still amazing battery life for lower resource tasks. Especially the 155H after recent updates.

Qualcomm really needs to start improving their GPUs. They had no reason to on mobile as Nvidia shifted Tegra to just AI crap and while Apple is a direct competitor in the mobile space, they're not an immediate competitor. And there really weren't any other threats on mobile, with not many games needing higher end GPUs on Android. Now though, they try to bring their anemic mobile GPUs to PC and they just can't actually touch AMD or even Intel on anything besides benchmarks (which don't matter).

Their gpus on mobile are bigger than apples. Beating apple in every benchmark in perf and efficiency, even rt. These games being bad could just be emulation problems.

Online games ?

It’s come a long way, but it’s still got a long way to go. It’s worrisome that Microsoft plans to use these Arm chips in the new Xbox, and how they now have a dedicated team for forwards compatibility (emulation). I can’t see this ending well in the long run, even if they get the emulation perfect, will developers support the switch to Arm when gaming is still dominated by X86?
@bulletpunch93173 ай бұрын
Xbox games shouldnt have any problems with arm, itll just be switch but 20x more powerful or something. But extra work for pc ports.
@christianr.58683 ай бұрын
Considering the switch is the most successful console right now, and the switch 2 will get a TON of support, arm is currently dominating the gaming market
@TheLazyGamers3 ай бұрын
@@christianr.5868 yet many 3P developers that you find publishing on PC, PS & Xbox still choose to skip the switch, often some of the largest games currently, like COD, GTA, R6 etc. Almost all the games he tested other than Fortnite aren’t available on switch either.
@christianr.58683 ай бұрын
@@TheLazyGamers the only games out of the ones that he tested that isn’t on switch is god of war, because it’s a Sony game. And hades 2, which isn’t on any console yet but will likely also make it to the switch since the first ones on it. GTA V, I have no idea by it’s not on switch yet, but Doom eternal, stray, Ori and the blind forest and Tetris effect are all on switch. The thing that’s holding the switch back is its graphical capabilities, not its architecture. When the switch 2 comes out. Everyone is gonna try to get their games on that thing

1 lakh+ laptop and cant handle games. Its terrible. I don't know who its made for.
@farishanafiah84612 ай бұрын
Lol, it can handle emulation without much problem. If you care much about desktop gaming, go for x86. ARM is great for those who want long battery life.

Windows on arm is trash. I don't arm to be a monopoly so I'm glad it sucks.
@retrotechdad3 ай бұрын
I think there's a long road before that happens especially with massive gains on the x86 side with efficiency.
@christianr.58683 ай бұрын
Arm can’t be a monopoly because other companies can make it. Nvidia can make arm computers. And it’s a matter of time before windows on arm gets good. But x86 isn’t going anywhere. It’s just more of options for different users

@@MobileDecay that’s not gonna happen, but out of curiosity, assuming it gets to the point where everything works great on arm, why not?
