Greetings all, Russ over at Retro Game Corps had a link shared in his video on the Ayn Odin that takes you to a community designed spreadsheet that gives you detailed information on how a myriad of games played on the Odin. Thought i would share this as it could be emmensely helpfull if you are considering buying the Odin and need to see if it will play the games you want to play. It is quite old though so some of the links on it may not be updated and remember that some of the frontend's like emulation station may not work on it if you try the latest version. Not shure if this info was updated on the sheet but at the very least it should give you and idea of what the gameplay on the games are like. Here we go: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1zATLq_UshE1Nw6HhHuJvrv6f6xFyK8nHrUdDd6bO7KM/edit#gid=836973255

How do you find the analogue sticks on it? I see a lot of reviewers complaining about their accuracy.
@TheTechUpdate-ui1fh6 ай бұрын
Hi There, sorry for the late reply.Wasn't shure if the comment was directed at Porcelain bowl or to me. Unfortunately i wasn't able to do a hands on comparison but i have seen that quite a few reviewers complain about the ananlog sticks. A solution to this is to mod the unit and install Hall effect analog sticks. They cost about $18 on amazon and there is a guide on Joey's Retro handhelds on how to do it at this link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rKSmhHahgdOehrs

@@tazmo2237 Sorry for the late reply as well. I'm a casual gamer and only enjoy a few genre of game like Adventure, Strategy, RPG type games so the stick is just fine for me. If you like shooters or racing games or any other games where you need a smooth sensitive accurate response then you might have issue because the sticks don't have a lot of travel.

The Dpad on the 556 looks considerably more comfortable than the Odin, if you want to play mostly 2D games I'd say get that one. But the sticks are terrible, and the screen mapping software yields terrible results because of the sticks on the 556, whereas on the Odin these are both very good. Also the Odin has back buttons. Still waiting for that perfect device unfortunately...
@TheTechUpdate-ui1fh5 ай бұрын
Very insightful points. I just heard over the weekend that the sticks were not that great. Seem to have missed that in the review video's I watched. Apparently you can mod them and add better sticks though so that might be a solution. The back button's on the Odin is an extra factor to consider but as staef in the Video the stagnant Android OS on the unit is a bit of a deal breaker for me. If that was still being updated my view might be different. Thanks for watching and adding your thoughts, it is much appreciated 😁👍

This video couldn’t have come at a better time I really was ready to spring for the Odin as from my understanding it’s stronger right … but the price of the anbernic + the screen might honestly sway me in that direction. I honestly think the anbernic is strong enough + the screen + the newer version of android is a big deal.

Glad i could help. From what i can see The Odin 1 Processor is roughly just as good as the one on the Rg556 and like i said given the reputation of the Odin 2 and just how good the Odin 1 looks made me think it might be a better option than the 556 aswell. But when i looked deeper into it i realised the older software could become a problem later on. Also i saw the RG556 for $166 on Aliexpress with free shipping to the US. Thats a pretty good deal. Not shure were you live but you can check it out at the following link: s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_DkwLx99. Just be aware that it may take some time to get to you. The Odin 2 is much better though but it cost minimum $299 and im not shure if that includes shipping.

Do they sell these in stores like "game stop" or similar devices.
@TheTechUpdate-ui1fh6 ай бұрын
Hi, these are mostly sold online as far as I am aware. They are mainly from China . Sites like keepretro.com , mechdiy and litnxt sell them. You will also be able to find them on Amazon although not the latest ones usually and not at the same price as the Chinese online retailers like AliExpress offer. I'm assuming you're from the US? Not 100% shure if any brick and mortar stores sell them there as I'm from South Africa. Maybe someone watching the video can help us out with some inside info please? There are links in the description as well that will take you to the supplier sites that sell these
@lazyshinobi28616 ай бұрын
Unfortunately you will not find these in stores in the US … maybe and it’s a strong maybe you could find something like the Odin at a micro center but even then I’d imagine just the more popular handhelds like steam deck etc. your best bet is ordering online from the brands website 🫶 hope this helps.

Anbernic RG556 Vs Odin ???
@TheTechUpdate-ui1fh2 ай бұрын
Weird i know but price wize they are close together. And the Odin can still provide some good performance. Only problem with it is the older Android 10 OS. The RG556 is a better value proposition in my book though.

Hello sr I'm going to buy but i don't know what should I buy all i need is to play a android game like genshi impact and wuthering waves i don't know which one is perfect for this game.
@TheTechUpdate-ui1fh3 ай бұрын
Hi there. The RG556 should run Genshin impact and Wuthering Waves fine. I would recommend it as it cost a bit less than the Odin and as far as i remember has a newer verison of Android that will most probably be more supported. Here are links to some game play videos of these 2 games on the RG 556 that you can check out to see what gameplay is like. Genshin Impact: kzbin.info/www/bejne/sIW0iGOGfdenoJY, Wuthering Waves: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fKiwZ2WnfaubhKM. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.

@@joshuaesguerra9676 Hi there. If you have budget to buy the Odin 2 at $300 that is a much more powerfull system with a much better battery life aswell. It will have no problem playing the games you mentioned. Just note though it does not have a OLED Screen, just standard IPS LCD. If I had the money and had to choose between the Odin 2 ($300) and the RG556 ($160) I would rather choose the Odin 2 because it is worth the extra cash . Just want to be clear though the Odin mentioned in this video is the original Odin that sells for $199. It is not as powerful as the Odin 2 and is very similar in performance to the RG556 which is cheaper at $165. If you ha d to choose between the Odin 1($199) and the RG556 ($165) I would rather recommend the 556. I hope that is clear. If you have any other questions feel free to ask

@TheTechUpdate-ui1fh5 ай бұрын
They are both pretty evenly matched as far as perfromance goes. but the RG556 has a newer version of Android that will stay up to date longer. The Odin will not have any further development for the android version on it which means in the next year or 2 you are going to find that some of the software needed to run PS2 games may become incompatible with the older version of Android on it. So my recommendation is to choose the RG556.
@jimdoom22765 ай бұрын
Are you sure abt that? The only software you need to play PS2 games is AetherSX2, which is not being updated any more. So, if anything, it's more likely that NEWER versions of Android will become incompatible with the emulator.
@TheTechUpdate-ui1fh5 ай бұрын
@@jimdoom2276 I cannot definitely say anything, most of this is my best assumption on the information available. So any input and debate is appreciated and welcomed. That is a interesting point i did not consider. but as far as i know there is still ongoing development for NetherSX2 for PS2 on Android, i am talking under correction here , so let me know if i missed something. Im shure you will find cases were there are emulators like AetherSX2 that has stalled development and will not work with newer versions of Android but for something popular like PS2 emulation i cannot imagine it completely dying out on Android. It is very likely that someone in the community will create a solution for it to work. At the end oif the day if buying a new unit i would rather take my chances with the newer version software especially if the price and performance of the units are rroughly the same, Thats just me though, you may feel different and thats fine. That is what i like about these topics and part of why i make these video's, there are so many different view points and i love discussing them with everyone. Thanks again for your thoughts on this, you may be right about it in certain scenario's.

Thanks for providing feedback. The Odin 2 is amazing but it is also $100 more than the RG556. So if you can afford the price difference the Odin 2 is definitely the one to get, but If your on a bit of a budget and looking for a handheld that can play a lot of PS2 and GameCube then the RG556 is definitely worth a look
